I can, but it seems you are having difficulty in that respect. Sure there were a lot of Repubs who got dererments, etc. There were also a lot of Dems. And a lot of people who were of neither party. But for you to sit there and call some of them cowards in one breath and then say Clinton wasn't in the next is so hypocritical it makes no sense at all.

Only if you did it the way so many of them did..to get out of serving while others served in their place and died. Most of them are MORE than willing to send OTHER people off to foreign wars.. but not their children... they are CHICKENHAWKS.... talk like a HAWK.. act like a CHICKEN. True Cowards thru and thru. And you might be surprised to know.. I voted for Nixon. I voted for Reagan.. once upon a time a Republican was the better person for a given position.. but these days I can not in good conscience vote for any I have seen in years...because most of them ARE COW DUNG posing as moral upstanding citizens.. who spout religeous bullshit for the masses that actually believe their crap. And recently we are CERTAINLY seeing the TRUE COLORS of so many of them.... corruption....pedophiles....gay preachers preaching fire and brimstone against gays...the Party Of Hypocrisy. What of the Dems? Why did you not list any of them? Bill Clinton is a known draft dodger, perjerer, and adulturer. Since he admitted to deliberately avoiding the draft is he not, under your definition, a coward?
-
Did you avoid serving by, for example, seeking deferments? Nope. In fact I was turned down by all branches because of a lower back injury. My dad was registered and still has his card, but was never drafted. His father tried to join in WWII but was instead put to work helping to build and convert manufacturing plants. My other grandpa served in the Czech army as a machine gunner and got the hell out of there before Hitler had his way. Just out of curiosity, how many of those prominent Repubs listed by Amazon deliberately dodged the draft, how many were like my father and just weren't drafted, and how many were like my grandfathers? To accuse someone of cowardice just because they didn't serve, without knowing the underlying reasons, is an injustice unto itself.

I never served....does that make me a coward? My father never served...is he a coward as well? Never mind answering since in your mind being a Republican automatically makes someone a piece of cow dung unworthy of even existing on the same planet as yourself.

The current leaderships actions during the Vietnam war certainly qualifies... One got an impossible to get appointment ...that for most of the young men at the time to get to get into a National Guard Unit that was protecting from....uh....hmmmmm.....rather than going to Vietnam... or most of them who never served.. yet they are willing to send off other peoples kids to far off wars that they would NEVER go to.. nor will they allow THEIR children to go to while they line their pockets. Sounds like a good definition of cowardice. I think Bill Clinton would be a better example since he outright dodged the draft under the excuse that to serve in 'Nam would, as he put it, ruin his political viability. So Bush served in the NG. Lots of people served in the NG. He also trained in jet fighters, a pretty dangerous activity in its own right. Yeah, I think BC would be a better example of cowardice.

Ok, so PAs against anonymous posters can get you time off. But what about PAs against one's self?? If I call myself an asshat, will I get banned? What if the PAs are mutual and consensual?

As much as it pains me to side with Kallend, I have to on this. One click on his website link and you'll get all the info about him you want, short of whether he wears boxers or briefs. Anyone who freely gives out that much info can't in any way, shape, or form be accused of anonimity.

Just as impressive, if not more so, is his 6 consecutive podium finishes as a rookie.

If the police can record the traffic stop then what is the problem with someone else doing the same thing? Goose- gander situation.

Start over: Why does a person buy a gun for?
willard replied to FlyinDawg's topic in Speakers Corner
I tend to think the same way. When I had my Sharps 45/70 I was loading with real black powder pushing a 525 gr bullet. After much testing a load was derived that gave me app. 975 fps at the muzzle. Not very fast, but with high quality vernier sights it was normal to run a string of 10-15 consecutive hits on a 12"x12" steel plate at 500 yds. Standard deviation in velocity for that particular load was less than 10fps. -
Pace not renewed as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs
willard replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
So based on performance and leadership with the current situation.... I guess you would rather ...stay the course. Uhhhh.....if you want to read that into my post than I guess there's nothing I can do to stop you, but that wasn't at all what I was implying. In fact, I was trying to avoid implying support or dismay with the current administration. -
Pace not renewed as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs
willard replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
What I'm reading is that the Bush administration doesn't want Pace's re-confirmation hearing turned into an inquest on its failures in handling the Iraq war. So he's being sacrificed to make sure that doesn't happen. I think that would make him a sacrificial lamb more than a scapegoat since they haven't (yet) tried to place blame on him for all that has gone wrong . -
A mug & brush doesn't have that problem.

As one of my professors put it, "History is not what happened, history is what we THINK happened." Whether that history is what we observe or are told, whether accurate or not, is what separates reality from illusion. The son of a friend of mine attended a Catholic school through 8th grade. When he started public high school he had never heard of Pearl Harbor or Normandy. The textbooks they used at his school had no mention of them and only briefly mention anything about WWI or WWII.

Again, we know that matter and energy exist. They must either have always been in existence, or at some point came into existence. We have no evidence that god exists, so right there all theories of how he came to exist become a lot less likely. Secondly, the theist argument is that the universe is too complex for it to have come into existence (or always existed) from nothing. An intelligent god capable of creating the universe is surely more sophisticated than the universe itself. Therefore, from the theist point of view, it is less likely to have come into existence itself. That's kind of what I think. Of the two...an intelligent being capable of creating other intelligent beings (God) or a scattered jumble of stuff...which is most likely to spontaneously arrive? We have proof that one of them exists, but not the other (unless one takes a gathering of stories as solid evidence).
-
This is a point that's a problem for both theists and atheists. Is it or is it not possible for something to either have always existed or come into existence out of nothing? --Head If it is possible for God to have always been, then why not the stuff that makes up the universe? If it is possible for God to have suddenly popped up from nothing, then why not the stuff that makes up the universe?

Fixed it for you Ahhh yes, right you are!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If we wanted we could show similarities between the Pope and Satan. Those who dispise Bush will always find evil in what he does, other will just see, at the most, clumsiness and stupidity. One thing we can point out is that by the time Hitler had been in power for 6 years he already had, for all intents and purposes, ultimate authority and control. Bush's low favorability in Congress and with the public will never let him even get away with so much as a veto without catching hell.

My parents hosted an exchange student from the Czech Republic. His English skills were marginal at best. The most effective tool we found for helping him improve his conversation, pronunciation, reading and writing in English was playing Scrabble. Simple to learn and a constant learning experience.

Last fall I kept my parents' cat while they were on vacation. Just one question...how can an 8 pound cat eat 1/4 pound of food and 1/2 pound of water a day and still make 10 pounds of cat crap???? I took the cat to the shooting range with me and she instantly was hooked. It wasn't long before she wanted her own rifle. It was tough finding her one, but eventually I did and she is now an excellent marksman (markscat?). Here's a pic of her staking out the neighbors dog.

An MSD System (Multiple Spark Discharge) can greatly improve Combustion and improve Fuel Economy by ensuring that more fuel is ignited with the Cylinder and greatly improves horsepower. Absolutely. An MSB ignition does provide for a greater opportunity for ignition to take place. But that is still part of the ignition sequence, not the burn sequence. Burn characteristics are influenced by, among other things, compression ratio, piston shape & texture, combustion chamber shape & texture, pre-ignition and post-ignition turbulence, spark plug position, piston speed, and thermal properties of the cumbustion area. The greatest influence the ignition sequence has on the burn characteristics is ignition timing. I have nothing against an MSD unit and have recommended them to people before. They are a good ignition and worth the money. One thing that does show up on the dyno and at the track is that the better the ignition system is designed and installed before MSD the less of a difference will be seen.
