  1. There is: buy a conceptus tongue switch!! Cheers for the comments though! And apologies for this thread being diverted! Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  2. An adaptor (sony multi-terminal to 2.5mm) or switch with sony multi-terminal connector, both with 90 degree connector is also available here, to give you a choice of places to go! http://skyswitches.com/index.asp?q=buy Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  3. If this can be answered easily without turning this thread into another AAD wars thread, how is the M2 the least versatile AAD? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  4. I presume it's yourself that just ordered some right angle multi-terminal adaptors through my site, so I'm guessing you found your answer! I figured the straight connectors are a larger snag hazard, so I decided to stop doing those, and I only do right angle ones now. I mould the RA connector myself and try to keep it as small as possible. Aesthetics aren't perfect, but less of a snag hazard IMO. 5. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/877665133/tunnel-pack-for-indoor-skydiving?ref=video Would that suit pocket have space for the bulkier FS suits with double chunky grips on arms, and inner and outer legs? Looks a good fit for the slim fitting FF tunnel suit, but would be concerned it would be too small for such an FS suit. 6. Interesting. Will have a look into that. Thanks. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  7. Ah, so they were all separate photos to start, and then post-processing on those photos combined them in to one? Shame, as I was hoping it would be some nifty feature in my camera! Oh well, will still give it a go at some point! Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  8. I've got a sony a5100, can you take photos like the attached with it? Presume it is some form of multiple exposure option? Or is it lots of separate photos combined in some program? Thanks. 9. Related to the OP, but also a general question to those more experienced, if your 90 turns are completely off, would going back to double fronts, learning and becoming decent at those be a beneficial progression, or just stick with 90s but learn to do them properly? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  10. You should get on a canopy course... Now. On the course you might learn how to make the canopy do what you want it to do, and learn other things about flying it you didn't know about. When you start learning about using fronts, you'll start to learn how to make the landings faster, more efficient and more fun. A 139 loaded at 1.35 at 250 jumps is pushing the downsizing quite quick. Typical sayings like "learn to walk before you can run" apply here. Quite a few people have infamously crippled themselves under Safire2s. Learn to fly it fully before you criticise it, and risk making yourself another statistic with it!! I started to want to swoop at around 700 jumps. Wanted to learn properly though, so signed up for a Flight-1 201 course, possibly arrogantly thinking that the 100 series was too basic for me. I did the 201 course. It was a great learning experience, but it was also humbling, and I'm now working my way through the 100 series. 101 done, and looking for a 102 near me. Never underestimate the value of good coaching, and the value of learning the proper foundations first. 11. My VisoII has been telling me that it is almost out of battery charge, for about a year now. Then the other week, went jumping, usual flashing empty battery sign which I ignored as is standard, then as the day went on it slowly got more and more charged!! By the end of hte day it was showing a full battery. And no, I am not joking or being stupid. 100% genuine. Now I believe that the VisoII is cleverly designed to generate power through its use, and if there was enough mass production of these units, we could solve the world's power problems. That part was me joking and being stupid. I'd heard problems with batteries for N2s, not N3s, but then I'm not even remotely a legend... 12. Personally I'd add an audible altimeter in there too. Not a required piece of kit, but a very useful one. Solo, Optima, Protrack amongst others. Jumpsuit - as you're just getting your A licence, personally I think getting a cheap 2nd hand FS suit is the best thing to start. Cheap so trash landings won't be much of an issue for it, and an FS suit as your next target will likely be getting your FS1 sticker so you can jump with others. While some people say the more "hybrid" like suits - FF style with flat grips on legs and arms - are a sort of best of both worlds type suit, I personally think that getting the right tool for the job is best. Use a cheap FS suit to get your FS1, have fun jumping with people, then as you get an idea on what your primary fun route for skydiving is, get another suit (if needed) for that. It might be an FF suit at that point, but you'll then also have your cheap FS suit for when you want to do flat dives. 13. I'd imagine it'll be the Pilot when made with the zpx material. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  14. I've have both a multi-terminal to 2.5mm adapter for 2.5mm switches, and a separate switch with a multi-terminal connector. Full disclosure - I make switches and adapters (skyswitches.com), so have made all my own. But I recall from when testing with the Sony cameras, if specific wrong wires were crossed together, then the camera would fire on pressing the switch, but would lock up after that. However, if it is working on the ground then it isn't that it was wrongly wired. If it is locking up, then maybe it is a wire occasionally shorting, if it is just failing to fire, then could be a loose connection? I'm just guessing though. 15. Not knowing what size the OP would be wanting I was mainly referring to the smaller end of the scale for the nano, where for example the Max allowed weight on a 126 is 167lbs, compared to 254lbs for an optimum, and 220lbs for the smart lpv in the 120 and 135 sizes. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  16. Shorting of the wrong wires in a tongue switch or adaptor for the sony multi-terminal cameras (A5000, A5100, A6000 etc) can cause the camera to freeze and stop accepting input. This may have been the problem. Or you could have just been unlucky with the camera. I've experienced no problems in the use of my A5100. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  17. Remember to check the max exit weight recommendations for the reserve. If I recall correctly, the Nano has a low recommended max exit weight, compared to the likes of the Smart and Optimum. The whole loading your reserve high is another discussion, but if you are planning on getting one of the smaller reserves, you may be past the weight limits (the recommended ones I believe) for the Nano... 18. I've got 2 Fires and the pocket is on the back of the mudflap area, just below the three rings level and above the chest rings articulation. Same place as on my previous Icon. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  19. Depending on price you are willing to pay, the A5100 is worth considering. Not as big, or quite as feature rich as the A6000, but moreso than the A5000, but it has the really fast auto focus if you use a AF lens. Shots a faster continuous shoot mode - either low or hi, which is something like 6 or 11 fps respectively or something like that. Comparison of all three specs: http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=sony_a5000&products=sony_a5100&products=sony_a6000 Just ignore bit about A5100 doing 720p video at 120fps. It doesn't. I've got the A5100. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  20. Would you like photos of soft links from other manufacturers taken alongside a measuring device, sent to you to add to your reference manual? I've got main slinks from both of Firebird and Skylark I believe, although would have to check. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  21. Yeah, I know and have been a recipient of L&B's awesome customer service in the past. But I also don't want to take the piss with it. If too many people abuse their awesome CS, it may stop being so awesome. That being said, if the Optima I've now bought does fall victim to the weaker case that people have mentioned, I'll email them and see what they say! Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  22. Optima has only a single set of canopy alarms OptimaII has 4 set of canopy alarms. Optima has a drawer type battery holder, Optima II's battery is secured with a Philips screw. Thanks for that. One set of canopy alarms should be fine , only ever used one set on my lost Optima2. Got it for 1/3 the price of a new Optima2 or quattro, so can't complain too much. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  23. So, does it have all the same alarms? There must be more than just a case difference... Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  24. As per the title, what are the differences between the Optima I and II? Tried searching but couldn't find the answer. Lost my Op.II, and think I've found a 2nd hand Op.I, so want to know if I'm going to lose out on anything significant. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  25. As above - a possible option is to change the stills camera to something like one of the Sony (or other brand) mirrorless cameras (A5000, A5100, A6000 etc) that are MUCH smaller, so have less of an overhang, which would reduce the extent of the snag hazard as a start. Then fill in the space between the helmet and camera. If you didn't want to drill the helmet, what I've done with mine (I've got a different helmet, and a mirrorless camera, so my overhang was no where near as notable) is fit a thin aluminium plate to the base of the camera, through which it attaches to my quick release. I then filled the gap between that plate and the helmet with very firm foam, but had it fixed to the plate rather than the helmet. The likes of polymold, polymorph etc mouldable plastic would work just as well. That way when I take the camera off, the "filler" stuff goes with it, rather than staying fixed on the helmet. But the height of my overhang at its biggest point was only about 2cm tops, so not as pronounced as yours.
