  3. Matilde Guerrero Sept 4th, 1916 At the age of 14 yrs and 3 months And something like "her parents remember this" Sad how some die so young!
  4. Well "Y fallecio" means "and died" but I don't know what El Ide means, but Myo-I'm assuming is "Mayo"-May
  5. I have another one to propose.. If you look at countries that have had a lot of success in the recent 10 years or so, I'm sure you will find that the scales would indicate increase in body weight is correlated with increase in wealth. OK.. There's no way it's the only explanation.. But if you think about it, the more money you have, the more you can afford things that make you comfortable.. I see the other end of the spectrum though too. Why does it seem that there are so many people on the poor end too that are super obese?? Why? Because fast food is cheap and it's what they can afford. Pay less-eat more. I could say more-but I don't want to risk moving this to SC.
  6. El = The De = of EL 15 DE 9 DE 1856 = The 15th of the 9th of 1856 -> September 15, 1856 Aha! Thank you for that deciphering! The two numbers are the day and month - makes perfect sense. I've managed to figure out the other inscriptions. "D.E.P." seems to be very common on Mexican tombstones, which is short for ""Dedican Este Recuerdo", which means "dedicated in memory of". On this one (image Cemetery 6s.JPG attached) it's redundant, because it's both written out, and abbreviated. And the dedication is "Su esposa e hijos" - "From his wife and children". Nice touch. I'm pretty sure that DEP stands for Descanse En Paz, which translates to Rest In Peace. 1st stone: Sabás Cuerrero September 15, 1856 ? - October 31, 19?5 His wife and children ded- icate this memorial RIP 2nd Stone: I can't read the top word very well. It appears to be Nina, which could mean girl or be a name. Likewise, I can't do anything with the second line, which appears to (maybe) have letters truncated from either end. It looks to be at least the family name. The next line appears to begin with Que, which means that, giving us: Nina (Girl?) Name She was born (or, perhaps, who was born) February 28, 1920 She passed away May 1, 1920 (Note that I translated Myo as Mayo = May) She was about two months old when she died. Please excuse any translation errors. Hablo español un poco solamente. I think you did pretty good. I can't make out the 2nd line either as it looks like the first letter or so of the word is missing. But it does look like it says "que nacio el dia" de nacio-of this nation que nacio el dia-"Born on this day"
  7. Really hispanic people don't even really celebrate it. It's much more an American holiday and an excuse to get drunk! Which is exactly my plan tonight! I'm going to my fav. Mexican restaurant in town to have some good food and even better margaritas! Salut!

  12. Thought I'd post this workout on here for anyone who's interested. A few weeks ago Jillian talked about the Deck of Cards workout. I've done it a few times and it's kicked my ass. Here it is: Shuffle a deck of card, each suit has a different exercise and you do the number of repetitions that the card says Face cards-10 reps Ace-1 min break Diamonds-pushups Hearts-Lunges Spades-crunches Clubs-reverse crunches Have fun!
  13. [reply It's my personal view that implicitly women are encouraged to have a low opinion of their physique. (Please note, this is *my* personal opinion.) But take a look at all the magazines and celebs out there. They all make it seem like being skinny and a size 0 or 2 is what's attractive. So I think the media plays a big role on the self esteem of women. And in my opinion, people who are skinny have it easier and are able to have a higher self-esteem. And I do agree, that boobs also play a factor in this. But then there are lots of skinny people out there who look in the mirror and think "I'm fat." So skinny or fat, many people just don't like their body. Personally, I am far from a size 2. There are parts of my body that I love and parts that I absolutely hate. I love my boobies-yes they are on the larger side, I love my arms and my calves, while I hate my stomach and thighs. So yes, I agree that I don't think it's normal to like their bodies.
