  1. That can be true, but he's been a rigger for a really long time and it is probably safe to say that he knows the positives and negatives of most of the gear that is out there.
  2. "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." Yea, that sounds like Jesus alright. 200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .
  3. Yep, not the best camera angle. Wonder if the photographer picked up on that. 200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .
  4. For someone who claims to be as familiar with the bible as you seem to, maybe you should spend a bit more time with it. Christ is only mentioned in the New Testament, and thus what you wrote that I quoted above is just wrong. 200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .
  5. Alright, so what is the official definition of a "pencil dick?" 200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .
  6. Well, I'm definately not "experienced" when it comes to all sorts of gear, being that I have only been jumping since September of 2001 and have only jumped my own rig for 49 of the 61 jumps that I have done so far. That being said, when I was doing some jumps on my rig when I was deciding whether or not to buy it, it had tube-stows on it and the lines came out of the stows really easily. I probably could have just done the locking stows and just put the rest of the lines in the container unstowed and would have had the same opening. My rigger and DZO pointed this out to me and said that if I bought the rig they would help me replace the tube-stows with skybands. Being a very newbie at that point I said ok, and when i bought the rig 2 jumps later, we replaced all the old loose tube-stows with skybands. Since then, I have only had to replace the 2 locking stows once, and have always had clean openings. So I guess the reason would be that my DZO and my rigger swear by skybands and have very strong opinions against tube-stows, and I have watched people break regular rubber bands before even getting them put all the way on their D-bags. And being that my DZO has been jumping since the fifties, I generally consider him to have a pretty good idea of what is and isn't a good idea, when it comes to equipment and maintenance. Plus, they're black and match my D-bag. 200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .

    New Music

Can't get more ironic than that. One the same line where you are correcting someone's spelling, you misspell something else: Mike Myers 200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .

    Walk This Way

That's pretty sweet dove. Took me about 10 weeks to heal after I forgot to flare and I didn't even break anything. Now soon you will be back in the air, where doves belong.
  12. SkyBands are where it's at as far as I am concerned.
  13. Yea, that was sort of touching. But hollywood is good at those kinda scenes. "Yea, I didn't think we'd actually be turning any points..." ~ Goat #4
  14. You can quote the bible willy-nilly to suit whatever purpose you want. Regardless of what you are trying to prove, in most cases it won't stand up against someone who's knowledge of the bible is better than superficial. My understanding is that the Old Testament of the bible has more of a purpose in the history of Christianity, while the New Testament is more of a guidebook of what Christianity is and how to be a Christian. From the New Testament: "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. - Matthew 5:38-42 Here's a good bible link for quick lookup of bible quotes that suit your particular purpose. 15. Right. Big difference. How can you add to something without changing it? Let me clarify. You made a comment about an organization where everyone is working in a different direction and how that wouldn't work. I was trying to say that I didn't mean that every individual person worked towards a difference goal, but that there are many different groups of people and schools of thought that are working towards different goals, often in opposition to each other. You asked for examples. I had originally said that they were obvious that they didn't really need mentioning, but I indulged your question and gave you examples. And if we are talking about patriotism, and patriotism involves our country, then any issues within our country are at the very least tangentally related. More valuable information can be communicated in these forums if the people posting on "controversial" threads present there opinion as "their opinion" in the spirit of trying to convince others to see it their way, as opposed to presenting it as "the way it is" with no room for exceptions. Fact is, some of what you say is biased and wrong, regardless of how strongly you believe it. Same goes for some of the things that I say. If we had all the answers, like we like to pretend that we do, then we would have a lot of things we would be doing that would be more worth our time that posting here. It's a bad hack movie, that is too long and way too reminescient of Braveheart.
  16. Someone can disagree with cloning and not be actively trying to change it, but that doesn't mean that they have to or should support it just because they aren't actively trying to change it. You can substitute any number of things into the above statement in place of "cloning." Such as: abortion, affirmative action, religion in schools, seatbelt laws, or scrambled vs. sunny-side-up. That's the beauty of the US, people have the freedom to have any opinion they want on a given issue, without being torn down by the the government or collective society. People do this all the time. And if someone in power feels threatened by it, it isn't generally too hard to figure out a way claim that that person is breaking one law or another when they are "backing up their words with actions." What would be more appropriate would be so say that you should actively back up your opinion on something as long as (a) it is non threatening to the government's way of thinking (b) nobody really cares what you are doing or what you think or (c) it is in direct alignment with the way the majority already feels anyway. Unless I hack into your account and edit your posts, I am not changing what you say. Your post still stands as it is. However, this is a forum setting, and I have every right to offer my interpretation of what you said or disagree with you and tell you that you are wrong, as long as it is done in a manner that is appropriate to the rules of courtesy that are implicit in these forums. If you don't like that I have the ability to do that, then don't post, then I won't have anything of yours to respond to. I don't think I said that everyone was working in a different direction. Just that everyone isn't working in the same direction. Wouldn't be much of a democracy or free market otherwise. "Yea, I didn't think we'd actually be turning any points..." ~ Goat #4
  17. That doesn't make any logical sense at all. I could give examples of where this statement would lead to some really odd and unsavory conclusions, but I shouldn't need to. I disagree with this too. The reason the United States is so great is because so many people in this country work against each other to accomplish their specific goals. If everyone in the US supported their government in a team mentality, then the government could do anything it wanted with impunity, and not be held accountable for it. 18. As long as we can get stuff planned out earlier than the night before, it's always a possibility.

  20. Patriotism doesn't have anything to do with American or democracy. To be patriotic you just have to love your country. "Yea, I didn't think we'd actually be turning any points..." ~ Goat #4
