Basically any American beer advertised on TV isn't worth drinking. PBR, coors, bud, etc. There is some awesome micro brews. There is some good more-produced stuff also, ever had new Belgium brewing's 1554?

So is there a island in the right of this controlled intersection, or just the painted lines?
-
Mike - So your 100% sure about this? Because that would be fantastic. Well, I have a meeting with these guys this weekend. I'll see if anybody can tell me what code it falls under. I'll update later.

So I work with a team here in san mateo county where all of the members have to go through a big test before they allow us to drive county owned/maintained vehicles. Part of the test involves watching a video of some person driving and pointing out their mistakes. This maneuver is on there. They turn right at a intersection with a right turn lane, the turn is not made in the right turn lane. It's legal. But it's tricky, as your crossing over that bike lane, and then having to merge into the cars making that right turn. You shouldn't have to wait for a green in California. You just have to come to a full, complete stop before you make that right turn. No, I must admit, it may piss me off to see you doing that if I'm in that turn lane, and see you taking the short-cut. I also wouldn't do that if a cop is in the turn lane, you don't want to upset them.

Name the dog what you like. Cutaway sounds fine.

Ehh, that's not really true, particularly minor stuff can be repaired just fine if done right. You munch a fender or bumper, the repair is fairly simple, replace the body part, and paint it to match the car. Even major damage can be repaired quite well with a good body jig. Don't get it repaired with that back yard person that uses things like bondo.

Okay, so I have a uncle that owns a European car body shop. A good number of the members of my family have been in the auto body business at one time or another. It's like this: The Insurance company is liable in some states to repair the car back to it's original state. You may request they use only OEM parts. (not in all cases, but in some, this is the best.) In some states the insurance companies don't have any real laws that make them pay much of anything. They have this bullshit tactic that they pull where they send a appraiser to your house and they do this estimate. They will either mail you a check or cut you a check on the spot. DO NOT cash that check. Cashing that check is your way of agreeing to their amount as a settlement. The check is usually for 50% or less of what it would take to cover the repair, not including a rental while your car gets worked on. Take that check to the body shop, hopefully you can get a good recommendation from one from the BMW dealership in your area. Give them the check and explain the situation. If it's a good bodyshop, they will know how to deal with the insurance company antics. You are entitled to a rental car (a modest one) while your car is being repaired. The insurance companies usually have preferred body shops that they like to use. Sometimes, these body shops can be pretty good ones, and the insurance companies are happy to let you drop the car off there, and let that body shop work out the problems. This might be a good thing for you. See if the BMW dealership can give a positive or negative review of the preferred body shop in your area. One bit of advice: do not say anything about your physical health to a insurance agent until the car is repaired. When they ask, you say things like "I'm unsure about my (neck, back, whatever)" . Insurance companies are known to not worry about how much the car costs to repair if they have this possible medical claim hanging over them. Don't completely lie about being hurt when you aren't. It's a whole can of worms you probably don't want to deal with. So, get your own appraisal for the repair of the car. If the insurance company is really low balling you, be prepared to detain the use of a layer to get your car repaired. If you can get a layer on your speed dial, even better. Anyhow, I really dislike insurance companies and believe that they should be run for the benefit of the population in a non-profit model. Right now, the insurance companies are designed to make their very wealthy owners more wealthy. They have systems set up to deny claims, and trick the claimants into accepting far to little money for a repair.

Humm. getting buzzed and playing WoW. I'm soooo cool. I promise I'll skydive this weekend to make up for it. :)

I think that in a lot of areas companies making policies like that is mostly illegal. Where do you work? that whole thing would piss me off a lot. If the 2nd job isn't affecting my performance, what does it matter? Even if it does, I need to pay the bills somehow. People with kids have a performance decrease from them. Are you going to make having kids against company policy?

That seems very conter intuitive. I have been trying to round out my pedal stroke, and definatly in hills, I get better perfornce if I apply energy to as much of the cycle as possible. It is counter intuitive. So the purpose of the 12-3 thing is to increase efficiency, not performance. The muscles you use, particularly to pull up on the pedal aren't very efficient muscles. You burn through more energy per unit work. So, pedaling through the whole stroke gives you a better performance(a lot more power), but you burn thorough a lot more energy.
-
Okay, hills. So, the property of cadence in cycling usually refers to the speed that you pedal the bike. Most people pedal between 70 and 90 rpm. The trick to hills, is to start by getting a cadence measuring bike computer(they aren't expensive). Figure out what your comfortable pedaling speed is. Lets say 70 rpm. So, when you get to a hill, down shift to the point where you are pedaling at the same speed as when you are on flat ground. You will be moving slower, but that is fine. Keep that 70 rpm up. It would even be okay to down shift to a gear where you are pedaling faster than 70 rpm. Another trick to use for hills(and for long distance biking) is to only pedal between 12 and 3. That is, if you consider the top of the pedal sweep 12, concentrate on only pushing on that pedal from the top to about the 3 position(45 deg past 12). This is a difficult thing to do, but it will save you energy.

So you can actually game on linux. Depending on what you'd like to run, it can be easy or hard. Actually, my linux laptop runs dune 2000 better in linux than any other machine I own. Things like WoW are possible, but difficult to run. I have two machines at home. 1 windows machine for WoW, and everything else runs linux. My work machines are all linux. They have been for years. I must admit, if your just switching cold turkey, it's going to be hard. But your life will probably be better because of it. So what distro are you starting with?

I gave smash labs a few tries. But I couldn't put up with the drama of the hosts. I found myself interested in the things that they were testing, but the guys on there are kind of a pain in the ass. And i like to see more on the building process than they give. I know the mythbusters isn't very scientific either, but smashlabs is just to far down on the scientific scale for me. I removed it from my DVR's lineup about a month ago.

Get some espresso machine cleaner.. like this: http://www.centralrestaurant.com/Espresso-Machine-Cleaner-c65p1834.html?utm_source=product_feeds&utm_medium=google_products There are other similar products, put the stuff in there, let it sit in there a while. rinse well. It seems to do the job on the stainless steel espresso machine parts. It would be better if you can get a brush down there, but, you know, this is decent.

XM-Sirius merger approved by justice department
piratemike replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
Possibly, but your more likely to see a decrease in channel bandwidth, worse customer service, and a abandonment of terrestrial relay stations. -
That's possible, or it could be a problem with the upper shock tower, there is this mount up there with the tendency to start coming apart. Uasually at greater than 70K miles.

I've been meaning to watch one of those. I've seen the comic book version of it, which I like, but the movies would probably be better. u mean this LA Blue Girl? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Blue_Girl Its great! Yeah. so my vote is a tie between cowboy beebop and futurama.

I don't want to denigrate your point to much, but don't they charge more that $1 for a big mac?
-
Okay, so the net gain from the hydrogen/oxygen production is going to be a very negitive #. I'd have to go put the numbers together, but I suspect that the ammount of power provided by the lift of the gasses would be a lot less than the power needed to break up all of that water. I'm assuming that your going to use fuel cells at the surface to recombine the H2 and O2 to increase efficency,
-
No, because there can be a little water in some place, and a small break in the cable can let the water in. An no on the second account as the places where there is water are uasually protected. There exists toning equiptment that can be plugged in to tell how far down the leak is. It's expensive stuff, it's the sort of thing the cable guy might have.

Don't get a mac air, even though they are thin, they are very big, not very practical for actually traveling with them, and VERY expensive. Don't get a iPhone, it's not a computer, you can't legally put any apps on them that you want, and the phone portion is pretty much owned by at&t, and will only work in the US(unless u buy one from europe, I suppose.) These sony viao things are pretty cool: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Sony%20VAIO%20UX%20Premium%20UX390N%20Micro%20PC%20Laptop%20Computer:1994628449 Or, my personal favorite, it's not as fast as the sony, but is better on battery life: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Fujitsu%20LifeBook%20U810%20Laptop%20Computer:1995044522;_ylt=ApmJG2DhNhaAkfZFi8t.EhcambsF;_ylu=X3oDMTA4ZXVyOWdvBHNlYwNyZWNv There are several other ultra-portables out there if you don't like these.

I haven't ever heard of that before, but it sounds great!

I like that idea, but in my last relationship. The girl said several times that she felt better about paying her own way. So I let her most of the time. (I still paid about every 1 in 3 times. At the end of the relationship she said that she didn't feel very special partially because I didn't pick up the tab every time. Sometimes, I want to just shoot myself.

Sorry, I would have gotten tickets... but, at that time, I was on the moon... with Steve!
