Skygod straight from AFF
mnskydiver688 replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think it depends on the type of jumps he has done. Has he done 700+ RW jumps? 700+ Free-fly jumps? 400 hop & pops? Someone who is that dedicated and that can afford it, holy sh*t! I think it just depends on where the jumper decided to go with his skydiving after he got licensed. Would you feel comfortable getting RW coaching from a guy who only free-fly's? I can understand your intent of the post but possibly wording it better would not get you the backlash that seems to be happening. All of us needs to be reminded every once and a while that we don't know everything, but don't discount the fact that all of us have something to offer too. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Static Line! I learned by this old method. It is most times cheaper and you can spread the cost out a bit. Also you won't be quite has uncomfortable getting out at low altitudes to do hop and pops. I am bias so I guess do whatever everybody else is doing around there. Above all have fun! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Has skydiving lost the "hippy" vibe?

Holes in Canopy... What size is allowed
mnskydiver688 replied to mnskydiver688's topic in Gear and Rigging
Alrighty. Thanks for the tips. I will just have to wait until next weekend to have my rigger take a look at it. I hope it is not something that needs fixing. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Holes in Canopy... What size is allowed
mnskydiver688 replied to mnskydiver688's topic in Gear and Rigging
When I was packing today I noticed a hole in the my canopy. The actual hole was probably about about the diameter of regular pencil lead but there was some fraying of the fabric around the hole. What I am wondering is what size holes in the fabric are ok and at what point or size should I send it in for a patch? I did do a search and didn't really get my questions answered but, point me in the right direction if the answer lies somewhere else. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Does the Cessna 182 Still Dominate Skydiving?
mnskydiver688 replied to tombuch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Being from the Midwest I have always jumped a 182. I visited Deland and made some jumps from their Otter. I liked the change. Although, the plane was just as crowded and didn't really impress me with the climb rate. The Cessna that we jump here has an oversized engine so we get to 12k in about 12-14 minutes. I also just like the atmosphere at a Cessna DZ. I am guessing as far as jump numbers go the turbines beat out the Cessna's, but the Cessna's got the sport where it is today. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
This weekend I started off the season with a good healthy helping of jumping. Made 7 jumps over the weekend. Not only did it help restore my sanity being that jumping up here stopped in October, but I also tried my new jumpsuit and flew my new (to me) gear. All in all an awesome weekend and am looking forward to a fun and awesome summer and I am sure those others who jump in the tundra can relate. I hope everyone had a great weekend and made some jumps if they could've. I just wanted to share my good news. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

The RIAA have filed lawsuits against 6 North Dakota students for copyright infringement. http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=162529§ion=news I am just wondering what other people think about this developing situation in regards to lawsuits filed against students? Possible fines could reach $468k. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Better Way Late Than Never

Well for me this weekend is going to be the first of the season up here. I made some jumps in Florida in Jan. Normally jumping suspends in October. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Better Way Late Than Never
mnskydiver688 replied to mnskydiver688's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hey, I never got around to posting an intro thread. I got licensed last fall after a year break. Jump up at Skydive Fargo. Going to be spending most of my money this summer on jumps. Still have to get in some slalom skiing though. Hope to see some more people from the midwest visit Skydive Fargo. It seems we tend to attract Canucks. haha Anyway, now I can check the intro thread off my list. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
LMAO! I don't think there are words to describe that face while it was in freefall. While I don't know the song, but that video was worth watching... Haha Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Some containers use a two pin reserve release method and some use a one pin reserve release system. Today, I believe a vast majority of containers are the single pin type. So some of the cypres's are from containers that used two pins. You can change a cypres from two pin to one pin by buying a new cutter. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Jumping a new canopy at home DZ
mnskydiver688 replied to mnskydiver688's topic in Safety and Training
The couple times I jumped it last season I liked it. I had more issues with it turning during opening. After talking to some instructors at the DZ, they suggested sitting up with purpose and keeping my legs even and that will help quite a bit. I now have a canopy that responds to me moving the harness. I am looking forward to having a more responsive canopy and one that has some power behind it. And having landing be a process rather than wait...wait....wait.....FLARE! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Umm this might be off subject, but I just had a dream that included Jessica Simpson. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

A question for the tin foil hat skydivers
mnskydiver688 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
I had a new cutting edge fabric that has the properties of tin foil but is also very flexible installed in my helmet. I did not go for the point option which would increase the resistance factor, because it looked funny. Anywho that is just what I did. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -

Sorry I don't know if I can help much because I am in the same situation. I have to give a persuasive speech too. I have no idea for a topic either. Good Luck! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Should our criminal in chief be impeached?
mnskydiver688 replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
Impeachment will not solve anything because it isn't the president who is doing anything criminal. Either he is incredibly smart or incredibly stupid. His administration are the ones who are committing criminal acts. While the president sits there and looks like an idiot his administration is doing all the dirty work. Look at how many criminal situations have surrounded the president but never directly involved him. His most recent attempt to call on executive privilege while shady still doesn't connect him to anything criminal. All I see is a president who lets his administration run free. Personally I am disgusted with the entire government. Everyone is tripping over their own desire to do what will make themselves look better instead of doing what needs to be done. Oh well I voted, what else is there. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
I remember the first time I encountered industrial haze. It was on a tracking dive. Right around pull altitude I busted through a thin layer of this haze. Really gave you a perspective on how fast you are going. Cool Cool Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
