  1. 1 chop in 610 jumps over 7 years, on a xfire2. And it was something like my 13th jump on that canopy... Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  2. I've just got a zkulls 3n mount with 2 plates so I can change between video and stills easily. However I just can't get the plates to turn smoothly in the mount, so twisting the camera to turn the plate to align or remove it always results in the camera twisting on the plate messing up the set up and defeating the purpose of the mount. The supplied instructions don't give any help, but are you meant to oil the plates or something? Or could this be a result off an ever so slight distortion on the mount when screwing it all in? I'm at a loss, and hope there's a solution as it just doesn't work for me at all just now! This group is a UK dealer for SWS, and has info on the container and I think comments from people who have bought one. https://www.facebook.com/groups/aerosky/ Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  4. I've got medium sized wings on my suit and I wear a weight belt as well. I wear it because should an exit funnel, I can get down there much faster while still keeping them in frame without lifting my head. When I'm flying above them I use a little wing to balance the extra fall rate I have from the weight. If I was flying normally without a weight belt, my fall rate would be about the same as the team's. I'm by no means an expert having only done 1 season filming 4 way so far, but it was a great learning curve for me. 5. Isn't that service bulletin doing exactly that? Fixing the problems some of the units are having? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  6. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zulu-by-Aerodyne-Research/1396605627246565 So who's got to jump one so far? Any comments, as marketing specs are pretty much non-existent!! Gather it is meant to fill the gap between the Pilot and the Mamba, but what is it actually like? 7. Didn't want to show disrespect by posting this in the Incidents forum, but the news article reads like it should have been... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2510029/Crown-Prince-Dubai-cheats-death-skydiving-festival-manages-untangle-parachute-cords-3-000ft.html Never seen line twists so over dramatically exaggerated!! 8. What does the "Verifica 1 Livello" mean? It's on first page, 22/3/02 and 10/11/02. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  9. No need to be picky, if I've translated wrong, then its wrong! But three years does make it sound like the faded stamp is the "verifica" bit before the triennale, just like on the 24-01-07 entry? 10. The hand written squiggle on the 23/10/03 entry says "Triennale" which I assume means three months? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  11. It definitely says what DiO says it said! DiO, you're a legend! Many thanks for your assistance in translating this for me! No rides = I'm happy!! 12. Can anyone translate the attached scans of the docs for a reserve canopy to tell me if any of the entries are for a live use? Or whether they are all just for standard repacks? Thanks. 13. When I was looking for a new canopy after progressing from Pilots, I went through a phase of trying to jump lots of different types of canopy that were available. I tried xfire2 109, Demon 100, Mamba 104, FX 107 and the Odyssey 120. After trying the Odyssey, I ordered a 105 brand new custom made. Why did I choose the Odyssey? Well, first off, I'm not a big swooper at all. I'm slowly learning to do 90s, but I just like a canopy that is really fun to fly. I've done many 12k hop n pops, so I can play around and have fun with my canopy, and for me the Odyssey was the most fun. I've done about 50 jumps on my 105 now, and EVERY opening has been soft and it hasn't twisted up once (unlike ALL those other canopies I tried for far fewer jumps). It has had a tendency to slowly dive to the left after full inflation, but that is easily fixable. It has a short snivel, so opens in less altitude than the xfire2 did. Usually it about 600-700 feet give or take from tossing the PC to full inflation. I found the xfire2 usually was nearer the 800 feet mark. In flight, it is nicely snappy on toggles. I don't mean twitchy, which can make you nervous, I mean you pull the toggle and it will respond positively and quickly with a fast rotation, which I like. It returns to normal flight pretty quick after you let the toggle back up. Risers aren't too heavy. Front pressure can build up (I'm only a 65kg weakling) once I've gone beyond about a 180 on fronts (only tried that high up, no where near that rotation on swooping), but for 90s which I'm practicing it is not too heavy, but not too light. Rears are similar, not too heavy and not too light. I've not had any long spots to get back from, but the canopy seems nice and controllable with rears. It is quite sensitive to harness input, allowing for easy course corrections after opening while I sort out the slider etc. On landing the flare is great. My first ever jump I did a flare that muscle memoried how I flared on my Pilots, and I popped up 10 feet. It has SO much more flare power than the Pilots I was jumping had. I jumped Pilots in 150, 132, 124, and 117 sizes, and none of those gave me the power in flare that the two Odysseys I've jumped had. I demoed a 120 and bought a 105. I can do a slower, gradual flare for more of a glide across the ground, or a fuller flare for a short, shut down, step down landing. Most important part is, I feel comfortable and confident with the flare, even in no winds. And the price. I got mine on a very special offer, which worked out just over half the price of most other similar class canopies on the market, but that offer is over now, and even at full price, it is still about 3/4 the price of those other canopies. After trying those other canopies, the one this was most like in my opinion was the Xfire2, but I preferred the Odyssey. For me, it is like an Xfire2 with more "ooommph" and "ooommph" is a good thing. It just had that little more in all the areas that I liked. I thought the flare was more powerful than the Xfire2's, it had more positive response with the toggles, risers were similar. I honestly think that if you really like the Xfire2 then you will REALLY like the Odyssey. They are in the same class range and for me the Odyssey takes the top spot. I'll be keeping this canopy for a long time and I am VERY pleased with the purchase. I have 2 rigs, and for those that care, I put the Demon 100 (from Firebird) in my second rig, as it was also really good fun to fly, and a bargain at its retail price.
  14. Not jumped a Safire2, but preferred the Pilot to the Sabre2. I've jumped the Pilot in 150, 132, 124 and 117 sizes, and the Sabre2 in the 135. I didn't like the Sabre2 much, it just felt quite docile by comparison. I didn't do that many jumps on it. The Pilot opened better, more reliabley on heading and without end cell closure. It also felt more responsive in toggle turns, which I liked. The flare of the Pilot was much deeper in the toggle stroke than the Sabre2, but both had decent flare if flared well. And by that I mean if you do a "Sabre2 flare" on a Pilot, it won't feel like it flares well, and vice versa. My old team mates were jumping all 3 at a training camp last year, and each of them picked the Pilot as their favourite. But everyone is different. 15. Did the person who checked and signed for him confirm 100% that the hackey was sticking out of the pouch when he checked, or did he not actually check properly, assuming it was there etc? Definitely a hackey not the tube handle thing? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  16. Cheers for that. Makes me feel a bit more positive about the short-comings in the footage. But I'm not one to settle for mediocrity, I'm definitely going to focus to get it better next year. It has been fun. Has made me enjoy the canopy ride more too. When I was in the 4 way, the canopy ride was just a journey to the ground, trying to be quick and safe to the ground, to get debriefed and packers working. Now I can actually play around a bit more, so my canopy stuff has been improving too! Looking forward to next year! 17. Since this 5 year old thread has been resurrected, there is always my site for the prices and diameters - http://jumpticketprices.com/tunnels.asp. It's in a sticky at the top of this forum too. 18. Any plans to translate this to Android? I'd definitely buy it if/when it comes available. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  19. Didn't the new generation of Dolphin come around about 2000? This one is a 1996. My old one was a 1996 DoM too, and it didn't have any snaps and it wasn't a freefly friendly one. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
  20. I jumped a Dolphin D3 as my first container. It is a cheap, no frills container, but it did its job. I had a 190 main and a RavenII reserve (181 sq ft I think) in it. It also comfortably fit a 170. If it is in good condition, then I think it should be ok, I survived using mine!! But as stated, I don't think they are freefly friendly, so don't try to sit fly in it! 21. Well, season is now basically over. Nationals was the weekend just gone. Was filming the team I'd been doing training with over the summer, and another team I picked up just for the nationals. Ironically, my exits were better with the latter team than the team I'd been filming in training too! For some reason, I just didn't click as well with my main team as I had been in the latter training sessions. As a result over the course of the 8 rounds, they had camera busts on 2 of them, two points in each. I wasn't happy with myself for that, as I should have been better, and I don't understand why I wasn't. Fortunately it didn't affect their placing. That team was in A. What was weird was that the other team I filmed were in AA, started turning points on the hill very quickly, yet I didn't have a single camera bust with them and all the exits looked better. Oh well, has been a great learning curve for a new skill. Still wish I was in the 4 way rather than observing it, but while I'm not rich enough to fund a 4 way habit, camera work will have to do. Hopefully next year I'll progress more and do better! 22. I didn't realise you could use the Aerodyne mini-force risers on other manufacturers' containers. I thought they were only allowed/cleared on Aerodyne containers? Clearly I was wrong. 23. I recall another "L&B poor customer service" thread a while back, and seem to remember that the person there had a problem with a ProTrack and was told it wouldn't be supported outside warranty period. Maybe their poor customer service is linked soley to ProTracks? 24. I've added a field so you can put in the rigging qualification of the person, so you know the level the person is at. I've had some helpful feedback given via pm, and welcome more constructive feedback if anyone has got any. 25. Thanks for your replies. You've given me the exact info I was after! Do you, or anyone else for that matter, know if rigging/reserve packing qualifications are different for other Parachute Authorities around the world?
