America was built on SIMPLE laws and now they do NOT know what simple is. Perhaps Health care Reform was needed. You can just put some much in one bill. You can pass a bill but, something of this nature should have gone beyond the 500 or so elected official who control the USA. We elected them, but these officials are into government for all the wrong reasons. We Americans allowed this to happen. Now it is time to stand up and fight back. How many pages can be in one bill should be limited and written in simple language any high school student could understand. If not the officials need to look at the education of our children are receiving first before health reform. If they wanted to pass a health care reform bill - it should have been something - Americans as a whole could swallow - not something that will feed the poor, but cause those who did the right things all of their lives to suffer. As a young single mother I paid the rent, the utilities, our heath insurance then - food and clothing were the last things on the list. The people who are GIVEN Health INSURANCE are those who put cars, gadgets, clothes, alcohol, junk and fun BEFORE necessities will be taking money out of my pocket in TAXES. That is NOT fair. This is NOT about their not having jobs nor about the economy as a whole - this is about GIMME GIMME GIMME and so many of the newer generations have used the system day after day and yr after yr. I have watched for yrs while young men and women used the system to pay for their babies and to go to school - Most never learned the meaning of the word responsibility and now I as an old woman I will have to pay taxes on what I put aside to take care of me in my old age - so they will not be without their gadgets and have health insurance. I have watched individuals get special loans to purchase homes they had NO business purchasing in the first place...yet the government continues to offer the subsidies.....If you can't give up something to save for a down payment you do not need to be buying a house. Taxing the Sales of you Homestead - This was sent to me by a retired real estate agent like myself and I want to know if it is true. This person claimed there was NO exemption in the Obama bill for your homestead. Hope some you politically motivated individuals and astute individuals might be able to enlighten me on this subject. I do NOT open junk mail so I was unaware of this and have no connections to the current real estate market beside wanting to sell my own home. How these individuals are claiming Obama bill about the health care bill: When does your home become part of your health care? After 2012! Is the below actually part of the Health care bill. I was told not only is this home sale tax in the bill but 20 some other taxes. Note the below is NOT my words but the words in the email I received: "If you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on it? That's $3,800 on a $100,000 home, etc. When did this happen? It's in the health care bill, -- and it goes into effect in 2013. Why 2013? Could it be so that it doesn’t come to light until after the 2012 elections?" I was sent the actual pages this is on, but I am unable to upload it so I want to find out what those of you who have read it might know. Most homeowners who have homesteaded our homes for yrs and are using them to down size and need to know. Is this true? Is this how the bill actually reads. Is this bill written in such a broad term as to do away with the homestead deduction seniors have relied on and one many Americans have used to climb up to a bigger and better home as their families grow or their incomes increase. I don't care if it just affects investors.... I am talking about home owners who buy their homes and live in them for several yrs and accumulate value (a value the economy has already taken a big chunk out of and if we now have to pay a tax on a homestead - there will be NO profit). In fact a lot of people would have to take money to closing. A realtor charges 7% and the tax is 3.8 and the closing charges are 2% no one will be able to sell their house. Does this mean the buyer pays a tax on on the purchase price? Under the new health care bill all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% sales tax. Is this true and how does the bill actually READ? How is it actually stated in the bill? Is the below an OFFICIAL site or something someone COOKED up. I am afraid to open it because it has the word BLOG in it. I just want to know if what I was told is TRUE or FALSE and how the home tax is actually written in the bill itself and if there is a REAL site one can go to and use search words to look at certain issues. Going back into the past: I had only had a computer for less than 4 months and I was a busy girl. Keyed in dates: I wanted to know what the significance of Nov. 24 meant to Cooper. Duane was arrested Nov. 25 1944, wondered if Nov. 25 in 1944 fell on Thankgiving Eve. Don't remember if I was ever able to figure that out. That arrest was the beginning of his down fall. Nov. 25, 1943 - Raid on Ruhr Brussels -didn't mean anything to me nor nothing Duane ever talked about. Nov. 26, 1956 - Castro fled to Cuba from Mexico - didn't make sense. Nov 23, 1963 Kennedy assassinated. Civil Rights March on Aug. 29, 1963 Just something he talked about and mentioned he was there because of a picture on the news or in the paper one time. I didn't give it a thought. The gold medallion engraved with Gordon 18X3 - Infinity Nan 8-30-70. Tried to figure out what it meant - why it wasn't disposed of - what it meant. Who it belonged to. I mention in the email to the person I am communicating with about Tommy Gunn and Tony Wong and the New Orleans guy whose name I didn't know (one with a baby face)...younger than Duane, but knew him from way back??? I still do not know who Baby face was... Our trip to Memphis and his instruction about if he wasn't back by such and such time to take the car and go home - he would find me! So mysterious! The friend of Duane's I met in Denver who claimed to have been a chauffeur for Howard Hughes - this is when Knoss gave birth to his one legged man....I will assure all that this man was NOT McCoy. Then I write about something I haven't thought much about in yrs now. A man who was coming into the shop - Duane thinks he is a detective or PI and is paranoid about this man...after I learned who Dan Cooper was in 1996 - I found the man and asked him why he came to the shop and how nervous Duane was about his occupation. He just liked collecting old albums (the thick collectibles and Duane picked some up once in awhile). He said he was not investigating Duane. I have even forgot his name. I go back to the memory of his taking leave of his office when an agent transferred into the Atl. district from the area he had worked as John Collins for Pyramid Life. This was related to me by the ex-wife. My phone calls to Pyramid to see if they had any records on John Collins. Just some of the things I checked out and this was all in an email to Doug. Nothing any different than the things I have told on this thread for yrs. The next email I talk about Duane being upset when he thought I had lost his picture of George Wallace - it had something to do with the company he was working for and Union contracts. Later I am receiving emails I didn't understand - and do not remember how they came to be. I tell this "person" the world will think of me as some senseless broad, naive and clueless and think I am making the whole story up. I share with him the threat I received from a man who lived less than 100 miles from my location. How naive I was for 17ys and that I ignored the obvious signs out of fear of being abandoned. That was a true statement - I would have been entirely on my own and I wasn't prepared to do that again. How I knew things were not right, but never confronted Duane about these things and even at his death I was in denial when he made his confession. Clueless or Grief or Choice? Probably all three. I didn't know this man - I could spill my guts out and who would care...he didn't have a clue who I was or even for that matter what I was talking about. So I thought! Even then I am looking for closure and others want to know why I am digging up the past...his family (the sister) wanted the past to remain in the past. I mention what my search is doing to my life and how it affects my relationships...but a few month after I wrote to this man I met my last husband - we became a couple in 2001 and married in 2002 and he died in 2007. Just letting you guys know I am a REAL person with REAL feelings and I have not changed my story as some claim. It has been an exporation into the past of someone whose past was secret. Someone I spent 17 yrs with and never really knew who he was - only to find out he was a 5 time felon and had spent as many yrs in prison as I had been married to him - HOW do you think I felt. Any one of you would have wanted to know the truth. Had he not have told me "I'm Dan Cooper" - I would never have known about his extensive criminal background. I wish with all of my heart and soul he had taken his secret to the grave with him. It is time to take him to WA - and leave him where his memories made him smile... First you were going to step out of the picture - how many time have you left the thread? I lost count. Someone said 49 times! You stated there was NO Bonneville Camp and YOU call yourself an investigative reporter and a resident of WA. Did you pull a little too many tabs before you made that post? The old article from the 25th is just that OLD news and has been discussed before. How they established McCoy was someplace else was discussed by the FBI in detail. From a personal discussion with Mr. Himmelsbach yrs ago (if I remember correctly) it had something to do with some receipts - I do not remember the details and this was in a phone conversation. It was impossible for McCoy to be Cooper, but others have presented their arguments over the yr. You said you would not post the interview with the co-pilot and yet you have not verified you even had an interview. Does the co-pilot know how much erroneous information others have recited regarding their claimed interviews? Stop taking Georger's post so personally. I checked him out yrs ago - seems like it was called to my attention by a local person in the Georgia area. So I made calls. When Dangerous Dan came here he didn't even remember any of this and his story was the very same he recited yrs ago when they pictured him with a stack of money on a table in a bank. He came to the thread making lots of promises - just as he did in the article and he even changed a little of the story. Something you guys do NOT know...an insurance company I worked for and Duane worked for had a OFFICE in his location. I was only with that company for a short period of time and so was Duane. I was not there long enough to add it to my resume - the man who was the DSM was more interested in making me than teaching me how to sell insurance. I do not remember the name of the man or the name of the company at this time...I do not have tax returns going back that far for myself. Duane kept his from 1968 till the yr. he died in 1995...well I kept the last one as I filed for both of us at the end of 1995. Why was Duane Weber so diligent in keeping copies of his tax reports with the W-2's attached? I went to some of the 555 and Nickles site to see if I could recall any names he might have mentioned in our life together, but nothing stood out except 2 things and neither was NOT a name (I have always been terrible at remembering names). The insignia - the patches - I had some of those - I sold them at the same garage sale I sold the piece of chute. I really can't remember what the patches looked like - the were just old patches to me. The patches were all different but they all related to jumping. A ride back into the past - what a ride this has been! A lot of the guys here posted pictures of old patches, but the only thing that stood out to me was red flames on one - but I don't remember anything else about them. These are sites Snowmman brought to the attention of the thread and pictures I had seen before in 1984 in the book Duane brought home - stating that there WAS one of him but someone tore it out. The book disappeared and I never saw it again. A friend had also pull these pics for me prior to my ever getting a computer in 2000. I assume he got them off the same sites I found later and that Snowmman put out for the thread. Agent Carr showed NO interest even when I presented pics of Duane that looked like one of the young men. None of the pic are of high quality. I have explained before about trying to check these guys out. 2 I got no where because the names were so common..such as Max Miller. One guy had 2 different names attached to his image in 2 different photos. The family of the one young man claimed their Uncle or their relative was NEVER in Camino, Ca. This is ALL old stuff. The other spelling got NO where. Melvin in one pic and Marvin in the other - the last names are similar but spelled differently. I was looking for the old navy pic of Duane standing but since I lost lots of things when the computer went down (they are here - just in a format I can open in the pics). Also HOW many of you can stand the way the guy does in the Snow pic with his hand on his hip If you are left handed you just might be able to do it. Right handed individuals will find it very difficult. The names attached to the pics on the site - the family claims was NEVER in Camino, Ca. - One of the names is incorrect - so I found nothing under that. Robert99 go back to school! I did NOT say Duane stole identies to serve - I said nothing that resembled that. He was the extreme opposite of a CO he wanted to serve, but he was a "bad" boy and ended up in prison and the parents had "friends" and made arrangements for him - people who thought they could help him. It was in a CO camp - but they also dealt with WAYWARD young men since it was a religion based organization How the family arranged all of this I do not know...but it did happen. Doesn't mean anything but the FBI has just released files regarding the monitoring of a woman who worked for the Civil Right Commission in Memphis. This was taken from the informant file of the late civil rights era photographer Ernest Withers who died in 2007. All released under the court order to the Commercial Appeal which sued the FBI to unravel Withers' secret life as a "racial" informant. His code number was ME 338-R was one of 5 paid informants. Jo, What do you mean when you call Duane a "CO"? Conscientious Objectors - those who did NOT want to fight a war...you are aware of the CO camps? Robert Blevins lives in WA and yet he denied the Bonneville Camp (this was not a CO camp). Why he could be oblivious to this I do not know...perhaps he did not read the thread prior to his making his entrance to promote his book. This has been a LONG long long trip for me, but hopefully those of you who actually are able to sift through all of the garbage can understand why I believe Duane Weber was Dan Cooper. Even the CO's and the Black Jumpers has enlightened many of you... It seemed like NO one was hearing me on this - I tried to explore it on the thread, but NO one wanted any part of it nor did the FBI agents understand what I was trying to say. I still maintain the truth is so SIMPLE no one wants to believe it. Was Duane actually the one on the ground or was he the jumper? I believe from what I know and what he told me he had to be the jumper. When he made the comment about a certain location being where Cooper walked out of the woods, my reply was "How would you know that". He knew he had to back step and I think the comment he made about maybe his being the man on the ground was his way of doing that. This was the ONLY time COOPER was mentioned on that entire trip! Why? Cooper was not discuss even on the anniversaries and basically in the South - no new media coverage. If it was - he made sure I didn't see the paper as he did in 1980 when the money was found. He had purchased a new car after the trip to WA and I could not understand why. He said he got a good trade and had the money for the balance. This was an Oldsmobile cutlass - he bought this car in Ft. Collins or in Denver. The 1980 announcement is made about the found money and the story is on the front page (a story I did not get to read). After he left CO he immediately bought a new car, but on credit...the Mercury. He went back to the South - and I am sure he checked to see how much the media was running articles on Cooper. He felt safe and came home for my daughters graduation and then left...very quickly. The moving truck I drove to AL with my daughter and a young man who was going to hike the Apalachicola...he relieved me of some of the driving and stayed with us for about a month until it was time to put him on a bus to meet the rest of his group. I chose you to make this reply to tonight, but it is for eveyone of you who read this and who have followed this saga thru the yrs. What I have tried to do is stay with the basics and MATTHEW CLINE has been instrumental in this, without attacking me. Thank you, Matt for shifting thru all of the trivial stuff. By your making me focus on what transpired in the very beginning has been a breath of fresh air. What I told the FBI in the beginning and then entered JT who kept telling me NONE of this existed - nothing I was describing existed and that I kept changing the story. What I exchanged with Doug and what I wrote to him was before all of the media stuff, but JT distorted the things I kept trying my best to relate. His tactics basically was to undermine the locations. Even to this day he will not admit that my little MT or hill existed and insists I claimed we were on the OR side all the way to Portland - he made me feel like I had lost my mind. He would twist and turn every word I said....I actually thought I was loosing my mind at that time - the stress caused me go every which way. After the story broke the only objective by most was to discredit me and I do NOT know why. A lot of people got to me and filled my head with things that I was able to connect to Duane's strange life. Knoss came into it - and that was the worst part of it all...it made a mockery of me...I don't blame the FBI for ceasing any investigation into Weber at that time. Then along came Carr who was no help at all - he just furthered the discreditations. He just would NOT look at the simple facts....no one really heard me until the last few days. Perhaps the facts and dates are ALL just co-incidental, but that is what I am trying my best to do is keep to what I know and not what the theories have been. To dismiss the things told to me by others who only wanted to fire the Cooper Saga up. Duane's past was NOT beyond dispute. I, like the FBI and others looked beyond the very obvious for answers. The last few day not being attacked by Knoss or JT and with individuals who are logically trying to help me find some answers has lifted this heavy load off of my shoulders. We have gone back to where I started in 1996 - the memories and the things Duane did relate to me about his life....the things he told me and my memories and information Duane's family related to me and the things Doug Pasternac uncovered. Without Doug I would not have what Documentation I do have about Duane's criminal records and military records. All of this goes right back to the time frames I felt needed to be disputed and discussed and investigated - NO one did that until NOW. 17 yrs later individuals are seriously looking at the simple answers and helping me to find my way through all of this. Most individual know I compose my posts right here on the thread and then go back and edit out stuff that didn't need to be said and I make mistakes in dates and other details doing this, but that is the only way to do it - for me. The way the world is today - you buy a book and read it and then a couple of yrs later you pick up what is supposedly the same book and things ahve been sugar coated or stated differently. Such as Grey wanted to know what he could change in the Paper-back to make me happier about the image he portrayed of me as a bar-pick-up and hick with a kerchief. I was very angry about this and I still am - evidently. My family is very unhappy about it also...none of us ever dreamed anyone would take my KY twang and make it fit the image of a slut and country hick....or that anyone would consider this a Comedy! Below is a paragraph written by one of the guy who read the book. This explains what I have stomped and screamed and raged about for yrs. "Lauunched during the winter of 1944-45" Exactly when Duane went to WA. to prison - note he was sentenced from CA in January of 1945 to a prison in WA. He was eligible for parole in July of 1945 - 5 months later. He was also underage for a federal prison - The prison record showhe was born in 1920, but he was born in 1924 and this is how the family and friend got him out in less than 6 wks, but the file do not reflect this and all of the back file had been destroyed - one woman did dig into old files but found no back-up information on him - the file had been destroyed. One has to know the reputation of that prison to know - Duane being only 18 yrs old was in REAL jeopardy. That prison was only for the repeat offenders and sexual crimes, but the judge who sentenced Duane was a hard liner - on guy sentenced by the same judge got life in McNeil, but he got out later also. This judge did not care for CO's, or anyone who was discharged from the service other than honorably. He actually hoped they got killed in the prison itself. Duane's family fought to get him out and he never entered the main stream of the prison...and was not held there more than a few wks. The old records they destroyed probably showed he was under age and place in one of the work camps - the woman told me this was common during that time. "Launched during the winter of 1944-45, about nine thousand such bombs started on the trip from Japan to North America, riding the almost unknown "jet stream" across the vast Pacific Ocean. A very clever (and very cheap) altitude regulation device kept the hydrogen filled bombs at the right height in the stream, dropping sand ballast when needed. At the end point of the run, a self destruction mechanism dropped the bombs and set the hydrogen filled balloon ablaze." Another book on these balloons is "Balloon Bomb Attacks on North America", by Robert C. Mikesh, Aero Publishers, Inc., 1982. An amazing site. The designation I have tried to describe before and do not remember the source or where it is in all this CRAP I have. I rememered in my reading that these guys were something else before being trained in 1944 or 1945 to jump into the forest to fight fire....and this was before the actually formation of the WA smoke jumpers. The camp "Lloyd' Johnson and his brother trained was AFTER these guys, but Derry was involved in their training to use the chute in the manner he had designed them....Derry was instrumental in all of this - he had an investment there. Later came the training for what actually became known as the Smoke Jumpers as we know them today. Since most of this is just in my brain I do get things mixed up, but I have the contradictory site - just not all in one place and some of the books. I would like to see proof of which came first because this is becoming a mismash. I am certain the training by the Johnson's and the formation of the "the smoke jumper trained just to fight fires" was after the military guys had been trained by Derry to use his chutes to fight fires or maybe it all overlapped. I had never heard of Derry training an all black crew and even the article did not reference this. This is something you guys will need to filter out and I believe that can only be done by checking the WA state records 1st hand and not by sites written by individuals like us after the fact. Well as for a book - I could have done that yrs ago, but I was NOT looking for fame or fortune. I wanted the truth and to know who I was married to for 17 yrs. One man went so far as to do a contract and his querry letter had absolutely nothing to do with the many hours of tapes he made. I fired him and disolved the relationship - never again. Not one word of truth was on stated on the 2 pages he wrote. As for there being other verbal or written confessions - the FBI never produced any PROOF of this. (This claim is all hear-say). I know some guys locked up in the drunk tank made claims and they stopped investigating these type of things. If the FBI was actually consulted and actually reports made public I believe you will find they seriously investigated these multiple suspects but not because the suspect confessed to a family member or friend that they were Cooper...when they were dying. The few who did claim to be Cooper - turned out to be in most cases - "braggarts" like JT and drunks....individuals quickly proven not to be Cooper. Find out if the FBI will reveal to you exactly how many confessed to a wife or family member before they died - (discount repeated claims by drunkards). If you are FBI or have a REAL connection with them find out the ACTUAL number of suspects investigated because they made a confession to a family member. You will find the quickly dispelled those and mostly it was "BAR talk". If anyone know of a wannabe who was investigate beside Coffelt give me a name. Surely these individuasl at least got a mention in the local news. What you are repeating about 1000's of confession is a number created by a member of this thread and never reported by the FBI as being substanciated. I "expect" his first exposure was thru McNeil because of the shortage of man power to maintain roads, airport and forestry aid. (This was addressed in a book written about McNeil - a very old book). Jo State: I do believe he had "exposure to these guys" - while still in prison and they became hero's to him...I believe he kept a relationship with one individual who ended up in the N.Orleans area - perhaps 2. In July of 1945 some changes were made - I believe he followed these guys to Walla Walla as he ran errands for them to make purchases. Duane spoke of this in the third person which is how he told me about things I now know he really did. He made reference to "boy" when talking about things in the area... Why I think he was referred to as BOY jokingly by these guys and it could just be that he considered himself a BOY in the 40's. In a letter to his mother from Camp Siebert he makes reference "this Boy is going to make good" dated in 1943. He was working in The Dalles area and someone in that area connected to the Fire Dept had a personal connection with Duane. (The above statement has little chance for suppositions -because he told me this on that trip). The proof to that is there, but the court house was closed for the 2 days I was there because of the election. He mentioned the guys and this group of guys was not part of the 555. These other guys worked as CO's....these guys were in the Mt Hood area and I was able to verify that...but all had deceased when I made attempts to find them and "one" didn't exist! Duane took me one specific park and told me there was a rock there with his initials under it. It was raining that day and we had to move on. This is when he told me about a grave yard not far away which I found in 2010. An old friend - someone he used to know was buried there. I pulled up the records for the graveyard and the one name that stood out - there was NO grave marker (again I had hit WA in the rain, but the markers looked so old and I walked what I could - should have had a local with me - so little time and so much money and no contacts). I went to the Parks & Services & Forestry checking to see if his name appeared - but their files are incomplete for those yrs, but the guys really tried to find something for me. Duane worked in many of those parks, but under what capacity and what name I have not been able to find out...the FBI will not help. I may have been at the wrong cemetary...I was using my sense of direction and didn't ask the locals if there was another cemetary near there that was relative new in 1979. ==================== Matt States: (Which history shows was in the region, it is well documented and discussed at 555th Reunions, I have attended two of those). Here he picked up his knowledge of parachuting. Later, in prison again, he picked up the idea of a hijacking. Later he committed the hijacking, alone, keeping the money for himself and escaped the woods and many years later meets you marries you and then confesses to you, mostly, just before passing away. It was still working 20 years ago... and had a rough cut mill up in the hills and the wood was floated down the flume. I cannot believe any of you are this uninformed - especially those who live in Wa and those who have read this thread or kept up with this at all....especially you Robt Blevins. You know what Camp Bonneville was. CAMP BONNEVILLE IS NORTH OF WASHOUGAL - IT WAS A MILITARY RESERVATION and on that reservation was all of the things he pointed out to me as we cut over to 500. Little Baldy, Camp Killpack, Munsell Hill, Spud Mt and Lilvingston MT. Hard to believe any of you do not know this. Go read all of my posts and my research from the very beginning and the story I told to the FBI. The creek Duane told me that run near the power lines that cut right through Camp Bonneville. Little Matney Creek was the creek that went under the power lines. There was a gravel pit on the property and there was a cemetary just West of it. The damn pipe line ran thru the S.W. corner of it. You guys are supposed to know WA if you are writing books and talking about Cooper. None of you remember the story he told me about Bonneville? Give me a break - all of these yrs and none of you know the geography and history of WASHINGTON? Surely you jest or this thread has been useless if NO one got the story about Camp Bonneville and the history of the Camp! Geeze I have discussed this camp many many time and the story that went with it. Also a little town south of there called Ireland - we even had a poster who contacted me who lived near there. If you do not know what Bonneville camp was and you want me to produce things that are lost on the internet - then get yourself to FL and you can find it yourself. Plan on about 2 months of reading and searching. When you see the size of the file perhaps you will at least say "I'm sorry". I don't have my stuff at my finger prints with the push of a button like you young geeks do! I am trying to lay some things out so I can end this and would appreciate it if Knoss would just shut up about Duane or JO. I do NOT want BK interjecting things into anything I am telling about Weber at this point. BK has absolutely NO knowledge of Duane and causes everything to go off subject just to deal with the stuff he throws out. If he really cared about this being solved he would just sit back and wait for the plane to arrive. Hope you guys can do something about his and I will try to anwser your questions, but not questions deliberately staged to make an idiot out of me - such as interjecting The Bonneville Dam in place of something else. Correct me but don't try to make me sound like an idiot. Sure - I have somethings wrong, but I know in my heart of hearts and my soul that Weber was Cooper - if anyone of you can PROVE he wasn't without trying to make a mockery of me or without deliberate lies, then do it. The dream was real and when he decided to reveal the truth it was too late - all he could do was attempt to redeem his soul.....He didn't need to do that - and I wish he had never told me any of it. Now I just need to know the rest of the story - so I can spend what is left of my own life in peace. If Weber did NOT commit this crime - then why the nightmare about leaving prints on the plane in 1979 and why did he confess that he was Cooper at the end of life - 16 yrs later in 1995.
