  1. Yeah it also helps to have your own personal camera man. If you are the only one in the videos of course the colors will pop off the screen. To INDEPENDENT camera guys everywhere! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  2. Haha, then don't. The thing about instruction is no matter what discipline you are in you will get experienced, instructors, self made instructors all bitching about the best way to do things. I am not going to put in my two cents because I just got a shiny new suit and I haven't made nearly enough jumps with it so far, so I am still in the honeymoon phase. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  3. Eh... Looked ok. Should've had a stuffed Pony along. Then it would've been epic. Nah.... the flying looked great. Gives Butters and I an idea of what to beat! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  4. Put my first flights on my new toy over the weekend... Very fun! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  5. And with a pony.... Oh Chuck is all about smart unless you are in his Porche. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  6. Yeah. Just because you are exiting a smaller aircraft, standard exit order is still in play. Plus, me also being a tandem instructor I would much prefer to be by the door so I don't have to shuffle around to the door. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  7. I have done a number of exits from a C182. I usually get out in the poised position. I keep my hands very close together while on the strut. I keep everything closed until I can see the plane. For reference I jump a Ghost 2. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  8. Uploaded the footage of Butters completing a backloop. Also, a quick little blip of some rare jumpable cloud over the upper midwest. http://vimeo.com/28696443 Thanks to Spot for providing the video hosting venue. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  9. Keep in mind when Butters refers to a dive, he doesn't mean much at all. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  10. V4 just isn't exciting enough for you? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  11. So that is what I have been doing wrong all this time! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  12. I was in my Ghost 2, soon to be Ghost 3. So I think this weekend I may try it again. I will keep ya posted. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  13. Yeah, that was my thought. Perhaps I just need to be more aggressive with it. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  14. Is it the idea that because the light is entering from such an extreme angle getting bent that it is nearly impossible to avoid a "prism" effect that breaks up white light? The front element would almost have to be a complete half sphere to avoid something like that. Correct? Just strap the Nikon 13mm lens on the front and go to town. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  15. Ha, I remember telling Tony (Butters) that I was going to do a back loop in a WS. Lets just say I got very good at transitioning into a sit with my suit. If someone has any tips on pulling off a back loop in a wingsuit I am all ears. Butters, hopefully those solos diminish soon! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  16. Both still (Nikon D90) & video (CX100) mounted on top (Vapor Wes Pro) using RRS quick release mounts. Very clean and very well balanced. The only gripe has nothing to do with camera positioning but the chin cup positioning. It makes the tongue switch somewhat of a pain to get setup and use. Other than that pretty nice. 17. I have been jumping a Sabre1 for the majority of my skydiving career. I love it for wingsuiting due to its flight characteristics when in line twists and general flying. My one complaint is in turbulence it can be a bit unruly. Also, for the money they are a great WS canopy. I made some small slider mods, because I jump with fairly large camera setup. All in all a good setup. I will be jumping my 150 Sabre 1 until it is ragged out. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  18. Since in larger groups I like to work on my camera skills I never expect to be in the best body position possible, but I like to have these conversations because we are still figuring out just where we want this discipline go and such. I don't think there will ever be a one wingsuit quiver. As long as a community we continue bring the average performance level higher and higher that is good with me. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  19. All this talk about vertical velocity (not speed since we have a direction ) in flocks I wanted to show a graph of a recent jump where I was flying at peak performance. A little info about the circumstances: Altimeter: Neptune 2 on mudflap Wingsuit: PF Ghost 2 Exit weight: ~215lbs This would make me think upper 40's to mid 50's would be reasonable for flocking. Thoughts? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  20. Yes, the weather has been marginal... Since Butters is the guy I "fly" with and he has been busy doing non jumping stuff, I am looking for outlets. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  21. Yours has ripples? I think you are using yours as more of an entrance than an exit Jarno. You should think about that. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  22. Fine... I will bite. All future records using the grid spacing must be completed with everyone back-flying! Sorry, I haven't jumped in a while.... Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  23. Hmmm... 1st and 2nd post, after registering. Product rep I see.... Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  24. Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 on a Nikon D90 Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
  25. Go and take a look at www.kenrockwell.com He has tons of great information about almost every camera manufacturer and very helpful reviews. I jump a Nikon D90 and happened a Promaster external shutter switch that uses an extension that uses a standard micro-plug. Also, some of the lower end Nikons don't offer external wired shutter switches. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
