So this was my first weekend as a REAL packer. I say real because last year I only packed for experienced jumpers so it was pretty much all canopies around the 100sqft mark. Not really all that difficult. Towards the end of the summer they started letting me pack a student rig here or there. Well, Friday I learned how to pack tandems. In 2 days I packed 8 tandems. Now I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but when you've never packed one before it is. Plus it didn't help that the one rig had a brand new straight out of the bag canopy on it. That was one slippery little fucker. I was actually grateful when I got up this morning and saw the weather was shit. Every single muscle in my body hurts...including my hands. I know that down the road I'll build up the required muscles and it won't be so bad. OK...whining over.

Of course...on a night when I have to work the 11pm to 7am shift they decide to do a sunrise load. The plane should be taking off right about now (it's 6:07am right now). In the 2 years I've been jumping they've never done a sunrise load, so who knows when they'll do another one. Oh well...life goes on I guess. On the brite side I learned how to pack tandems yesterday. And, despite not having flat packed in about 1 1/2 years it still opened.

Shouldn't we Know more about our Gear?

Did they have their A license at this time? If so they should at least know how to pack. I know that to get your A license it is required that you pack and jump your own pack job. -
I wanna try.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't have any personal experience, but my best friend's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over a year ago. She's still fighting hard after a masectomy, chemo and radiation. My thoughts are with you and your mom.

Last year at our dz there was a girl doing a tandem. She made the mistake of wearing white pants. Well, she litterally shit her pants during the jump and she had a giant brown stain on her white pants. She had to sit around the dz in her pants for 3 hours waiting for the rest of her friends to make tandems.

That's perfect for me then.

Just what kind of experience is required to be allowed to jump an inflatable??

Well a little over a year ago I was down at the Farm. This was before I had my own gear. I was having fall rate issues (I think I'm a shoe in for anvil brothers ). A guy there gave me one of his old very large jumpsuits. I love it...except that the legs are too long so the booties have a tendency to come off in freefall. Flying with one bootie on and one bootie off is interesting.

So I gained a bit more weight this winter then I thought I did. (About 30 pounds which I had just lost the previous winter.) Neither my jumpsuit or freefly pants fit. Considering it took me about a year to lose all this weight last time I figure it'll take me a year to lose it again. My question is, what should I do for a jumpsuit/freefly pants in the meantime? None of the the student jumpsuits at my DZ fit me (I have thunder thighs thanks to 10 years of figure skating.) I've scowered the classifieds with no luck finding something that might fit me. Should I just buy new ones for my "fat days"? I just don't want to go the entire season without something to wear and it seems like a waste of money to go out and buy brand new ones for a year or so.

I'm guessing all the mods are asleep and that's the only reason it's lasted this long.

Only gay men are fully capable of speaking "female" as you call it. Straight men are morons.

That's a pretty unique rig (unique meaning awesome in this case). I think anyone who has looked at those pics will have no problem recognizing it if they see it.

I wonder if the anvil brothers would let me join even though I'm a brick???

When I first started jumping and didn't have the first clue about packing or anything I would sit in the packing area and watch people. Whenever I saw something that I wasn't sure what it was or why they were doing what they were doing I would ask a question. I never once ran into someone who wasn't willing to educate me. When I got my own gear last summer I helped put it together step-by-step (with the exception of packing the reserve). I put the main on the slinks, I helped with the initial inspection of my main, and I put it all together (with a rigger helping me of course). I think the fact that I spent much of last summer packing helped me alot. I got to see different rigs and canopies. I know that I still have alot to learn but I think alot of it has to do with people not caring how the stuff works so long as it works. I think my own personal interest and eagerness to learn everything I can about this sport helped me greatly. -
Living alone and thus being able to walk around/sleep neked whenever I want.

I have but I still want to adopt them all.

no I'm not a cold hearted bitch. But when they show the pictures of those poor abused/abandoned animals it makes me cry becuase I want to adopt them all. I feel so helpless.

I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner, cause that is what I really wanna be. Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer weiner, everyone would be in love with me.

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time...thank you.

It might survive but it won't be as much fun.
-
Awe thank you.
