Those are pretty badass! Miami

I bet with that kind of focal length! The top of point two has a little blur, they all look great though. Miami
-
Wow, very unique and very nice pictures! Hand held or tripod? Miami
-
I've never tried it in color...but I agree about the results, not crazy about them but it does get the effect. If you shoot it in digital and keep the camera relatively still you can keep one background and quickmask the rest out of the other frames to make a sequence. No fading of the moving subject, either. Miami
-
What camera do you plan on using to get the effect? Canon's film SLRs have a function to do this in the camera...but the more frames you have on the negative the lighter the moving subject will be. If you are using digital it's pretty easy...don't even need a tripod really, just photoshop. Miami

Install larger grommets on your slider. Miami

Me too. It's kind of amusing (well, annoying is it's an item I'm going to bid on) to watch people bid something way up days before the auction is going to end. What's the point? Miami

Ok, pretty proud of myself for a righteous snipe tonight for a hard drive I'd had my eye on for a while and it made me think of previous threads about ebay and sniping...what are peoples thoughts on it now? Is it becoming common sense that it is nonsense to place a bid early in an auction? Miami

Been almost a year since my snip job and I couldn't be happier with it. Little pinch for the numbing shot, sore for a few days afterward, but had it done on a monday and was doing aff and tandems that weekend. Kept it iced for three days and had no swelling issues. Only had to provide 2 samples to confirm there were no swimmers. Weirdest thing about it was rubbing one out a couple weeks after and having a little blood mixed in with the jizz...that or trying my best not to pop wood while the very cute asian urologist had her face in my crotch! I give them everything, which ranges from 100-150 pictures, depending. Much easier for me to use my stand alone cd burner/card reader than try and pick out which ones to give them. We don't even offer stills only, so no input there... Miami

Take a look at 2KComposites...the FF2 is a great snag free option if he wants to stick with a side mount setup, or the Azimuth if he wants to go with the top mount option. If you want more info on them just PM me and I'll fill you in! (or you can take a look at my site, linked below) Hope that helps! Miami

Certainly is, and good advice...a step further, straighten them out as often as necessary, even if that means after every jump. It does not appear to be contributing to the situation in the picture though...none of the other lines are knotted with, or at least show any characteristics of being knotted with, the steering line. I took a guy up for a level 1 (cat A) who was 86 or 87, can't remember exactly... He came out, wanted to jump...we were of course worried about his age. After a lot of talking to figure out if it was possible we put him up in a hanging harness and found he couldn't reach one of his arms up high enough to get the toggle due to a weak shoulder. Told him sorry, it just wouldn't work out. Three or four weeks later he shows up, wants back in the hanging harness. We put him in it and he can easily reach the toggles, as well as pass anything else we threw at him. So we figured why not, the was a lifelong dream of his, he knew the dangers and he was certainly passionate about doing it, so we trained him and took him up. In air his body position was pretty bad. Not much of an arch (ok really none), poor leg position, poor arm position. Not crazy unstable though so after we got no response to a few of signals we basically both just hung on and let him enjoy the freefall. At pull time I kind of had to wrap his hand around the handle to get him to pull, and he did. Canopy control was fine and he had a nice landing right in the middle of the landing area. Hands down the most nervous I've ever been on a jump. Afterward he asked if he could jump again, but we declined him to preserve our own sanity. Miami

Basically, the slider got stuck halfway and I saw a little bulk just under the right rear grommet. Then I pulled and quickly released both steering lines several times, the slider went down, the right cells inflated and that was all. Unfortunately the picture quality is not good enough to show the little bulk under the grommet. What you have that I can see is a hung slider and end cell closure. The end cell closure would not be caused by a tension knot on the steering line, either. I'm assuming what you mean by "released both steering lines several times" is that you pumped the brakes...which is exactly what you want to do if you have a hung slider and/or end cell closure. You were the one under the canopy though, so even though the picture does not show a tension knot maybe there was something there... I would venture to say though that what you had was not a tension knot malfunction, but the inconvenience of a hung slider and end cell closure that you properly handled. But hey, what do I know... Are you sure that's a tension knot, and what makes you think it is? Miami

Don't ever blow into your camera! Even a gentle little blow will send tons of spit and humidity flying at the sensor! Read your manual on the basics of cleaning your camera, but also use proper prevention to keep dust out of it in the first place. Always have something on the body of the camera, either a lens or a body cap. When you swap lenses keep the camera facing down...helps keep dust from settling in, and on top of that every time you remove and add a lens the friction on the lens mount makes more dust, better to have it fall away than on your sensor. If you get an air cannon (never compressed air) don't put the tip past the lens mount and have the camera point downward when you blast it out, and make sure you lock the mirror up when you do that...your sensor won't get very clean if you're blowing dust off your mirror... If all that doesn't work you can take it to a shop to have it professionally cleaned...or if you're feeling particularly spunky you can pick up some eclipse fluid and some sensor swabs of the proper size and clean it yourself. Take heed though...if you do this and scratch your sensor you basically just made yourself a really snazzy looking paper weight! Hope that helps... Miami

You got 30 from me, all 5 computers at work and 1 at home... Miami

Thanks Saskia, it's very close...would need just a little more of the side walls. Scott (Icon134) has hooked me up with the perfect picture, though...thanks a million! Miami

Looking for a picture from the inside of any tailgate a/c looking out the rear over the open tailgate. Doesn't matter if it's in flight or not, preferably with no bodies in it, but still ok if there are. If anyone has anything that might fit this and is willing to let me use it for my photoshop class please PM me so I can send you the address to email it to. Thanks! Miami

Connecting Your Camera Suit Wing to the Hip Ring with metal clips
Miami replied to DJL's topic in Photography and Video
I guess I just got used to them cause I don't look at all when unclipping the rsl clips...they're in the same place each time. The only time I've used the plastic clips was 5 or 6 camera suits ago when there was a big velcro sandwich and a clip below it, but obviously they still work well for other applications! Miami -
Connecting Your Camera Suit Wing to the Hip Ring with metal clips
Miami replied to DJL's topic in Photography and Video
One of my tony camera suits has small loops of trim tape with a small ring for the rsl to clip into. The loop goes over the leg strap just about the friction adaptor. Pain in the butt if you are switching rigs and only have one set of loops with the ring on them! Both of my firefly camera suits have the loop and ring built into the wing, so doesn't matter what rig you are jumping, they get looped around the legstrap just above the friction adaptor and the rsl clips them into place. Seems odd to make a suit to clip into the hip ring only...not all rigs have hip rings... Miami -
You didn't get enough of that in MS? Me either... Miami

Not exactly sure how much further...I don't keep track of distances or anything, I like the speed. If I had to guess I would say about 10-20% further, with a stronger feeling flare. Miami

I had a pair of Xaos 21 78's and was concerned about the same things before I switched to the 27 of the same size. I've been on the 27 for a few years now and love it. The openings are not quite as nice as the 21, but still better than most canopies I've jumped. I jump video a lot and am very happy with the openings. The biggest difference I noticed in the performance I noticed was the power in the flare...otherwise they flew pretty similar for me loaded at about 2.9:1. Hope that helps... Miami

My total cholesterol a couple months ago was 129...I forget my exact LDL/HDL count but they were both normal. edit - I was thinking about you today...one of my patients today came in for an echo to check for pericarditis. Miami
