  1. The color thing. That's kinda cool. My Dell laptop needs major servicing every month or so, I can tell when windoze starts bluescreening. I'm gonna have to find that setting. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  2. I'm seeing WAY too many proprietary messaging programs. Go to www.trillian.cc, download trillian. Trillian will talk to users on AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN. It also serves as a half decent IRC client. Then you can be a geek like me and post 3 different IM addresses. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  3. I've currenlty got 104 days of uptime on my windows 2000 production systems. I imagine the next time I reboot it will be something serious like a hardware failure. http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=www.buildviewprod.com The two hundred bucks for a licence doesn't bother me that much when we're running on $20,000 worth of hardware. What does bother me is that $200,000 they want for biztalk licencing. Anybody know of open sourced integration platforms? _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  4. Here it my laptop. You get to see all my IM contacts. Anyone wanna guess how many of those text-files on my desktop are confidential? And yes, I'm stuck on winbloze. It's a pretty safe bet that I was screwing with slackware when you kids were still in diapers, though. ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  6. I saw john's presentation last year. Freefall drift is one area where the more I know, the more I get confused. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  7. I carried my rig through on my bag frequently before september. I never had a problem since Southwest changed their official policy two years ago. The only reason I haven't done it since september is lack of opportunity. Next time I fly with my rig I will carry it on my back. I refuse to check it because of the liability limitations, and if it's in a gear bag it's too big to fit the carry-on size requirements. Even since September, I have never heard of security opening reserve or mains. Flying with gear just isn't the problem it used to be. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  8. The biggest problem is that it quite simply isn't that simple. I think there will always be debate. Even now I don't think I understand it enough to be able to properly pass it on. Fact is, every time this topic comes up my brain starts hurting. Freefall drift is simply more complex then many people give it credit for. And yes, the computer animations are golden. But even they don't show the whole story because they only show ONE story. In a bizaare way I'm a tad bit jealous of the people who're blissfully ignorant of freefall drift. It just hurts my brain too much. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  9. The Oxygen is more expensive but the quality is just so much better. I say skip over the Z1 and drop the extra dough for the Oxygen. You can read my review of the Z1 under the "Gear" tab. I regretted buying my Z1 from about 20 jumps. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  10. The lift itself isn't that bad.. like $35 or something. The pictures are another 20, and another 30 if you want an acrobatic ride... The price is certainly an expensive lift, but not rediculous. The bombers were very expensive. $350 or something. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  11. Haven't seen this month's parachutist yet, but if the picture is anything like the one I'm attaching (me!), then it's a Pitts Special bi-plane. They've attached a small two handed handle to the wing. http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/wffc/BiPlane2.jpg Pilot does a barrel roll, jumper holds onto the handle and gets out as the plane inverts. Great fun! _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  12. I don't know if I've ever had Chris fly, but every time I've landed off at SDC it was because Roger was flying. Bad Roger. No donut. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  17. If the setup is anything like last year - I wouldn't want to be on Dropzone Row. It's just too far from manifest, and well - everything. I don't know what the price difference is, but a tent in with the retail tents would be pretty cool. Even if it's on the edge of the retailers, the Brazillian federation did this last year. It's a huge file, but you can see a map here http://www.freefall.com/images/map.jpg ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  19. I think it's interesting how often the "fail safe" comments come up, both here and on the DZ. As if anything in this sport could ever be truely "fail safe". Even if the harness was one piece, and this made the harness fail safe, this is just one small compenent of the system. Fact is, I've never heard of someone dieing of webbing failure in the short two years I've been around... While I'm sure this was a risk at some point, I just don't see it now. I'm surprised skydiver don't fight this idea with the same rigor that pilots fight the downwind turn theories. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  20. Shit. I think I walked up and commented about the fabric on your odyssey. I said I wouldn't want to fuck up landings. WOW. Am reconsidering. Might show up on Saturday. (I got ya beat. 23. The thing is that training is no indication of how we'll react when the preasure is on. Just look at how many tandems go fetal when they've been trained to arch. It wasn't until I actually had a cuttaway that I had the confdence that I'd perform under preasure like I had been trained. Now since I've done it, I can put confidence in the training. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
