  1. HC5 will do you fine unless the DZ has gone to memory based cameras. If so the cx-100 is the weapon of choice. rebel xt is fine as well. welcome back dont let life pass you by

  6. damn that is a sweet helmet u got on there WB !!!!!!!!! dont let life pass you by
  7. the pc-1000 is a nice camera, i would use it until it dies unless u really have the need to go tapeless. it is high quality and fairly small.. The new kids are using the cx-100, tapeless, small and light. digital rebel with the stock lens will do just fine. enjoy and welcome back dont let life pass you by
  8. im not sure where the tunnel is in montreal, but i have lots of relatives in montreal. if you get the address to the tunnel, and your dates, i may be able to arrange a place for your to stay. pm please so i can make sure i dont miss the post. dont let life pass you by
  9. spectres are great first canopies. they open soft and on heading even with not much attention in packing. they fly conservative at lower student wingloadings.they have a good flare even on older used models. they have saved my butt on mistakes even at higher loading where a more aggresive canopy would have put me in a cast. pilots and spectres are great begginer and camera specific canopies. talk to your instructors and enjoy. dont let life pass you by
  10. eloz, az or perris, ca are probably your two best choices for number of loads, instructors and best weather. neither place is las vegas but u should be able to find some fun... good luck dont let life pass you by
  11. i would not recommend the tokina.. if you gonna go that route, spend a little more and get the canon 10-22. it is significantly better. i would even say get the canon 15 over the sigma 15, it will be worth it. imho. dont let life pass you by
  12. HA- busted. i used to work there. i moved to san diego recently and i am jumping at elsi and perris occasionally, but not working in skydiving right now. hope u get to the tunnel and to the sky soon. welcome to the addiction dont let life pass you by
  13. ifly and 15 minutes. i think the entry level coaching your going to get is going to be close to equal at both. your also going to be driving to perris alot when u start aff, trust me, use the close option for now
  14. i converted to the FTP from the optic as i was using occasional flash and wanted what was suggested as the better platform. i kind of regret selling my optic. The downsides are the FTP is noticeably heavier which if your jumping full time matters with long term repetition although the naysayers will say the cameras are more centered if u put everything up top. I would agree but it is heavier. The optic was very comfortable and doesnt have the crushing head problem at altitude due to the thick foam of the FTP. I do wait to close the bone till green, but still the optic doesnt have this problem. Also, unless u get the wider carbon fiber plate, you still have stuff sticking over the edge and difficulty fitting both cameras on the top, depending on models/lens. i would re-visit changing from the optic, i kinda wish i kept mine. dont let life pass you by
  15. 1. How does one become interested in the sport of Wing Suiting? How did you start? i started at a boogie trying a beginner ws. i really had no interest in it until i started base jumping. then and now i currently skydive WS to stay current for base WS . 2. Has your view of the sport changed since you have become involved seriously in it? there really hasnt been any major changes. there really has been a big push in proximity flying in base. 3. Is there still fear before you jump or are you confident in your abilities? there is always healthy fear for me. less in skydiving than base but still is present. even being confident in my skills, you are in a restricted movement suit, flying at high speeds, with danger lurking at all times. i like the feeling of fear, it keeps me alert to the gravity of what i am doing. 4. Do you have friends or family who oppose to this risk taking? no, not really. i think my friends and family understand the risks as i try to explain to to them. but they accept me doing it. 5. When in the sport did you realize you were hooked to this rush? After the first time? i was hooked on my first cliff base jump, and first cliff base wingsuit jump. permemnantly. 6. What’s next? Is there anything crazier you want to try? no, i think i am at an acceptable level of crazy for now 7. Have you ever had any close calls with disaster and if so how did it effect you? i landed in a tree after a base jump. it took me a day to get the parachute out of the tree, but i jumped the next day. it makes you reflect on what you are doing and gave me a good healthy reality check 8. How much does it cost approximately per jump? Is this a financially tough sport? it is financially tough in terms in travel for me in base. i make several trips to europe per year to jump. the cost of high end suits and travel make it somewhat expensive, but not prohibitive. 9. How long do you hope to continue jumping? Are there any age restrictions? i would like to continue jumping as long as i am healthy and able to do so. 10. How many times a year do you usually get to jump? i did 70 ws base jumps this year, and about 50 ws skydives this year. 11. If you could describe wing suiting in one word what would you chose? crack dont let life pass you by

  18. you will not see much from the 42 to the 62 but the 96 has the 3cmos sensor and u will see a difference,,, though for the size and price i would go to the cx-100 now or the hc-5 if u want to go tape... the 96 is outdated and still holds some value but for a little more money u can get the cx-100 dont let life pass you by
  19. cx100 if you are not doing tandems or dont have the skills/computer to edit with it for tandems. other downside is no firewire to your pals hc-5 if u need an all around camera with good hd quality but it wont break your bank. better freefly than hc 7/9 cx 7/12 hc 20/30/40/50 if u want to cheap reliable in standard SD dont let life pass you by

  22. In 2-3 years you will definately be using a different camera than what u buy now. i would say the sony hc-5 or the cx-7/12 are the cheapest hd cams right now that would do both and handle skydiving rigor and are baby friendly if u really think i am wrong.. the cx-100 is a great new skydiving cam, but it is not great in low light situations and is the only drawback for this cam . the hc-5 u can get for less than 500, the cx-100 for $600. not sure how much cx 7/12 is now. get any of the low end sony mini dv cams for $200 if that is your budget. sony is the only brand if u really want to jump with it.. get a cheap off brand if your not going to jump with it. your going to need an editing program, sony vegas platinum is the best , cheapest, program that deals with HD.. good luck dont let life pass you by
