  1. Rumour you heard about is right. Sneaky told me a little about it cos he'll be working there as an instructor. He said this new DZ have a birdman school, an otter with dash 34's 7 mins to 14k and everything you can expect of a big dz execpt Tramontana (no winds in Empuriabrava)!
  2. Many thanks for your thoughts, tips and help. Keep them coming!
  3. C Bracket with padding. Yep it's bold down with a camera screw. Manual focus.
  4. I just started jumping with my video camera. After a few jumps, I watched the footage and wasn't happy with it because the footage were wobbled and shaked a lot. I tried to keep my head still when I jumped but it was quite a fighting with winds against my camera. My bonehead optik's set-up was all good to go and was really tight on my head, even I couldn't move my jaws with chin-up on. My Sony PC101 was on steadyshot and set for 'Sport'. I used Kenko 0.5x wide angle lens. I tried everything I could think of but I couldn't keep my head still and steady. Is this normal for your head to wobble on first few jumps? Am I worried too much? Do I need a stronger neck to keep video steady and solid? Will my neck developed over time? Thanks

  16. That's news to me! Who are them? Where are they from?
  17. Yeah Alan Thompson's good friend of mine. He's pretty good flier eh? I don't know how good your BSL skill is. BSL is different language to ASL. BSL and ASL have their own rules, grammars and sentences. BSL use two hands for alphabet. ASL use only one hand for alphabet. It's advantage for a pint of beer in right hand and you can do alphabet with your left hand at the same time! But it's hard for me to read ASL alphabet though. I think you'll struggle to understand ASL alphabet because it's so different to BSL that we used to. Some ASL signs are similar to BSL's but it have different meaning. For example: ASL's "What?" is same sign for BSL's "Where?". Yeah I was confused when it come to this and still is! ASL's "Who?" = BSL's "Why?" I think. A few ASL signs have same meaning to BSL signs but I can't remember what they were. http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/ - ASL Browser http://www.masterstech-home.com/ASLDict.html - A Basic Dictionary of ASL Terms If you met a deaf american, make sure you tell her/him where you come from and make her/him to sign slowing! If you don't understand, please don't aplogise repeat that you don't understand (it driving me crazy!). Try to do other way around by gestures. It's depends on you and other really. Just do your best to understand. If fail that, find a pen and a bit of paper! Good Luck! Stu
  18. Cool! Never thought it would happen here! A little about me - My name is Stuart Wilson, English, profoundly deaf and BSL user. Been jumping for 2½ years. Oh yeah I have ordered my new Micron a few day!

  23. Flatflyer tend to use booties and fit, slim jumpsuit with minimum dragging. I did a lot of tracking at my DZ cos it's my favourite dive. On a few track dives one of my mate was a RW skydiver, he used his RW jumpsuit. He tracked just like a piece of cake, he doing 'lazy' tracking (he arched a lot and his leg were total straight) and stayed so close with rabbit most of dive. I teased and called him the cheat bastard and took the piss out of him on track dives. I used my FF suit with 'medium' dragging. I tend to de-arch, roll my shoulder, dive at steep angle and flying like atomunati / babylon guys. I found this flying much more effective, flexible and very fast. I have no problem stay with rabbit but I had to 'brake' lot of time by use my arms and legs spreaded out to slow down. I wonder if my mate can do this. I don't think so. I reckon flatflyer is good at max out and lifting tracking. Freeflyers are better at having fun time and better skills at various speeds, barrel rolls, back tracking, docks, formation etc... Oh yeah I forget to add:- I did 15 way deaf world record jumps last september and a guy with some 1500 jumps under his belt joined us. On every jumps, at the break off point I tracked away with plenty of lifts and I was bit surprised to see how this guy tracked away, he had no lift at all. Basically he dived toward earth and burned a lot of alti before he pulled. He was the most lowest puller than us! I guess it's depends on every individual. Excuse me for my lousy English.
