  1. What are you talking about???? Age has nothing to do with this, this is a dog pack made up of 5 dogs that have turned aggressive, if I remember right from Dec none of them were old. Old dogs do not turn feral, they like humans are more sensitive to pain and being bothered so true they may be more likely to nip but that has nothing to do with turning aggressive. If they do turn aggressive there is normally a medical condition that goes with it. I agree these dogs need to be put down but it's because they have become a pack that can no longer be controlled by their humans. This is why most trainers recommend no more than two dogs in an average dog owner household. yes, these dogs are not old, the female is maybe 1.5 and the male is maybe 1. However, they both weigh over 100 lbs....
  2. You are listening to a bunch of skydivers give you advice that a couple of cutaways are no big deal. Well NO SHIT it's no big deal to a skydiver. It's HELL on a non-jumper that's been around the sport for all of -how many months- watching it from the ground! Hell I HATE watching cutaways and I have been around for not many, but a few years...I watched one happen below me while I was deploying and it sucked. It signifies that something did not go as planned. When you participate in a sport that has you falling, 'not going as planned' can be a frightening thing, I don't care who you are. Watching it happen to someone else is more freaky to me, because you can't help the situation at all. You should ask my husband what he was thinking as he was watching me spiral and cutaway from the ground. I've never seen the man so shook up, and he had WAY more jumps than I did...into places where the observers on the ground shoot you. If she wasn't scared she wouldn't care about you. Alright, all of that aside, if you are just boyfriend/girlfriend, and this is not serious, you need to decide whether jumping is more important than she is to you. If it is, nobody would blame you; you're not in a lifelong commitment. If it isn't, those of us that have found someone worth hanging onto wouldn't blame you, either. Well said Jaye! You have such a good way of getting things across!
  3. why yes, yes i do... I have a Weatherby 7mm mag... I did call animal control, about 15 min before they showed up, I heard a shot come from my uncles, only one, there should have been two, so I am hoping he did the right thing, its not so much my uncle as it as my aunt, they are her dogs, and she lives and walkes thru life with blinders on, WITH EVERYTHING not just the dogs. My uncle has been married to her for 3 years, and before her, he had no problem dropping a problem dog. I am terrified for my kids, I would move, but cant afford anywhere else for my horses, the one I have had for a long long long time and she is loosing her sight, she's 16 and very much my baby. Land in Florida is stupid expensive... like one acre under water (swamp land) goes for around 30,000........I will keep ya'll posted, I'm not gonna call tonight, I'm sure they know I'm the one who called....
  4. 0:0:0... yep my weekend sucked... but next weekend... I'll be in the air....
  5. They killed my daughters pig a few months back... well since then, they actually turned on one of their own and killed one of the other Bull Mastiff's they had, an adult female. And lastly, just today, they killed a beautiful 1 week old paint colt. I named him Shamrock, becuase he was born last Saturday morning. I doubt seriously if they will shoot the dogs. I'm so mad right now I can't see straight, I just literally got sick when my uncle told me. I moved out to the country so my kids could play and run outside, now I'm even afraid to let them do that. I thought it would be great to live right next to my uncle since my hubby is gone so much, but now I'm begining to wonder.... They have kennels for the dogs, but said before the baby was born they were gonna keep them locked up, and only let them out one at a time, well two of the dogs did this today. I'm sick, I don't know what to think or do... and they have another baby horse due in a few days....

    Kids Bday

My middle son will be 7 in the next few weeks and I'm trying to think of something cool to do with him for his bday. I took him to Universal last year and we had a blast. I was kinda thinking about going to NASA in Titusville this year, dunno. Any ideas?
  10. Dont bother. 99% of them are not worth knowing. Close your myspace account, and dont look back.
  11. So how does one go about getting to know the people on your myspace page? Sounds stupid I know... I have 58 "friends" the large majority are skydivers, and I talk to about 5 of those 58 on a steady basis. How does one go about getting to know the people on your page, we obviously have something in common, but where does it go from there? Hi my name is ..... I jump from planes and like to color with purple crayons?...sounds crazy I know... I've always been very shy in person so this has carried over to not knowing how to get to know someone....
  12. I went thru something similar with my husband before I started jumping in 03. I can chalk my issue up to not being educated about the sport. While, you can do everything right and still die, skydiving has made leaps and bounds where safety and advancements are concerned. Being uneducated about any extreme sport will naturally produce fears. One thing that I remember calming my uncertainties was my hubby had three videos, Pack Like a Pro, Fly like a Pro ( I think) and one on Cutaways and different malfunctions. When he first started jumping he watched the later two endlessly and since we had one tv, I too watched them endlessly. Also, I spent a good amount of time at the DZ as well. Try discussing with her, what exactly it is that makes her nervous, do your homework, so her the facts, look at the fatality database and what caused the accidents. There are alot more accidents from carelessness and complacency than gear failure or other things like that. Hope this helps....
  13. I've thinking about that for some time, once I get my rig squared away (building it piece by piece) I might. I'm also pretty shy, it takes a lot of courage for me to go some place new... but the invite helps...
  14. I couldnt agree more.. I went to Tech 96-00 and must admit that is the most boring and miserable town period... however there is a church and resturaunt on every corner....
  15. I doubt much character improvement is enjoyed by a woman who vividly remembers every detail of her rape, or by the parent who watched their child die violently, etc. Blues, Dave Ditto....
  16. yes I am clear, in fact my b card was signed off on, all I had to do was mail in it, then I got stupid and hurt myself and never mailed it. I did a recurrancy jump with my hubby (he's an instructor) at the end of January and all was good to go, then on this jump, my 3rd one back... this happens. UGHHH... I want to be good so bad, I just feel like I am spinning my wheels. This was absolutely amazing advice!!!!! Thanks so much for taking your time to type all that out. Im gonna definitly try your suggestions, it makes so much sense. and your right, I do have a confidence problem. I totally love jumoing with my hubby, but thats where my confidence issues come from, he has never said anything bad and has always been encouraging, but at 100 jumps, he was freeflying jam on it and here I am still flailing around like an idiot....
  17. Thanks everyone for your advice... we are booking an hour for next month amongst 4 people....
  18. So this is probably a stupid question coming from someone who has been jumping since '03... but I need help so I am asking. Before my accident in 2005 ( that led to a 19m layoff from jumping) I had good body position, good arch, etc... I had lots of time in the tunnel with a coach etc... but I've now made my 3rd jump since getting back into it at the end of jan this year. Problem, my arch is once again non-existent, my legs are on butt and I find myself having to concentrate 200% to maintain a good arch...this makes it not so fun for me. I know what the problem is, I just don't know how to fix it. My accident wasn't bad by any means but it destroyed my confidence which is what kept me grounded for so long. I love jumping with all my heart and I feel so invigorated and full of energy after each jump, but I wanna be back where I was. Any suggestions on fixing this. My goals for skydiving are to evetually compete in 4 way and to fly video when I have around 500 jumps. I can't really afford more tunnel time right now and the dz I jump at is 3 hours away and I'm lucky to get there once a month. I feel like I should be so much better than I am after the number of jumps I have made. Sorry if this is stupid, but I need help. Thanks!
  19. oops... sorry one good one with the hubby.... Uh, what about catagory ONE?
  20. 2 jumps saturday... broke loose and partied Saturday night....dont' have enough time to post all the 's that I should...
  21. It's too bad it has to be that way. I hope you understand where he is coming form, though. His parents created a broken home for him and now his dad has started a family with another woman. Looking at is from his perspective, I can understand why he might not have that "connection" with you. If his mom had been in the picture I might agree, but the last time she saw him he was 5 years old, since then, no calls, no letters, no nothing and my in laws in live in the same town as her. Even when he was there all of last summer, she made no attempts to see him... I am the only "mom" he has known. I potty trained him, I saw him ride his bike for the first time, I held his hand the first day of kindergarten, I have done everything for him that a mom should do....
  22. I thought Brandon was good, not the best but a hellava lot better than Sanjaya... Im really starting to destest him... he really irks me, almost to the point of making my skin crawl.... ughh.... im crossing my fingers he wont make it much longer. Melinda Doolittle and Gina Glocksen are my fav two females and Phil Stacy is my favorite man... Im glad he was spared last night. I missed the performance Tuesday night, so I didnt get to see what landed him there. Anyway, thats my 2cents...
