  1. I'm finally working up to my first tandem on Saturday, and I'm looking for suggestions as to user-friendly tandem exits for someone with door fear. I'm thinking that this one innocent little morning out at the dz is likely to lead to AFF, so I don't necessarily want to coddle my fears too much. I'd just like to know what others recommend, and if there's a good exit that might be easier on my brain. Thanks for the input! TPM Sister #102
  2. I went up to observe a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Seems like a great group up there. TPM Sister #102
  3. I'm doing my first tandem up at Mile-Hi on Saturday and can't wait. Glad to hear there's another newbie in the area! TPM Sister #102
  4. I think that's the approach I'll take--thanks! It's helpful to know this, and hopefully I'll connect with a TI who knows what they're doing. I have my short list of things to discuss before we get on the plane and this will definitely be one of them! As I said, I just appreciate knowing that there are options and ways to minimize the leg-snap. Sorry, guys, I didn't mean to de-rail the conversation but I definitely appreciate the input! 5. See? There are a bunch of us who would jump with you here this weekend! Just look for the guy in the camos. TPM Sister #102
  6. I know! Deep Breath. No grip-of-death on the TI. Just jump! You gonna be up there this weekend? Where's Chris? You need to jump from Mile Hi. Never mind that you probably live in Greenland or something. . . . TPM Sister #102
  7. YOU are never a bailer--no worries! I didn't mean that at all. You're a very large part of the reason that I'm able to put my head on straight and get myself up to the dz this weekend!! As I recall, I'M the one who bailed on YOU and tunnel time this weekend. . . . (Again, what's that thing about money? Why, oh WHY, can't it be free after you've spent your first $3,000 at the tunnel??? Okay, I'd still have a way to go, but at least I could get all the expenses out of the way and just have fun!!) TPM Sister #102
  8. Okay, okay, okay, already! You've convinced me. I'm back in line to do MY tandem this weekend, whether MY friends come along or not. (Chris, this is exactly what happened to me. People started bailing out on me and then I panicked and didn't go.) Saturday is tandem day. Chris, make your reservation and we'll compare tandem notes next weekend. Julie TPM Sister #102
  9. QuoteQuote [Not really...I finally used an officially accurate scale, and it said that I weigh 93.6 lbs. Thank goodness for my comfy (compared to others) weight belt. It's custom-made by Bryan Harrell from Terminal Imagery. (I probably sound like PR or like a commercial, but PM his wife dippymoo for more info, if you are interested in one of his weight belts.) 93.6?! Wow--you are tiny! No wonder you love your weight belt! Thanks for the recommendation. It always helps to know what other people like. TPM Sister #102
  10. SWEET tour--just not nearly long enough! I'm glad that Colorful Colorado is on your route. I'm biased and have never been to other tunnels to compare, but I love ours and hope you enjoy it, too. Julie TPM Sister #102
  11. QuoteQuote You’re a girl who does her homework! Must be the lawyer in ya. I can't help it. I'm thinking AFF (too much wind tunnel time will do this to you) and so I'm obsessing about wanting to know it all--RIGHT NOW! (Which again proves that lawyers are nothing but trouble.) Thanks for an alternative suggestion. I (eh-hem) like control! TPM Sister #102
  12. I'm so far from an instructor that it's not even funny, so I know I should stay outta here--BUT, given that I'm doing my first tandem on the 19th, I really appreciate you saying something about there being a way to keep legs from flying around like mad. That creeps me out in watching other tandem dives and now I know there's something I can request so it doesn't happen to ME. TPM Sister #102
  13. Yes, well, see our subject line--ADDICTED!!! It trickles downwind from the dz all the way to the tunnel. I'm just excited that all you skydivers want us to join the club.
  14. LOL--oh, yeah! I get my priorities all messed up. TPM Sister #102
  15. Ka-CHING!! Where're my goggles??? 9 days to my tandem and counting. (Tammy jumped yesterday!!) TPM Sister #102
  16. LOL--Prozac, alcohol . . . . I'm not sensing a constructive trend here! Effective, maybe, but not necessarily constructive!! TPM Sister #102
  17. So, do you have instructions on that? (I'm just sayin', they keep telling me to quit thinking so much and stop trying so hard. . . .) TPM Sister #102
  18. I want a mulligan on some of the clothes I've purchased over the years. Just THINK of all the tunnel time and jumping that would've gotten me! Besides, there were all those clothes from the 80s that you just don't need. I mean, really--leg warmers??!! On the whole, though, it has been good. There are a few little choices along the way that I would've made differently, but no major disasters to rectify. Maybe my best do-overs are yet to come! (Scary thought. . . .) TPM Sister #102
  19. Nothing's ever "extra" when the wind tunnel is just 20 minutes away. . . . TPM Sister #102
  20. NO KIDDING!!! I really, really, really have to find a good bank to knock over. (Except for the whole business about how I can't even tell a lie without my face giving it away, let alone actually STEAL anything.) TPM Sister #102
  21. I think it's ironic that free fall is "stress relief" (this from the girl with big door fear)--but I completely get it! Talk about shifting gears from work to something entirely different. TPM Sister #102
  22. The only difference here is that when you call your sponsor, it's for help with your jumps--not for help in keeping you away from the DZ! (Bill's my de facto sponsor already, whether he knows it or not!) TPM Sister #102
  23. All excellent choices! I'm so sorry Rich Mullins is gone. He had special talent. (And, as an aside, Stephen Curtis Chapman is great, too.) KLOVE.com has streaming music and is usually pretty good, too. TPM Sister #102
  24. Well, I know they're very mainstream, but I love Casting Crowns and "Praise You in this Storm." I don't get tired of hearing that one. TPM Sister #102
  25. WOW--two men (wait--now I'm confused, but anyway, it's lots of men) in the same forum who seem to have good perspective on the matter! I'm very impressed! I'm working on the jumping, so I have to speak from a whuffo-to-whuffo perspective for now, except that I WANT to jump and the guy I'm seeing swore to himself that he would do a lot of things in life, but that he would never paraglide, bungee jump or sky dive. However, I have to give him kudos. His attitude is that it's healthy for two people in a relationship to have their own interests (in addition to the ones they share), and he's encouraging me to get to the DZ and do my tandem. He thinks having separate interests gives each person something more to bring back to the table and that's nice. Besides, I'm a little protective and sort of LIKE it that this is "my" interest and not "ours." We have plenty of other things to enjoy doing together and this doesn't have to be one of them.
