  1. Well, I've only been to a couple of tunnels so I'm not the best person to give an unbiased opinion or to compare tunnels across the board. However, a lot of the instructors at SVCO are skydivers and are well-equipped to help you get the "realistic" experience that you're looking for. The amount of air you get will depend on how you're doing in the tunnel and the level of control that you have. Those walls are hard! Too much wind and not enough control can add up to trouble. However, talking with your instructors in advance and letting them know of your goals will help move you in the right direction, both in terms of skills and, when you're ready for it, in the wind speed that they give you. The SVCO instructors are also more than able to coach you in free flying or belly flying, as the case may be. TPM Sister #102
  2. What a load of shit. Hey, Andy, please don't knock it like that. I had an alcoholic cousin who struggled with it for years. The alcohol changed her, and even when she was sober, she wasn't herself anymore. The alcohol was more a part of her than she was some days. Alcoholism is more than just refusing to turn down a drink. It's much more pervasive than that. My cousin's family took her off of life support on July 4th. She couldn't control the alcohol and it ended up taking her life. TPM Sister #102
  3. I can't help it; I LOVE Radio Lab. On one of the podcasts I was listening to recently, they were talking about space capsules and what people would put in them if it was up to them, the premise being that the capsule would be shot into space to be discovered by aliens (who would then presumably understand the language, etc., and then learn about human beings). Aliens aside, what woud YOU put into a space capsule to represent humanity? Would you include a piece of music? A book? A piece of art? A photo? Something to represent the sciences? What specific items would you choose, and why? What one item would you include to represent you, personally? I'm just curious. TPM Sister #102

  6. Me-oooowwwww! Poor thing. I hope it goes well for her! If she turns the surgery down, I'll be glad to let you pay so I can have lipo instead. . . . TPM Sister #102
  7. It depends on what you're looking for in a tunnel, I think. Asking which the "best" tunnel is will get you a lot of loyalty-driven answers (because *I* would have to say SVCO ), but maybe you should start by telling us more about what features are most important to you. Do you have preferences based on location for travel purposes, or do you care more about the overall cost to fly? Do you want a specific kind of coaching? Do you want a tunnel on a dropzone? Etc., etc., etc. The "best" tunnel for your purposes will be dictated by what kind of experience you want. TPM Sister #102
  8. Glad the cat's okay and your girlfriend now smells like herself again. . . . I'm sorry about the expensive vet visit but I'm happy to hear it all had a happy ending! TPM Sister #102

  10. I understand. I think it matters as to what the person is unwilling to do, and why. TPM Sister #102
  11. I'm asking around a bit, too. TPM Sister #102
  12. What you're talking about sounds different than people who have an uncooperative attitude, more along the lines of an "I can't be bothered" kind of a thing. You sound cooperative--just over-extended! TPM Sister #102
  13. And yet, your score makes me feel completely inadequate. TPM Sister #102
  14. Since they bothered to register the bike, it must have been important to the family who purchased it. I think sometimes, as in this case, it may very well actually BE the person's job to do but it's so low on the list of their priorities that it all but falls off the list completely. Here in Denver, though, we recently had a whopper of a "not my job" scenario. Someone found a bunch of files and information on people from a local hospital that had been left in a storage shed. When they took the documents to the police, the police department wanted nothing to do with it and suggested that the person who found the files should throw it away themselves. Fortunately, the person who found all of this information didn't let the matter drop. TPM Sister #102
  15. 8.87574% - Poser . . . but I have the sneaking suspicion that I should've answered the "geek parties" questions differently. Besides that, the guy I'm marrying is probably off the charts, which I think should be an automatic assessment of another 2-3% geekiness. At the very least, I should be into Geek Tendencies. 16. At my office, I wouldn't have a trash bag to line the trash can with in the first place--the janitor has them. But aside from that, I appreciate the frustration. I'm an attorney, but I clear jams from the copier or pick up the phone when it's needed. If we all did only "our jobs," it would be a lot more unpleasant around here. I think it's one of the things that contributes to such a positive work environment. People step up and help each other out when it's needed and they can do something about it. TPM Sister #102

  18. Awww, but Spence, we like you. . . . I wouldn't ban you. You're cute. Whew! Okay, just ban the evil ones, then. Wait--um, make that the evil, non-cute ones. Well . . . . Let's just say it's all good if I get an exemption. TPM Sister #102
  19. Congrats! That's terrific! TPM Sister #102
