QuoteYou could also look at this as when you leave it goes back to how it use to be and george bush has just blown all those tax dollars. that will be a kick in the teeth [reply/] So you think it will be how it used to be? Germany - After World War I we left, Hitler rose to power, we defeated him and are STILL there. We have many military bases in Germany to prevent what happened after World War I. Japan - Having learned our lesson from Germany, we stayed in Japan and are STILL there. South Korea - Having learned our lesson from Germany, we stayed in South Korea and are STILL there. Iraq - We are building permanent bases are are going to stay there. This is not a new thing for our country. We have defeated dictators before and brought democracy and prosperity to other countries in the aftermath of war. We are an impatient society who has to see everything right NOW. We ARE doing the right thing over there.

This, from the US Government itself, destroys the credibility of this so-called "letter". Note the date! March 2004. A lot can happen in a shor t amoutnt of time. But thanks for playing.

I can't repond other that the fact there were both in the same guard unit. I'm sure something like this would get around quick. Tell me why I shouldn't believe my buddy or what is written? Does the fact that this has been around make it less crediable? Does it make the successes in Iraq suddenlly turn to failures. Even if it's been posted before and my buddy lied to me and it isn't from his buddy, I still think it's worthy of being read. As a former soldier and also former member of the media I am frustrated with the focus on the negatives in Iraq from our major news outlets.

THis is an email an Army buddy sent me from one of his other buddies. As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing.) * Over 400,000 kids have up-to-date immunizations. * School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war. * Over 1,500 schools have been renovated and rid of the weapons stored there so education can occur. * The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off-loaded from ships faster. * The country had its first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August. * Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq. * The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war. * 100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed, compared to 35% before the war. * Elections are taking place in every major city, and city councils are in place. * Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city. * Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets. * Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country. * Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers. * Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever. * Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs. * An interim constitution has been signed. * Girls are allowed to attend school. * Textbooks that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years. Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there, and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening. Thanks for all the support guys, but honestly it doesn't really hurt that much. It feels good knowing that I did the right thing. Right now one of my good friends just broke up with his girlfriend and he's hurting a lot more than I could and I'm just trying to be there for him. If I allowed myself to wallow in self pity about a relationship that wasn't even there it would really show me how shallow I was. Even so what does hurt is my beloved Yankees losing 3 games in a row, now THAT hurts.

Indianapolis is a great city. I moved here two years ago knowing no one and nothing about the city. The people here are awsome. Some of the most wonderful friends I could imagine I met here. I am proud to be a Hoosiers if they'll claim me!

What's the biggest speeding ticket you've ever gotten?

Date: Nov. 9 1971 Place: Chicago Illinois to South Bend Indiana Happenings: After robbing a liquor store and shooting the clerk once in each leg we made our getaway in in 68 Dodge. (Yellow with black trim) As we exited the store an off duty officer walked in, we were in the car when a bullet shattered the back window. The cop had found the injured clerk and had put two and two together. We made our escape only to be trailed by no less than 32 Chicago PD and Illinois State Police Officers. As we crossed the border into Gary Indiana we were met by a semi road block witch we were able to by pass with minimal damage, except now my buddy was now bleeding from a gun shot to the abdomin. As we traveled East the police in pursuit radioed ahead to a national guard armory near South Bend, we were met 5 miles from South Bend by 3 Sherman Tanks and 4 helicopters. After an 8 hour gun fight which took the life of by beloved friend Mitch. I was able to slip away in the Fog and confusion and begin my new life as a mechanic is Southern Louisiana. I died in December of 1977 of a massive heart attack and was reincarnated as Steve son of Donna and Alan less than a year later. At least I think that's how it happened. -
Well actually ... no we haven't slept together, however we have kissed and when we were watching the game we weren't exactly sittng on oppisite sides of the couch. That said, we did talk last night on the phone. It's obvious that even though she's been in this relationship for awhile she's not sure it's gonna last, but I told her we should not see each other anymore. She understood, she knows it's for the best, but she doesn't like it.

Even if I told you it was your girlfriend?

I used to love it, but after years of eating it by the ton, it makes me sick even thinking about it. The same goes for BBQ chips and Macaronni and Cheese!
-
The point is I don't WANT to let it go but, I HAVE to let it go. If when we met she was single I'm sure we would be dating, but she's not. I'm not a believer that there is ONE right person for someone. So I cut my losses and move on! If she is ever single and I am at the time I'll see what happens, but I'm not gonna hold my breath, if I did I would missing out on a lot of other wonderful things in life.

Nice! I've seen it happen accidently. A static line student held on to long and the wind grabbed the static line. The chute opened wrapped around the tail of the air plane and actually tore off part of the plane.

Thank you for your permission.

Not gonna happen, but if she did, I wouldn't date her right now. She would have to have time to get over her relationship. Not a smart move dating someone after they broke up especially since they been together for quite awhile.

Those are the thoughts and things that I am avoiding! Bad Bad Bad!
-
Well she called while I was a lunch with a client. I called her back told her we need to talk. So she's gonna call be back tonight. This sucks!
-
I don't think, strike that, I know that will not work in this situation. Because there is to much intrest on both sides not just from my side.
-
That's something I am very afraid of!
-
... but we get along so well. She came over last night we watched the Yankees game together. But, I'm thinking I'm going have to stop seeing her all together. We have been in some pretty comprimising situations and I'm not gonna let her be that girl and I'm not gonna be that guy. I'm at work and all I'm thinking about is how much I wanted her to spend the night last night, and how much it'll suck not to even see her anymore. WTF Oh well I'm venting.
