  11. great point, right when we got down i said we should have put you in the banana yellow tandem jump suit. side 90 flash with a slave would be great and alot better on the subjects night vision too... dammit i need more toys, where are the sponsors.. more $$$$ please.. i did use manual focus. also i did not do any post editing other than a crop and i shot jpeg where i should have shot raw.... dont let life pass you by
  12. Here are a few night jump shots i took. http://pablo.smugmug.com/gallery/6023742_DuJ7m#376942691_cFoou The settings were full manual, 200, F5.6, iso 100 on rebel xt with a 15mm sigma... the flash a 580 II with m 1/1.. and yes the subject freely chose to take the flash blast and several warnings he may not see at all afterwards... thanks tony h. as i continue to use info from your class dont let life pass you by
  13. bmfin has hit most of the points and i will add a big weight difference also. i started with the optic and just switched to the ftp.. the ftp is noticeably heavier so take that into account when choosing. i notice i feel the flat surface on the top on head down jumps with the ftp but you get used to it.. i switched to the ftp for real estate as i bought a flash and use it occasionally. enjoy and welcome to the club dont let life pass you by
  14. that is a sexy canopy, i wish i had one like that !!!!!! dont let life pass you by

  16. hey peej, i have not used the flip up and have the 580 ex II. but i got stuck on a tandem load that was very very late as well on a turn and did not have time to set it up.. i went to iso 1600 (which made me cringe at the time), 240 shutter (again cringe) and TV. i would recommend manual focus too if you can if u normally use auto. the pics came out very well for having almost no light and i was very surprised.. so for anyone else who gets in this last desperate stage, there is a suggestion. thanks ed for your help on that one in the bird. peej, sorry for the hijack, but might help someone else in the future. also talk to TM about whether you want to face or away from sun based on the effect u want. dont let life pass you by

  20. My boss recently took his family on a trip to Fiji, with Tui Tai Adventure Cruises. He raves about it. He’s been on safaris in Africa, tours in the Galapagos, India, the Amazon, many exotic places, and he says Tui Tai is the absolute best he’s experienced. Their web site does look like it’s an amazing experience: www.tuitai.com. The web site shows they do a lot of good humanitarian things (humanitarian expeditions, donating wheelchairs, supplies, water tanks, emergency assistance to remote island villages). Cool example of how you can go on a great luxury-adventure vacation and at the same time really make a difference to a developing country like Fiji. dont let life pass you by
  21. chris, i found this while doing comparision sizing on your camera http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665086471&storeId=10151 camera is $ 152 and $ 212 with a 3 year full coverage warranty and free shipping.. sony is a tried and true brand and holds up to skydiving abuse. the only down side to this particular model is the lack of lanc port.. use the money you saved to buy a lens, tapes, and beers for your first camera jumps.. woohoo dont let life pass you by
  22. best thing to do is pull first,, wait till he pulls, then chop and go right by him while yelling i win !!! and hope he does not do the same, if you think he will, then get a belly wart and do it a second time, going to need some special rigging here.. oh yeah you can read that in the scary stories from the old days thread... it is money,, if you really get to enjoy pulling low,, take up base jumping woohooo dont let life pass you by
  23. da gimp is right on the money,, go full manual.. i used 200 (flash sinc for rebel xt) F8, iso 100, and 580 exII set at manual 1/1.. i was about 15 feet away above and to the side. pics turned out fine. flash makes a good blinky under canopy too !!!! p dont let life pass you by
  24. i just switched from a bh optic to a bh flat top.. the ft is much cleaner with both cameras on the top.. the ft takes some time to break in and get comfy even with baking. the only other downside for me is it feels very strange flying headdown.. i can feel the flat surface and will take some time to get used to. i have not tried a vapor.. in term of sizing use the head measuring charts for BH and they have worked fine for the last two bh i have purchased... i also bought used and i worked out nicely,,,, also if you can wait six months,, bonehead does bone bonds where you double your money in the 6 month period. any other questions just ask.. dont let life pass you by
