Damn! I am totally unaware of this issue. No one tolds me about it. My Safire's 144 and I thought it's little smaller than Sabre 150 but actual size (PD's measure) is about 132ft²? My first thought of wing load was 1.28 but I worked out it's possible my actual wing load is at least 1.4! No wonder why it's so small than Spectre 150 when I first saw it and compared to my friend's Spectre 150. Also my friends were surprised to find out how small it was. No wonder why it flied much faster, turn's more faster etc... I love this canopy - it's so much fun to fly. My exit weight is about 185-190lbs and did 220 jumps. I did 30 jumps on it so far, all my landing were most excellent - still find it trick to land. Quite interesting because I asked my instructors, staffs and many experienced skydivers about my downsize - they approved it and told me being careful but they didn't warn me it's actually smaller than 144. Maybe that's reason they didn't tell me cos I jumped on Safire 169 before. A friend asked me if he can try my 144 one day when he reached reasonable experience. I agreed a while ago but now I changed my mind and turned him down cos he did only 140 jumps - he's still jumping on 170. He is lucky cos I found out about this! It could end up badly for him and me.

Many of my whuffo mates would try a bungee jump but wouldn't try a skydive. I asked them why they won't doing it - most reponses were "I ain't jump from 12k feet cos it's too high!". They asked me why I wouldn't do a bungee jump - I told them it's too low and scary than skydiving. They thought I was crazy! I haven't done it yet - I have no idea what it's like but it kinda put me off cos I heard few stories - back stretch injury, blind (bloody vessel burst inside eyeballs when elastric stuff pull u back up) etc... Do u reckon I should have a go?

Why not XBOX? I heard it's much better, much faster, brilliant graphic, sounds etc... than Playstation 2. Well I was told by 'ex-playstation 2' players. They prefer Xbox now. I think it's the similar price as Playstation 2. Anyway your choice! Try:- http://www.gameplay.co.uk http://www.amazon.co.uk http://www.play.com

How to track 90 degree off jump run line?
deaffreeflyer replied to deaffreeflyer's topic in Safety and Training
I had a few close calls - most of them were canopies coming staight to me really FAST! I don't want to be in this situation again for sure, you know how I felt like. I didn't had someone passed me very close when I am in under full canopy yet. I still don't want it happen to me. I want to try to avoid it as much as I can. My problem is after break off, I track away from people I jumped with but I have no idea if I track in jump run line or away from it. So far, nothing close calls happened - I must have been lucky. I think it's waiting to happen to me. I found it difficult to know where direction of jump run line is. I don't have time to recognise where it is and track away 90 degree off from it. You know I can't afford to spare few sec to look around after the break off then track away. My dz's area are full of fields but I can recognise some roads, fields, pwer line etc but it'll take time to know where jump run is. It's difficult for me because my dz don't have tarmac / concrete runway. I tried to see my dz but it didn't help me much at all - it's all green, yellow and brown fields to me! I hope you'll give me some good tips/advices/recommends to solve my problem. I don't want to put myself and other in danger because it can be avoid. -
Hope you'll find my ideas useful

Welcome to skydiving world! Click this link Totalcontrol.com.au for videos. I recommend 'CrossWind' - it's so awesome and excellent to start with. 'Olav' and 'Evolution' are main freeflying - people who doing sitflying, headdown etc... Plenty of breathtaking moves in it. Enjoy and be careful!

I can't decide who is the best out there. All well known freefliers are damn hot, great, awesome etc... So I reckon best freefliers who have ability to fly in any dimensions, creative plenty of ideas - way of fly, smooth etc... Flyboyz, Olav, Ippo and many other can do this piece of cake. I'll vote Omar Alhegelan because he is so brilliant at his sitflying, stand up, headdown and he have many ideas and great ability to creative way of flying. I dropped my jaws every time i saw him on some footages (national, world cup etc...) By the way, I haven't see footages of Rook Nelson and his team performed in National yet.

You can surf Paratec's website and find out about this company. More information about Speed Reserve. I found out this information and compare with other well known reserve:- PD Reserve 126 - 16.27ft Span 7.75ft Chord 296 Pack Volume PD Reserve 143 - 17.33ft Span 8.25ft Chord 338 Pack Volume Dash-M 135 - 17.40ft Span 7.70ft Chord 304 Pack Volume Speed 135 - 18.83 ft Span 7.58ft 248 Pack Volume Speed 135 size is bigger than PD 126 which seem fine to me but I am just concerned about volume - it's a lot smaller than PD Reserve 126 and Dash-M 135. So you see why I don't know which Javelin Odyssey size - NJK or TJNK should I go for because of reserve volume - Javelin size chart I was looking for if this reserve passed TSO C23d stuff. I was under impressive that it did some tests - loaded test, speed deployemnt - 150 knot. Website translated German to English but it's not perfect English. You can have a look in the News. It's on 2nd column, 1st paragraph. I am not sure if Speed Reserve is TSO'd. I know few guys jump with it and their rig looks so tiny! They even went to USA and no problem with it. I know it's not well known in the world but I haven't heard anything bad about it.

Do anyone here know more about German reserve - Speed? I was told it is a very good reserve and really cheap. It's really popular in UK cos it's much cheap - I can buy it without any shipping and import duties etc... So I surfed into www.paratec.de to find out more about it. I was shocked to discover how small packing volume. Compare this Speed 135's packing volume is 248 and PD Reserve 126 is 296. But there was not much info about it. Anyway I am not sure which size of Javelin I should go for cos of reserve volume. I don't think this Speed 135 will be suitable for 126 to 135 reserve Javelin - it'll be too loose. Do you reckon Speed 135 will be perfect for a container - size between 106 to 120?

Have a look at Flite Suit's website. I would recommend it for you start with. It made me fly much better. Just phone or email Flite Suit and explain what size you are, what sort of drag you are looking for etc... They'll tell you what they think best for you.

Whoa, I didn't expect this big. I enjoyed read your interesting history with David and Kyle. Keep it up.

Levin's suit and rig looks exactly the same as David's. Check this pic out:- http://freespace.virgin.net/deaf.fish/14-waydwr.jpg That's what made me asking. Is he in a FF team with Levin? Anyway, this took place last year Sept for Deaf World Record - 14way - unofficial.

Cool pix! A guy in your pix quite familiar to me - this guy in red/yellow suit with red/yellow racer rig. Is this David Armstrong, deaf dude from Texas?

RSL or No RSL, that is the question....
deaffreeflyer replied to Ruffles's topic in Safety and Training
Yeah we know how you felt about this! Everyone and me went through this before. Pretty confused, stuck in middle and nowhere to go?! My rigger and instructor told me everything about pros & cons of RSL. They told me there are no straight, right or wrong answers to have RSL or not. They made me go home, think about it careful and come back to tell them what was my decision. So I did what they told me to. When I was home, I thought about it careful and realised that when I wanted to became a skydiver. At this point I knew nothing about RSL and Cypres and I was willing to jump. Because I thought it was my responsible to save my own ass by pull cutaway and reserve if any malfunction happened. All I know was 2 parachutes on my back! I aware and accepted the risk of injury and death in skydiving sport. All I can do to be more safe and careful. When I started my AFF I found out about RSL and Cypres which I never been thought about. I didn't think it will make sport 100% safety and guarantee come back ground safety. What I am trying to make point - you chose to jump because it's fun but you're prepared and aware of risk etc... Did you know anything about RSL and Cypres before you decided to jump? I didn't. RSL and Cypres are reduce risk to minimum and make sport little more safety but no guarantee. All we can do is hope it will work! You see what I am trying to make a point that we (not all!) will jump without it if it don't even existing! I hope this make sense to you. Then I looked into RSL issue and I chose not to have it because I believe in myself and my ability to pull cutaway and pull reserve in no matter what. I went back to DZ and told my instructor about my decision. He's happy with it as long as I am happy and comfortable with my decision and know my risk etc... But I know RSL can be really good in some areas e.g. your left arm's broke by mid-air collision you can't able to pull reserve with ur right arm or very low cutaway. But I chose not to and it's my ass! Of course I do want to keep bring my ass back to sky - all I have to do is be more safe and careful - aware of risks etc... All you can do is - look into RSL issue and make your own decision. No one will tell you're stupid to have it or not. It's your life you play with. I am sure you'll make right one for yourself as long as you're happy and comfortable with it or without it. Good Luck! PS - Excuse me for my English. It's not my first language. -

I saw Mike Ortiz did some sitflying with his Gath Retractable Visor in his Party Mix video. It seems okay to him but I can imagine I might get choke in it while stand up or sitflying. I am not too sure if my home dz will let me jump with it. You could give him a ring or message about it - school@advancedflight institue.com

Thanks for those comments. I realised it is all due to length of yoke. This made a lot of sense to me. I'll have a good word with my rigger about it soon and decided whether to resize adjustment or find a rig with narrow yoke. Many thanks again

Thanks for advices. I'll do that soon. My rig isn't new, it's about 7 years old. I bought it last year from my rigger. He owned it first hand. I tested it before I bought it. I have no problem with my rig on flat, sitflying, tracking, back tracking etc... for 200 jumps. Until when I tried some headdowns. I told my rigger about the problem, he was very surprised and he tolds me he thinks harness's just bit loose for me cos my shoulder's quite narrow. He thinks a possible solution to make harness fit me better by shorten the length of between chest rings to hip rings. I trust my rigger at my home dz but I wasn't keen on the idea of him fixing it for me. I would like to know if it's good idea to send it to Florida from UK and have it adjustment? I reckon it will cost a lot - at least $250 for shipping etc... Anyone here went through this before? I know second hand rig will never fit me perfectly until I got enough dosh to cough up for a brand new one - not in 2 years! Thanks for your time

Not sure which I should post in Gear & Rigging or Freeflying forums. I wonder if this is a real problem. When I practised headdown, I felt my rig harness nearly fell out of my left shoulder. I looked at it and was really shocked to see it's almost out of place - on side of my arm! I turned to sitflying straight away. On the next lift I tighted my chest strap up and tried again. It didn't make any difference and it didn't stay on my shoulder. I banned myself from headdown. I was so gutted cos I made a great progess on my headdown. I asked Eli (Flyboyz) about it and he said it's probably good idea to not practise headdown on my rig. I don't know what to do next - buy a new rig? I can't afford it. Or maybe send it to a rigger to make harness smaller to fit me? Any advice? Thanks for your time.
