  1. 8 I repeated level 2 By the way, if you're spending fortunes on failed AFF dives, why not get some tunnel time? I spent 4 minutes in the tunnel between level 4 and 5 and it made a world of difference. I was a tense and struggling on level 4, flying and having fun on level 5. Try to find some deals and you can save some money AND progress at the same time.
  2. For some reason my legstraps hurt the inside of my thigs (the tendon running from my crotch/groin area to my thigh and the muscles on the inside of my thighs near the groin) I've tried loosening them and tightening them. Nothing helps. I don't understand why the legstraps are so wide near my buttocks because my body weight seems to push down on the more narrow front part of the legstraps? It's so bad that I don't like to do spirals anymore Any bright ideas? Jumping student gear...
  3. 1. You will not feel the same butterflies as in the amusement park ride. It feels somewhat different. 2. If you want to skydive regularly, skip the tandem. If it's just a one time deal, tandem might be the thing for you as you won't be distracted by drills and gasps and other exercises you have to do during AFF. You will miss out on landing the canopy yourself though.
  4. There are a few posted on this forum. http://www.bpa.org.uk/safetydocs/cpmanual.pdf http://www.bpa.org.uk/safetydocs/chmanual.pdf
  5. Last saturday, AFF level 3 or 4, I discovered that (my more experienced) neighbour in the jumplane, was jumping a broken altimeter. We were at 12.000 feet, just about to jump and it was still stuck at ground level. I felt like a dick as my AFFI just shook his head
  6. I'm probably going to get an introductory course which concentrates on basic RW (as in really basic learning how to fly) and canopy piloting. Those are the skills you need the most in the beginning of your "career". We don't really have a license system over here so I'll also try to get into some 10way head downs when I complete the intro course. And freestyleswoop the peas of course.
  7. So when do you guys think it's time to ask a "dog" (yeah I hate that word alright) about learning CRW? Or: when should I think about trying some CRW jumps? Straight after AFF? A license? 111-222 jumps? Thx
  8. Your attitude is arrogant and disrespectful to anyone who has ever been scammed. You also called OP an idiot which is a PA in my book. People like you shift the blame from criminals to victims and by doing so you are basically part of the problem. * "Excuse me officer, *sob*, I just got raped by a trucker" - "Ok ma'am. Just three questions before we can help you: Was he drunk?" * "I guess he had some beers with me." - " Did you get in his truck?" * "Yes...yes I did." - "Ok ma'am. Did you get in his truck wearing those clothes?" * "Yes but I don't see..." - "LMFAO you dumb ****. Sorry but we have no sympathy for you as this is an idiotfree zone." (I'm not comparing rape to scamming and I do NOT feel the same way as the cop. Just making a point about blaming the victim. If any man or woman reading this was sexually assaulted, I apologize if you feel I'm mocking your pain. I AM NOT.)
  9. - NEVER PAY THROUGH WESTERN UNION - OFFER TO COME AND PICK UP THE RIG YOURSELF. IF YOU CAN'T...PASS (this doesn't guarantee that if they agree you won't get scammed, or if they don't agree that it is in fact a scam) - LATELY THERE HAVE BEEN LOTS OF RIGS FROM ITALY. - WHY WOULD SOMEONE SELL A RIG 2000 DOLLARS UNDERVALUE? THAT'S RIGHT...IT'S A SCAM
  10. I have filed multiple scam reports over the last couple of days. Is there REALLY no way to make this into a HUGE banner/sticky on here AND on the classified pages? - IF YOU SEE A SCAM MARK IT AS A SCAM AND DON'T TIPTOE AROUND, MARK IT 99% SURE SCAM SO IT DISAPPEARS. - DO NOT BUY A CHEAP RIG FROM ITALY. I SWEAR TO GOD I'VE SEEN AT LEAST A DOZEN SCAMS, ALL FROM SOME DODGY ENGLISH SOUNDING NAME IN ITALY - NEVER EVER PAY THROUGH WESTERN UNION UNLESS YOU'RE SENDING THE MONEY TO YOURSELF OR SANTA CLAUS Seriously...how do people still get scammed. Please put some HUGE ass notice everywhere you can. Seen a thread like this not too long ago.
  11. Thanks for the advice but it's not a matter of money. The course has been paid for. I jump at a small dropzone. The wheather has been crap and now there are more students than there are instructors. I have go say I felt like a fuckup after that jump. I rushed my exit and botched my arch. I really don't understand since level one was so easy. I'm glad my landing was ok.
  12. I totally fucked up AFF2 and have to repeat it. Lost my arch after practice pulls and was instable from that point on. Pulled for myself, great tip-toe landing (if I do say so myself) I guess it wasn't a total disaster but all in all didn't think I was gonna pass so I can agree with the instructor's choice. Still...five weeks since my first jump which went "absolutely fabulous"...sucks to have to repeat level 2 which is essentially the same jump only easier. Fuck's sake...
  13. GODDAMN YOU CLOUDS AND WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. If they don't know you by noohooooooooow, they will never ever know you... Well they will. Just that they already do. No need to name and shame if you dont want to
  15. So this fear of yours has evolved from pre-jump fear, to in-the-door fear and finally under-the-canopy fear? I hope you're not a beer drinker because it's only a matter of time before you get post-jump fear
  16. What the hell? They told you to google it??? Man this thread sure puts things into perspective. Like Base813 said: if people are snappy, let it go over your head, if they are cunts, go to a different DZ.
  17. There must be some level of difficulty for answering the question asked that I'm not seeing. Haha, it's just that I'm not a lambo man and I think Ferrari are thirteen in a dozen. Plus I like planes and bikes more. I mean if I asked you if you'd prefer water or lemonade I bet you'd say beer.
  18. Bike: Ducati Desmosedici Car: Koenigsegg CCXR EDITION Plane: MXR Technologies MX2 Anybody got any money?
  19. Well if I had stayed on the dropzone all day I could have made a jump. But the intsructors had told us around 11 am that we shouldn't wait for the weather to clear. So I went home. Sunday, the wheather also cleared even though they had predicted bad wheather. It sucked looking at that blue sky from my backyard. Next time I'll take a book or watch the skygods pack.
  20. I think he said what he said because not too long ago a baséjµmper almost got killed when his pilot chute actually tore off because he had attached it in a similar matter. Never feel bad for asking something though. (edited because I hate hotlinking)
  21. You probably had your reasons. As for the weather holds: I started AFF 4 weeks ago. Then I had a period of three weekends were I was abroad so I couldn't jump. When I arrived at the dropzone yesterday, I found my fellow students in the bar. They hadn't made a second jump either due to bad weather. Yesterday we got winded out as well.
  22. Series If I could pick only three: Great Teacher Onizuka Azumanga Daioh Cowboy Bebop And then some: Evangelion Samurai Champloo Full Metal Alchemist Love Hina Hikaru No Go GreenGreen Trigun Films Grave of the Fireflies Akira Spirited Away Manga Berserk
  23. That's right. Because I'm such an attention whore: my AFF1 story. We had taken the day long course last saturday but got winded out. Today the wheather was fine. My buddy was in the first load and I was in the second load. Homeboy flared too high and ate some grass. But he had a great time so good for him. I was slightly nervous before boarding the plane. I'm afraid of flying so that must have been it, cause once we got to 5 grand I felt completely relaxed. Prejump observation: a rig is heavier than I thought. My AFFI's were (I won't name names) a cool dude who had pretty much the same dialect as me (don't ask...I live in a strange country) which meant communicating was easygoing. He was pretty funny and told me to relax about 10 times (you paid a shitload of money for this so never mind the drills...just arch and enjoy edited to add: and check alti so you can pull because it's more fun to pull for yourself ). My right side AFFI was guy who was on world team 2006 so can't go wrong with that. So by the time I sat in front of the door I was basically unaware I was jumping out of a plane. Jump: Had a few seconds of sensory overload as I looked down on exit and saw nothing but ground. I can't quite describe the feeling but it was something between rollercoaster butterflies and diving into cool water. I quickly regained awareness, pushed my hips down (somehow I remembered the "screwing a lepper through an electric fence" trick I read on here) and started my drills. Gasp 1, practice pulls, Gasp 2 and when I really checked my alti we were flying at 8000 feet. Looked around a bit, AFFI pointed out where the dropzone was, and by 5500 I waved and pulled. Must say that it took some time (2 seconds) to open but just as I was about to look up for a ball of shit I was pulled into the harnass. The canopy was pretty responsive to my input and we're talking a 230 or a 260 against my 200 pounds of exit weight. So I understand why it's not a good idea to start under a skyrocket now. The instructor had told us nobody had ever flared too late so I made it my goal to become the first guy to do so. Flared after all and landed uneventfully. Had a hard time picking up the canopy with everything in it though Afterwards: beer. All in all it wasn't the life altering experience I saw a few of my fellow jumpers experience. Maybe I was a bit too relaxed about it once we got to height? The exit was thrilling but I think I need a few more shots before I can really enjoy the flying. I'm still thinking about whether or not I'm taking the full course. Thx for reading
