My Cooper twenty has no tan line. Darn. Those ones are probably worth more. Occam keeps telling me crooks dont throw money away. The money at Tena Bar says accident to Mr. Occam, not an intentional plant. 377 Yea, you are right! EXCEPT if when Cooper retrieved some of his bounty from the mulitple place he hid it and some of it was badly damaged - he had to make some decisions. He couldn't burn the money in a motel and he didn't want it on him in that area. Why Cooper had to make some stops on his way to Tahoe! He had some deposits to make. I think the places he buried or tossed the money were symbolic of his history in WA. The article (supposedly a candy pac). A Small pac of money would be the be the size of a Hershey bar - we had NO candy with us. He tossed this on our way back to WA from the little side trip he took me on - to a couple of little towns along the river in OR....where he recounted people he knew and places he supposedly worked with "The Boys". The next stop was almost across from the PDX - NOW that was symbolic. When I went out there in 2001 there were 3 NEW homes built on that location overlooking the river! What ever he buried he had taken down to the river at that site and definitly used a small shovel we kept in the trunk. The next stop I got out with him so he didn't ditch anything at the Green tank. Tena's bar I was ordered to stay in the car - WHY? He disappeared out of my site behind the house - WONDER WHY? The Red Lion at the foot of the bridge to Vancouver. He throws a sack into the river while he sent me to the ladies room and the snack machines. I think Cooper was disposing of damaged bounty! You can be sure he did NOT put all his eggs in one basket in 1971. He did NOT leave ALL of the money in WA. in 1971. Maybe he had someone mail a package for him and maybe he went to the locations of an old friend and made a deposit in their storage shed. Duane Weber "disappeared" for 5 1/2 hours from The DALLES and then on the last day in Seattle in 1979 - he was GIDDY and did the Geronimo thing just as I snaped his pic with his first drink of the day in hand. Next day - we leave Seattle early and he makes the MULTIPLE stops listed above! In 1980 after the money shows up on the RIVER he figured he SCREWED up and takes off to the South - I do not know where the travel money came from and the moving money came from. I didn't have it and he didn't have it but I assure you it was there when we needed it...to pay for the move to Alabama. The thread has become entirely pointless. KC - was too short KC - was balding KC - eyes wrong color KC - brother thought it would make a good movie - why he contacted a producer and his letter about Kyle ends up on the desk of an PI. KC- PI had show an interest in Cooper but only an enquiry. A note of interest on his site. KC - Blevins noted the inquiry. KC - Investigator tossed the bone. RB - Goes after Bone with gusto. PI - Laughs head off watching dog run with bone. Wish there was a smiley for BORED! The whole Cooper story including the truth has become boring. More important things going on in the world. Like survival and fighting cancer and stopping wars - keeping our president under control before he starts the war of all wars. I know who Cooper Really was and that is all that really counts for right now. I have done all I can do, but I don't have TIME or ENERGY for all of the BS anymore....and writers who are just looking for a story. They don't really care who Cooper was - I do and I had him ALL along - God's Birthday gift to me in 1977. Cooper was not really a BAD guy he was just a wayward guy who did bad things - and regretted what he had done to his life. Cooper actually EXPECTED to die that night! He was going out doing the BIG ONE - just like they talked about at Jefferson. Weber was the least likely person to have committed the crime, but he DID!

Blevins does NOT understand the times or the fact that it is human nature for some to just give and ask nothing in return. I could never recount the kindnesses I have seen given by people I have known - even in this thread and through out the yrs of my life. Not everyone has a motive when they GIVE or help others. It is how some of us were raised. Even the criminal Duane Weber was known to be - the kindnesses he projected toward others I will always remember and friends of his say the same thing. Anyone who knew him found it VERY difficult to believe he had been in multiple prisons - he just did NOT come across as habitual criminal. He was always kind and giving - often when he was really unable to do so. Perhaps it was his way of giving back because he had taken so much from others. I heard horrible things about him from one ex-wife and to hear her side of the story she was justified. All I want is to know the truth about this man and what made him go from being a criminal to a relative successful business person and the person he became. From the stories I have been told the turning point would have been a few yrs after the Skyjacking in 1971. Evidently it took time for him to decide to be a GOOD boy. Perhaps it was age and some of the people who touched his life during those yrs...but, I tend to think it was FAR more than that. He was not an ANGEL and I know of somethings he did that made my skin crawl, but I try to remember the good that he did do and the people he helped. Even in death he is helping those who have learned the story of his past. NEVER JUDGE a BOOK by it Cover or REVIEWS made about a BOOK. Read it yourself! Whatever and whoever Duane Weber was - he did try to end his life with dignity and he tried to give back what he could. The Cook Book with all of its little proverbs and sayings are all about being GOOD and the rewards of being GOOD. Whoever that book belonged to and whoever the little girl was provided Duane Weber with a life changing experience - something he never forgot! It provided the guide lines he strived to live his life by in the end. He had his moments - believe you me - he did NOT become an angel! He became a much better person. It was always there - to be sure, but he just couldn't keep his hands out of the cookie jar. I would like to think I had a little something to do with that, but I was not an easy person to deal with. Something very powerful impacted his life and forever changed it - age, surviving an unsolved skyjacking, a young girl or the fact that his life had limitations? We will never know! I believe it to be a total of the sum! Others can believe what they want. I do NOT believe he lied to me in the Hospital - he had NO MOTIVE to do so! NONE - NOT one IOTA. Duane Weber was not an ex-husband he is my deceased spouse whose name I still carry and a man who confessed to the crime before he died. Yes, I am bound and determined to find the truth. You are critical of my motive and if you truely knew me you would not make such a statement.. I could have gone for a MOVIE or have HAD someone WRITE a book, but I chose to investigate it and find the truth. For 4 1/2 yrs only my family and the FBI, Himmelsback and JT knew of me and my claim along with long time friends. I have letters and telephone bills and logs to back up this earnest search...from 1996 until 2001... The FBI recited false information to me when I had statements and documents that contradicted the information they told me - THEN and only THEN did I decide to GO PUBLIC. We have to pledge to tell THE TRUTH and NOTHING, but TRUTH when we testify in a court of law or take an oath. YET, the authorities DO NOT! They are priviledged and can lie to the public and to the witnesses! When it all added up and the score was high - I challenged the FBI publically and most of what the researchers and I had found about Weber were true. The story told to me by the FBI was NOT. I confronted the FBI publically but they continued to make untrue statements regarding the past of Weber. What was so secret about his file - he was dead! What was so secret the FBI could NOT be honest with the public regarding Weber's background? It is humiliating and embarrassing to know I spent 17 yrs with a man who not only conned me for 17 yrs, but he also conned the authorities for 24 yrs. He died March. 28 1995 and the crime was commited on Nov 24, 1971. Did He actually PLAN his confession from the day he met me - Aug 1976 until just before his death on March 1995? NOT hardly! Regarding the glue behind the ears. I am using something Duane talked about one time. Oh, I forget it is just my word so it doesn't mean crap! Suggest U research Surgical Glue! Find its origin in the dental field and the nutty things individuals did with surgical glue. Check out the history of surgery strips one can now purchase over the counter without the adhesive strength of the ones first used in ER's. Remember airplane glue? Tell me about HIPPA - it stinks. The paperwork is enormous and I have to get actual copies of ALL test results now in order to have a complete file to carry with me to Dr.s. JUST too much loss of time in serious medical situations- I keep my own files. Get physical copies of every blood test & medical test you have. (a disk is not sufficient because you might have the pictures and not the results on the disk). This way when referred to a specialist you have all pertinent tests regarding your visit to the specialist. Started doing this when my husband and I lost valuable time in Loma Linda waiting for the test to arrive from Fl - 6 days is expensive when all you are doing is waiting for paperwork, you could have carried with you. Food, car rental, lodging - adds up especially when you have to be there for 6 wks for treatment. Plus flight tickets had to be changed to accommodate the extra wk. Just a word to the wise to anyone who is to undergo treatment or diagnosis - not available in your area that requires travel. Go prepared for a screw up! You too Jo. What's good for the goose.. 377 The case is closed. They do NOT state how it is closed - solved or unsolved. The statement can be taken many ways. As Curtis told me "You can put Duane in a chute and you can put him in Wa, but you have to put him on the plane". I sent them some pictures I have never made public. They acknowledged they had been received this was a couple of months ago and everything is DEAD SILENT. I expect this is probably what they said to the guy who is claiming the case is solved. Present your proof! Until the FBI lets me know one way or another about the items I sent pictures of - there is nothing I can say. Remember this - Tina said he did not have jewelry on and according to one statement I read recently in the FBI file she stated he was wearing no ring. Could there have been a reason she might have thought Cooper should have been wearing a ring. A watch was NOT considered jewelry in 1971. My children were in grade school in 1971 - they wore NOTHING, but they were too young to need a watch. They had birthstone rings but NOT allowed to wear those and of course children did not wear earings to school in those day. If someone wants to look up the description Tina gave of Cooper - I believe all she said was that the was NOT wearing a ring. A tie tac was considered jewelry, but standard for men in 1971 wearing ties. Correct me if I am wrong, but seems like the ring thing was the only reference given to jewerly. We today would include a tie tac and watch in that phrasing. Was there an indication he had worn a ring - like a tan mark? Nothing was said to clarify her remarks (references) regarding jewelry. You guys can read the accountings easier than I can - see if you can find it? I use my memory and it is NOT alway accurate after 18 yrs of chasing all of this crap. Also note there has been NO clarification of Tina stating the DL Cooper photo was close. I sent an email with the 2 pictures to the FBI - one of DL and one of Duane that I use as my avatar now. Those two pics of different suspects - sure are close and Duane's appearance in 1977 he had let his hair go gray. The pictures are very similar and why I finally sent it to the FBI. ONLY because of the rumor that Tina claimed DL was close. There is NO acknowledgement from the FBI that Tina made such a statement. Surgical glue was readily available to anyone working in a dental lab or doing clean up work in a lab in 1970/1971. Duane had access to dental glue. It was considered safe and temporary. This same glue could have been used on his finger tips, but I would have thought that might make it difficult for Cooper to use his fingers to cut the cord, but maybe not. All I know at this time is that what I am stating is feasible and possible and Duane had access. Also with sideburns and a full head of hair I do NOT even think the glue would have been necessary. I do not know if the formulation for the surgical glue use on small incisions is the same as the glue used in dental labs. Duane had made a statement about his ears one time during the last 3 months. He had lost lots of weight and his skin have become translucent in appearance. Those of you who have elderly family members who have undergone lots of treatment know the appearance I speak of. He made a remark that I did NOT clearly understand when I mentioned his ears (just weeks before he died) one day as the sun struck him from his backside sitting with the sliding glass door to his back. I mentioned (without thinking) the translucenty reminding me of Mouse ears. He got riled and told me NEVER TO CALL him MOUSE. I wasn't calling him "Mouse". I only meant that the ears had a pink transluceny at that time (the only time I ever noticed it) - like that of white mice in a lab or on an exaggerated picture put on cards. Remember - I never thought of his ears as big and this was near the end of his life and he was very thin with tissue paper skin and he was very pale. I have never forgot what I said and it was very insensitive of me and he did NOT take it well. It is one of BOO moments one remembers. Oh, well! I can only hope he understood the visual effect the sun gave on that day. It was at this time he told me he had had his ears tacked at one time and it being temporary., I never considered his ears big - mine are big for my face - and also more noticeable due to the lost of elasticity of my skin & the fragility that goes with age and illness and the effects of some medications. I know this on a personal level. The FBI will recieve information, but they DO NOT give out information. All of the communications are monitored. Because of MY communications with the FBI - I know they do NOT talk to others about what is told to them. If they do - their JOB is in jeopardy and such action can cause an agent to be demoted or loose his job all together. Actually this has been a hinderance in the Cooper case since it is over 40 yrs old. The FBI needs to put it ALL out there and I mean everything they got. They need to stop the rumors and misinformation by making FACTs available to the public. Even a list of suspects (named and unnamed) over the last 40 yrs might show a pattern. If a man used many names and lived aloof and moved around (which is the profile). Only a family member or friend or woman companion would recognize the pattern of familiarity - not the FBI. Such as with Weber - no one knows HOW man names he used. When the crime happened I am sure some on in Ks or Ms contacted the FBI with "That man looks like in could have been my ole insurance man - you - know the one who comes every wk or month to collect my premium cause I aint got no checkin account." or "Hey my wife was having some fun at a party and he looked like that composite". Out of Jefferson; "There was a man who looked like that composite - use to get a smoke off him in the yard". "Hey that man was at Jefferson, but I ain't goin to tell you unless you get me outa of here - I'll make a deal - cut my sentence and I'll tell you who he is." Well, ONE does NOT fit the pattern of the others. Weber: I knew Duane Weber for 18 yrs and he actually told me he was Dan Cooper and I actually held the damn ticketin my own hands. He took me to locations in WA that ended up being involved in the money find. Duane had a 17 yr past involving crime. Cook: None of US know who Cook is touting as Cooper anymore - but his subject is very unlikely...and was on an information expedition when he contacted me yrs before "his subject" was brought to the forefront - a son claiming his father was Cooper. Programs like that - cause claims to crawl out of the wood work. At that time he had another suspect and another one before that. I guess he had to try out his suspects to see which one would fit his story best! Marla: She was 8 yrs old and she has made only 2 photos public and never stated the height of her uncle. Sure the FBI would love to get this thing OFF their back - so who knows how they will end it. She claimed the Pic was identified by a subject as being close, BUT that is a BIG BUTT. OH my JO just be nice! (talking to myself). Paul G. I know nothing other than what has been posted on this thread and that AIN't much. The passengers did NOT sign their tickets - THAT is a fact! There is NO handwriting to compare a subject's handwriting specimen to. If there is an active FBI agent making that claim - well then we need to RE-write history. Himmelsbach and Tosaw both indicated Cooper retrieve his note. There WAS no handwriting specimen for Cooper. If the FBI actually has one of Cooper's notes, they have kept it TOP SECRET!

Georger - U KNOW the death certificate will only state he died of cancer....probably not even mention HIV or colon cancer. I have buried two husbands. They give Cause and subsequent cause of death. BIG difference between Jo Weber and others who have made claims. Jo Weber has NEVER asked for one dime nor made or attempted to make any monies off of the story she told from her heart and for 18 yrs now. She has sought earnestly and honestly and has NOT written a book, or took any monies for her efforts. 18 yrs is a BIG wack out of a woman whose life has been consumed by this search. I was 56 when I started this search and I am now 73 - so I assure you this was NOT done for money, a book, a movie or for 15 minutes of fame. If I was lieing or with the same motives as others - I could not and would not have continued this search all of these yrs. Remember I did NOT go public until 2001 - Ask yourself why? I got fed up with the lack of investigative abilities of the FBI. I have still tried to work with them with but they have offered NO assistance as they have with other suspects. So I recently went for the GUST0 and contacted individuals I never thought I would have the courage to confront. 99.99% of those who have followed the Cooper story do NOT know the man behind the scenes. Because it was ALL about the book and making a name for himself and about making the book sell. Some people do NOT care if their story is false - they know it is false and they only do this for their own self benefit. Grey wrote a book - but, what you didn't see or read was his pushing any subject (yet, Blevins some how interpreted Grey's book to support the KC theory). Other books have been written that did NOT push a subject, but Blevins simply went for the Gusto and the story - with NO PROOF. Grey SUPPORTED NO suspect - not one! His interviews left him scratching his head and probably saying to himself - "If I support anyone suspect and I am wrong then I am screwed!" Grey didn't do a GREAT job of his book. but pretty damn good for his first novel. I am sure some time down the road he will write another book! Will if be about Cooper? Maybe! *** You never presented any proof that this interview you refer to actually occurred, and that Lyle told this guy (supposedly) he didn't think his brother was the hijacker. I did ask Lyle about that. He doesn't remember the interview and then asked me why he would say something like that. *** Blevins I do NOT feel like posting this but YOU asked for it! I CAN prove that Lyle did indeed state - he didn't think his brother was the hijacker - he "thought it would make a good story". He DID remember the conversation with a news commentator, but he needed reminding. I personally spoke to him and SO did another person who told the same story and you KNOW that person so I don't have to name him. This other person pulled away because you started building a story! I personally know this for a fact and so do others who personally spoke with and interviewed Lyle back with sound intelligent questions and with no motive other than to make honest enquiries to your claims and claims of others. You made this man sound like a fool...because the Radio program is ALL that was needed to discredit your claim. The death certificate - only a relative can obtain one with cause of death on it. At least that is way it is in the State of Fl. The relative has to provide it to the SS if they are to recieve benefits and to an insurance Co. if the person had an insurance policy. Noticifications of death with out cause of death can be obtain by almost any one...but with cause of death requires a relative....exceptions are made but I forget the procedure. In other words JOE BLOW off the street cannot walk into a records office and ask to see a death certificate - you have to show just cause or be a relative. Duane's mother was named Lorranain Beechler Weber and she died May 9, 1958. Some where in her past is the name Wenz...which I assume was her mothers maiden name. The family per what I know came here as German immigrants, but I do not know were this started and which side of the family was of German Heritage. I am assuming per the name Weber was the immigrants. She married John Claudian Weber Born April 29, 1888 and died April 6 1956 while Duane was in prison 3 children. The oldest being John Claudian Weber who was 13 yrs older than Duane. Born April 24 1911 A second child was Gwendolyn L Weber who married a Roche. She died before John around 2006. Her birthdate and death date I have some place else. She was 6 yrs older than Duane so she would have been born in 1918 Youngest died first and oldest died last - tells you what a good life does for the body. The reason I put all of this out there - is that I am searching for a missling link. The story I heard from Duane, his sister and his brother was about a friend of the mother who also gave birth in 1924, but to a daughter - they were supposedly born very close together and being during the aftermath of a storm named Lorraine the women became fast friends. The other woman went to CA with her husband and in 1943 the Webers came upon hard times and Duane's family relocated to CA. The baby Duane was kicked out of the navy and went to CA and then somehow ended up briefly in the Army. I believe I know the name of the other child born in 1924 and she was female, but I want some of you to do a search and see what you come up with. I believe the family in OHIO who went to CA was named Barth and the child would be the age of Duane. Duane's family lived at the addresses I posted earlier and supposedly their first job there was with Sherwin Williams in the Hunting Beach area arranged by a member of the Weber family in Chicago. A female child born in 1924 was a Barth. I need to know the name of WHO her parents were and when they went to CA and if they came from Ohio. I know that Duane's sister or brother mentioned the name Barth, but only in passing. John (Duane's brother had talked about the 3 guys) - his father and 2 friends who ended up in CA. I have NO idea where the notes are from a telephone conversation early on before the brother's hearing went completely. He tried to tell me about - 3 machinest who went to CA with his father being one of them - because there was NO money to be made in OHIO. Weber was the last of the 3 to go to CA. They had all served together in the war. This is were the story begins - but I need the missing link and with the missing link the rest of story I had been told in bits and pieces - he never thought I could ever put it all together...but, then why did he tell me these little things that someday I would need. The Boeing connection falls into place when you know the REST of the story. Connect Barth and Weber and the other name - is all I need to make the links - then I can tell you things I didn't realize I ACTUALLY already knew. Well, I know you jest, but that "special Lab" was mother nature. Duane did NOT put all of his eggs in one basket...something he alway told me and we all grew up with that old saying. I believe the money was divided into groups of 50K before he made "deposits". One deposit you can BANK on as being a bank in Nebraska, but he may not have done that until 1980 after the other money was found. Parts of it were BURIED or hid in the wall or floor of a shed or storage room. AS Duane told me there was a leak in the storage room, but this was after he had been missing for 5 1/2 hour while I stayed in the motel in The Dalles. He supposedly moved some things for a woman whose husband had died. One can drive ALL the way to Portland/Vancouver and back to The Dalles in way less that 2 hours. So the range from the DALLES is abundant and I was not with him those 5 1/2 hours - so know not where he went. The places he took me and showed me before we crossed over to Hwy 14 in Oregon are a puzzle. I can tell you from his reactions after we crossed over to Hwy 14 on the north side of the Columbia - he had NOT been on the WA side of the river that day. Where ever he went was on the South side of the Columbia. Make ALL the fun you wish because I believe when you see the family connections I have made of Duane to to someone who CONTACTED the FBI on his own accord and was consequently investigated himself, you may then OPEN your eyes wide to the possibility this damn Joker (Duane L. The new format gets confusing for us older guys. Georger I NEED your help but it will have to be done by private email. After you have received the communication with the pictures I need help with then you can place an ignore on any emails I send after that. I know you stay as private as I do in your personal emails, but I need some help only U can provide. I need for you to recieve some photos and then down size them so they can be loaded on to the thread. One of these photos CANNOT be made public, but when you see the connection I made thru OLD photos - even you will want to try to help me with this. If YOU do not - I understand and it will let me know you are only into this for entertainment and not to really solve the case. One photo can never be made public until we have traced the source and the story. The other 3 I need to put on the thread - Duane's mother's pictures. The other woman whose photo appeared in a Cooper connection unrelated to Duane - seems like to me to be the SAME woman. If they are - then Duane's connection to the case are a given. The other party who sent me the pic did NOT know who the woman was and I have had the pic for yrs. All the family knew was a friend of the family. I think this woman is Duane's mother...I have pics of the mother for you to compare with. If you choose NOT to help me on a private basis with this then you do NOT want to solve the case.I am not playing games and I think I have Duane's connections to Boeing solved and how he acquire the information he needed. I think Duane PLANNED this after he was released from Jefferson. Another person told a story about a family member with connections to Boeing and the case. He recieved a phone call before the jump. He did not know who the person was that called - BUT, he did NOT associated the call with his family connections in the late 40's. Will you please help. I need to do this by my reg email. The friend moves to WA and this friend is also a friend of the Weber family. Later the brother and his friend purchase investment property together in Washington near Tacoma. I am NOT using the sequence of the event. When Duane gets kicked out of the army & gets into trouble - these friends of the family tried to help keep Weber out of prison. Duane often mention this place in WA and I did find a connection but not the connector. Friend of the family! Until I made the connections I was not sure were the place was in Washington. This friend of the family tried to help. This troubled young man was fascinated by the conversations and soaked it up like a sponge. Yrs later - many yrs later this young man who was a many time convicted felon - used the information and his knowledge of one of the gentlemen his brother knew....perhaps out of vindication because the brother ordered Duane out of the family home before Mother Weber died. NO one ever put this together until a few yrs ago. I didn't know who the friends where or where they lived. John vaguely mention some relationships - but do NOT know how connected he was in 1971. Duane was someone who needed to be locked up and the key thrown away, but his sister still worried about her brother. A picture is worth 10 million words. I have to figure out how to isolate an old woman in an old picture and put it with the pictures of another unidentified (I KNOW who SHE IS) woman. What you will see will amaze and it makes everything CONNECT. I only found this in the last few days. I had it ALL, but until something made me pull some pics that had bugged me since day one & put them up against each other recently perhaps all of this would have died with me. The other family did NOT know who the woman was either. When I connect the mothers and the grandmothers by photo pics and background - even I thought - Damn it was infront of me all these yrs. Pictures that connected stories from the late 40's. The family did not know what the connections was and I didn't know what the connections was. My gut said it was connected because I could NOT understand how I knew the story other than Duane telling me about the relationship and then his sister. Frankly I think the sister KNEW but did Not want family and friends to her as having a family member who would do such a terrible thing. She actually stated this to me one time...she felt it would be a social faux pas. I have often mentioned a friend of the family - now I know what the link was. The LINK was even investigated regarding the crime but was in no way involved...but the link did not remember that troubled young man in the 40's nor did anyone else! Using CO for an example. I held a CO insurance license and did NOT have to take a state test if I remember correctly as I had held a GA insurance license and was tested there, but I had to give up the GA license. Duane held a GA license also but had to give that up for the CO license and if the states permitted you could have a Non-resident license in other states that are recipitory such as Wy. When Duane was in GA he held a resident license there and a NON- resident in N.C. Duane always made sure he did NOT have to retest. A lot of the rules have changed since I was last licensed in Florida. in 1988. I still have all the paperwork on the licensing after he and I were married and the paper trails. None of it is any good anymore - just afraid to throw any of it away. A non resident was a courtesy thing by most states as one can not draw a line on your business if you live in a small town near the state line. Life Insurance is NOT region specific. One could NOT write for a company nor hold a state license or non-resident license if the company was not register with that state. We usually held one Active resident license and one ajoining Non resident license in the next state over. I simply tell the same things over and over I have told for yrs. Explorations, but NO building. 99.99 % of the time I stick With What I Know! The only facts I do know are what I actually witnessed and/or found proof of. I have NO idea what I was witnessing and my opinions and facts are about ONE person - a man I lived with for 17 yrs! A man whose life I have spent another 18 yrs on top of that exploring! If you think I am building anything - I sure did misjudge you! If one wants to talk about building a story perhaps we need to discuss your assimulated flight. It just so happens I have more of a PERSONAL connection to the case than others...so I will work with anything thrown at me and explore it - but I will NOT tell any lies or deliberately try to make something what it is not. No I did NOT look up the speed limits - I used things I remembered from my life and I do not remember a 55 mph rule on a major highway or expressway in the 70's. Surely when there are farm animals and road crossing - that is common sense. The highways in CO, WY and ID - and lots of places are completely or were completely unobstructive back in the day. The speed limits were discuss previously in the thread. I do NOT know what the speed limit was in 1979 - but if it was 55 miles per hour in the desolated areas of Wym and Utah in 1979 - a lot of people ended up on the side of the road caught in storms. If you are trying to out run a snowstorm - PUSH the LIMITS because when that snow hits and it comes in fast - you might be on the side of the highway for a while to come. I maybe wrong on the speed limits - but, I know how Fast we Drove and I know Duane went way over the speed limits....I am not trying to explain away anything. I know I hit 102 mph in 1964 in Winter Park Florida. I had a child bleeding on the seat and loosing conscience - I knew my child was dying right infront of me and her health was already compromised. A trooper pulled along side of me on that 2 lane highway and I REFUSED to stop. I kept shaking my HEAD NO NO- and pointing into the seat. He then passed me and I was going 102 (104) which means he had to have hit it higher to pass me. I did ease off after he passed me. When I reached the cross road between Castleberry and Maitland I turned on the Castleberry road toward my Dr.s office - I didn't know where the hospital was. I pulled up and carried my frail limp child into the office - and immediately they went to work on her...she had lost a lot of blood and if I had taken her to the HOSPITAL - she would not be the beautiful woman she is today and if she did she would not have her left foot. The trooper thought I was pulling one on him and looped back - and came into the Dr.s office - he did NOT talk to me after the Dr.'s office informed him of the nature of the childs injury and how fragile her health was. I assure you Duane DROVE fast. He was fool hardy! One night coming home from the Holiday Inn on the expressway in CO. Duane was VERY drunk. I begged him to let me drive. WELL, he got pulled over & I ended up driving home alone while they took him to jail. With the record Duane had - I am surprised there was not an warrant out for him! I DID NOT suggest DUANE bought a new car with damaged money. YOU made a HUGE assumption. I had already mentioned going to TAHOE - where he could have exchanged Cooper 20's for clean 20's.! NOT all of the money was damaged.. I think what he put on Tena's bar and a couple of other places was & why he ditched it. In The Dalles, Duane had disappeared for over 5 hours. His explanation was that he went to see an old friend and her husband had died and she asked him to move some things in the shed or storage room. There had been a leak. This is how he explained being soiled. Why didn't he take me with him to meet this old friend? I think he went to retrive some of the money and I think the money was hidden in different places - DON'T PULL ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET! I have not been able to find where I mentioned flying in relation to the 1979 trip to WA with Weber. I flew in 2001 when the documentary took me out there and when I went on my own money in 2010....why I "thought" you were referring to the 2010 or 2001 trip... In 1979 there was NO airfare involved. Seattle the HOME OFFICE of Family Life Insurance. We were traveling agents - and we knew how to conserve. Carried a cooler with food and rarely ate out on the road...we carried an electric skillet. Today they would not allow such but, NO microwaves in motel in 1979 either. 360 miles thru the prairie in Wym to Salt lake - 360 miles . That was at the most a little over over 4 hrs for us. Duane drove very fast & the speed limit was 85, but with a radar detection you could do better that. We always left for our destination EARLY. I would sleep the first part of a trip if I had been there before. It was NOT uncommon for us to be going 90 PLUS! 4 hours max and remember we were chasing the sun...so we gained day light. 7 HOUR max - open country at 85 plus per hour. We reach The Dalles before dark or right at dusk. Remember we were chasing the sun! No problem from The Dalles to Seattle, but if was late when we got to Seattle due to all of the side trips that day. Our room was reserved for a late check-in. Duane had told me he wanted to go early because he had some places he wanted to stop. I seriously do NOT know what the problem is about the time lines and the trip. It is what it is and was what it was - A sentimental Journey! We drove long distances all the time. Open Roads - little traffic in 1971 other than some places like Atlanta. The speed limit was 85 and you could usually PUSH that in the country and on the deserts. Not uncommon to go 100 miles per hour if you had the right car...we drove a Cadillac - relative new I forget what yr now. P.S. After the trip Duane bought a NEW car - an Olds and that is what he left CO with in March/April of 1980. He ditched the OLDS before he got to AL and was driving a NEW ( burgundy) Marque - I never knew where the money came from. I think the Marque was financed, but he had just up and resigned from Family life and went to the South (REAL FAST). He managed to get a new car financed without a job? I did not know his location for several wks. According to the tax records there is ANOTHER car in this mix, but I cannot remember it at all (but it is on the TAX report) nor does my daughter. We helped her buy an old Dodge, but that was with cash...so it is not that one. I just signed the tax reports - I trusted everyone! Wow - if only I had known then what i know now! 1. We lived in Ft. Collins, CO 2. The meeting was in Seattle WA. 3. Salt Lake - we arrived around noon (was probably before noon) and then at dusk we arrived at THE Dalles. 4. Getting to the Dalles was Duane's goal. 5. I had lunch with us - we ate in the car. 6. Duane had a radar detector - he always drove VERY fast! The Company probably paid for that night in the Dalles - we pay and they re-imburse. No vouchers. We drove from The Dalles with all of the side trips and arrived in Seattle way after dark. We ate in the hotel that night and did NOT connect with anyone until the next morning when we ALL - employees and wives had to meet at the Main OFFICE and tour the new Computer system they installed. Huge room and huge machines - technology has come a LONG way since 1979. The company was PROUD of its STATE of the ART system!
