  1. Well I am crashing for the evening... Good luck with the E.R. Get licensed and give me a call, or just give me a call. Haha j/k Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  2. Yeah I ended up taking 36 jumps to do it. There was a year in there where I didn't jump. A trip to Florida and Deland reinvigorated my interest. Don't tell me you work at Hennepin County. If you do I am surprised you have time to look at the computer at all. I had a cousin who was a trauma surgeon at that hospital. Anywho get licensed and make the trek up here. Good time and the beer is always ice cold. Edit: Whoops didn't notice you were at Mayo's. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  3. I don't know we will probably be jumping up here. We need some more fun jumpers up here. So that means you should come up here and make some jumps. A 182 that gets to altitude in 12-15 mins not too bad. Lol So, are you licensed yet or still working on it? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  4. We were considering heading down to Baldwin this weekend, but sounded like the runway was going to be too soggy. I would like to jump there and get some DZ's around my area under my belt. You should convince some TC goer's to make the trek up here. Lol Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  5. I will drink one for you and as soon as I can jump I will make one for you! Cheers Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  6. There is always a new day! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  7. I am stuck here drinking wallowing in self pity over the fact that while it is supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow the DZ's Cessna is unavailable. What a cruel cruel world. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  8. Well I have stirred the pot, as if it needed it anymore. I still have strong convictions about keeping the numbers strong in the sport. Maybe as one person said, I will eventually not care like I do now. Until that point, I guess I don't mind sounding like an overenthusiastic worrywart. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  9. So they liked their first jump enough to find a way to keep jumping. What made them like that first jump so much? Was it just the freefall and canopy ride? Was it the environment they walked into when they got to the DZ? Was it the TM that made them feel welcome and feel as though they are part of the process? Was it the feeling that they could have a future in this sport? Getting people over that hill of a first jump is largely based on how it felt on the first climb to the top of that hill. Getting people to do a first jump is easy. Look at all the tandems. The key I feel is make the entire experience leading up to and during that first jump so good that they don't need to hear anything to get them to continue jumping. If someone who has continued to jump and earned their license and they still have problems working themselves into the sport and making jumps I wonder what it feels like during that very first jump? 10. I wonder if those who voted for him G.W., which includes his administration have continued using "It could be worse" as their rational Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  11. That is the way to do it. Sometimes my apartment gets bad enough that she can't deal with it and cleans the place. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  12. I am going out on a limb and saying high quality sheets are very nice. Are they necessary? ehh Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  13. I am not telling anyone "You should do this." All I am saying is get the word out that you CAN do this. There are probably people out there that are the type who would get into skydiving, but have no idea about the opportunity. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  14. Pretty soon they will start asking us to open doors, pay for the first date, etc, etc, etc. Haha j/k Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  15. I understand the point of age not being the biggest factor , but people leave the sport one way or another. I am not trying to convince people against their will, but those first time jumpers how did they become first time jumpers? They had to hear about it from somewhere or someone? I completely agree with helping those first time jumpers make many more, but how we portray skydiving to that person making a first jump is what is crucial. Everyone has to make their first jump. How they get to that first jump and how they feel after that first jump is what I see as important. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  16. I don't talk to people about it anymore. I don't promote it. I have come to the sad realization that people are addicted to routine. Don't screw with the routine and everything will work out. If stuff goes our way in this sport great. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  17. Abuse me in bed? Edit: Is someone having a rough day at work? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  18. Ok we are getting off topic somewhat. Back to conversation concerning the physical attributes ie. her mind, that country girls will tend to possess. I wonder if any of them have named their twin peaks barley & hops? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  19. Well before I did my first jump, which was a tandem. I had no idea there was that option. I thought skydiving was something a few people did and it was out of my reach. My friend actually asked me if I wanted to go for his 18th birthday. After hearing how accessible it was I was all for it. I had no idea there was a place to do it in my area. So am I saying that we need to drag people out to the DZ? No, but by the nature of life people are going to be exiting the sport all the time. The biggest issue is age. Everyone gets old even seasoned skydivers, so if all we do is put energy into those already in the sport what happens when that supply of people is exhausted? If my friend who is a pilot hadn't come to me and asked me to make a jump I'm sure that I would've never known what is out there in the sport of skydiving. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  20. She would be wondering why you're asking for a beer and not a shot of Jack. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  21. I just watched a Carrie Underwood video. Wow! You know maybe that is why I like country music. There are a lot of hot women in country music. I am sure I am in the minority when it comes to my appreciation of country music and its new women, but beautiful bodies are universal. So anyone else see what I see? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  22. Yup I guess will get to the point where I don't care about the state of the sport I love and just care about whether or not "I" can continue to jump. Yup I guess I will get to the point where I will not reach out at all and just do my own thing. As long as I can keep jumping that is all that matters right? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  23. I have looked through various threads concerning the threat of decline facing the sport of skydiving. The most recent Skydive Radio really kind of punched it home. When I enter a sport I do so with a passion. Never has a sport that I have been passionate about been threatened to this extent. I feel helpless when I talk to people about the sport itself and they show absolutely no interest in hearing anything I have to say. Or the reaction of "Oh that is so cool I have always wanted to try that." I just want to shake them and say "THEN DO IT! It is fun and personally rewarding." I want to get new people into the sport but it feels like I am pulling teeth and I end up pulling my hair out. It is amazing all the different excuses people come up with. Ok I am done venting and I need a drink. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  24. Ok I guess I gave the impression that boogies are going to be first on the list. If I go to any boogies it will probably be over labor day. (Couch Freaks) So I will have an entire summer to fly the canopy. I am realizing that my original post really wasn't that well thought out. Oh well I am going to enjoy jumping again and learning to fly a "canopy" rather than a bus. And if all else fails talk about beer. I prefer Leinies Sunset Wheat Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  25. I am not scared of my ability or inability to fly the new canopy. I am actually looking forward to really connecting and "fly" the canopy rather than just point and shoot all the way to the ground. What I am wondering about is at boogies you don't have the sky largely to yourself, which is the case at my DZ with only 3 other canopies in the sky. So I am just looking for peoples personal opinions about the situation. I liken the situation to taking test laps in a new car by yourself or driving that new car in a full on race. How do other people usually work with a new canopy? I am not looking for a clear answer I am merely looking for personal opinions and experiences. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
