no john, I do not guess that would go over well in the FAA control room.. had one of the tenders come tell me once that a diver punched him in the face kids mug was all swollen and mangled looking...I asked what happened, he said the guy went to sleep during his chamber ride so he beat on the side of the chamber with a hammer to wake him up... I was like yeah don't do that, they don't like you telling on them either I'll pretend we never had this conversation ok ....poor kid walked away and didn't say shit for the rest of the hitch... wtf did he expect for me to kiss his face and make it better...stupid hurts edit to add we had fresh sheets in the can and stacks of towels fresh bibs...kid turned out to be a helluva tender..so not for nothing you know if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell

The consequences of jumping in turbulence (pics)
porpoishead replied to mik's topic in Safety and Training
the guy in the pic does appear to be in an awkward position just prior to impact that's what caused me to question pilot input prior or during his encounter with the turbulence.... I understand there's only 2 things you can do when you're that low and you have a collapse, jack and shit....as someone else pointed out though the canopy appears to be in a left turn configuration and it's diving/out flying the pilot.....was trying to figure out if the guy got all panicky and cranked some toggles...that's why i asked if the OP actually saw it go down or was some pics from his dz as he stated and heard about the incident...I understand ideally you want full flight to ensure optimum pressure of your canopy through the turbulence but at some point you have to flare before you meet the ground which requires some sort of input, ultimately effecting the way your canopy recovers or.....doesn't if you have already impacted mom earth also understand how fast it can all go down as well, I learned the through the school of hard knocks how bad low turbulence can make your landing..matter of fact when it happened to me, you had just landed doing video and actually filmed me pounding in or just after... i was stupefied and my ears were ringing from the impact...first thing i remember hearing was you asking me how much i wanted for my gear and squeak.. whatever bro...you will not get a rise from the fish head if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell -

The consequences of jumping in turbulence (pics)
porpoishead replied to mik's topic in Safety and Training
thats why i was asking if he indeed witnessed or what.. i had a collapse when i first started out from a rookie mistake high winds, I brought it in too close downwind of the hanger, and pounded in in a similar fashion except i impacted on my back with the canopy behind me which made sense, not facing the ground with the canopy ahead... just weird scenario i guess doesn't make much sense. if the canopy collapses and loses its airspeed then there's a lot of surface are creating drag now slowing it down as the momentum takes your body forward passing up the fabric just flailing in the breeze...some slack in the lines something... i dunno maybe collapse is not the proper term is what I'm getting at...might be a turbulence related crash but it does not appear to be a collapsed canopy from the pics. if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell -

The consequences of jumping in turbulence (pics)
porpoishead replied to mik's topic in Safety and Training
yeah i read your post the first time.... from the pics though it looks like a steep dive i just dont understand how a collapsed canopy is gonna out fly you to the ground with you above it at full line stretch...........maybe I'm just stupid some more bold print might help me edit to add: looks pretty well pressurized in the pics too in the effort to not sound like too much of a smart ass. I am just trying to tell you that the pictures paint a different picture than what you are describing as a straight in approach with a canopy collapse....the pictures show a pressurized canopy out-flying a jumper to the ground and impacting slightly before the jumper. where you a direct eyewitness?? were you the one taking the pictures?? if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell -

did he apply input with the toggles when he encountered the turbulence??? wouldn't a canopy collapse or a stall on landing lay you down on your back....from the pics it looks like the canopy is in a dive the whole time... it hit the ground before he did loss of lift with what forward speed you already have.. would put you ahead of the canopy am I missing something ??? edit to add: maybe a case of turning too hard into a strong wind than a collapse if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell -

very nice piece chris! and some people are heartless when it comes to animals no doubt... sounds like an awesome idea for your piece SR...i"ve been thinking about getting my beast done too ...he's never ripped me open too bad but he loves clamping down on my arms to show me how much of a bad ass he is. we play rough but he's one of the most loyal obedient animals I ever had, gonna be a sad day when that big knuckle head buys the farm...he will be 13yo this nov. getting skinny hes like 75-80# now a days but in his prime he was a solid 90...fucking monster....yet extremely docile if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell

what the hell, just use a coupon and buy some saran wrap... or a home depot gift card and buy some spray on tool grip comes in a few different colors and you can spray it on as thick or thin as you want.....coat the sack with it even you could get your brown chicken cows on for hours with a roll of 75ft saran wrap...$2 well spent if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell

no doubt cajun boiled or cajun fried....good stuff if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell

i see what you did there! but isnt that being frugal? Fugalness has its limitations with certain items. Such as beer, wine, and condoms. so i guess if you grab a handful of them for free from the local clinic, that's a serious red flag??? wtf they're free you wouldn't want them to expire then its a total waste if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell
-
there is also fried peanuts kris..they sell them around here or you can just deep fry some in the shells yourself. even more awesome than eating them with the shell roasted. fried they have the consistency of like a peanut butter sugar wafer...well without the sugar of course boiled though, I prefer to shell them... if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell
