No cameye? I've been using a blow switch for the last 500 or so camera jumps and really like it...what do you think of it so far? Miami
-
It almost certainly will...the plate the camera mounts on is adjustable, so even if the pc1000 is taller you can drop the plate to compensate. The biggest problem you might run into is that the cutout for the buttons on the back of the box may not line up exactly with the buttons on the pc1000, which is minor at most. Miami

That sucks...unfortunately you'll still have some flukes, either a camera that still breaks no matter how well you treat it...or a camera that just keep on running despite being abused like a red headed step child. In general though, having your gear in a box will provide more protection and longer life than without. Miami

You have no idea how many times I thanked my lucky stars our lab did not perform nocturnal penile tumescence studies. I'm sorry, but I will never attach sensors to some dude's wang. And yes, it was nice to have 2 people working the night shift, cause once the patients go to sleep it's a one person job to watch them, so we took turns leaving. Miami

Thats a usual complaint...but it was very unusual that someone could not fall asleep at all. The time you have to relax after getting all the leads hooked up give you a little while to get used to the wires...then when you lay down it's just a matter of not whipping an arm around and pulling any of the leads off. We had to have a sleep study performed ourselves as part of our training...it wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world but it really wasn't bad at all. Miami

Probably because those pros know how to treat their cameras. They are very intimate with the clearance they have in the plane, during climbout, during opening, etc.. For someone who is newer to video a box will extend the life of your camera not because of moisture (well...it will protect from a good bit of direct moisture like rain, but not against temp-change induced condensation and the like)...it will extend the life of the camera because it protects it from the users abuse. I don't think I have it...pm it to me please. Miami

I haven't seen the new side-fx in person yet, but if it's like the previous model it's an excellent helmet as well. A huge benefit to the side-fx is the cost...significantly less than the FF2 and comes with the cutaway system standard, which is a pricey upgrade to the other helmets. You'd be surprised how much flexibility you have with cameras in the FF2...I've had some people put as many as 8 or 9 different pc style cameras in the same helmet. I've only heard great things about the build quality in the past couple years...maybe the bad review you read was older? Miami

Oops! You're right, I got it backwards...I meant to say 1GBP=2.03USD. Miami

Nope, UNK...unknown. Miami

I bought my seal and press from ParaGear, and the symbol fits on a typical seal, but it's close. It seems that it should be the responsibility of the vendor to make sure the symbol fits on a seal. Perhaps they need to sell a bigger lead seal blank, or perhaps they need to make the seal impression a bit smaller. In either case, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the FAA issuing combinations that don't work. Try contacting the vendor that produced your seal press to see what they can do. I unscrewed one of the die on the press and put a washer underneath...that solved the problem of the seal not getting squished enough to display all of my symbol. Miami

I spent 4 years working in one...here is what our patients had to do... If they just ordered a basic sleep study on you expect to show at roughly 8pm, get a bunch of EEG leads pasted on your scalp, next to your eyes, possibly on your jawline, a flow sensor under your nose...then all of the wires gathered in a ponytail and plugged into a little box that will eventually plug into the wall. You should have a private room, but will be setup with video and sound so they can monitor your sleep position and any noises you make while you sleep. After getting all the wires hooked up you usually have some time to relax and get used to all the wires...maybe read a book, watch some tv, whatever. When you are ready to get in bed you'll probably get some leads pasted on your legs and a couple of belts around your chest and stomach. Then you sleep through the night...if any leads come off they may come in to replace them. Then they wake you up in the morning and unhook everything...for PTSD that will probably be all they do. If the test for narcolepsy or OSA there would be other test to run. Does that help, or do you have any other questions? Miami

When I got my ticket I was giving the choice from a list of about 20 different seal symbols...I picked UNK. Miami

The value of the pound has gone up quite a bit (or the value of the dollar has dropped, depending on how you look at it)...it is now about 1USD=2.03GBP. Miami

An FF2 built for a pc9 with the cameye built in and the cutaway system installed, including shipping, would run you just under $700. Both are damn nice helmets though, so I'm sure you would be happy with either. Miami

Looks like mostly corn and peanuts...at least you know he won't have any problems taking his pills later in life! Miami

What the hell are you feeding my nephew? Miami

Can never be too safe, right? Seriously though, I laughed so hard when I went back and read it that way it almost made my eyes water. I think I've actually been to Xenia once but it was the middle of winter and the one jump I made there almost gave me frostbite. Now I just gotta see if I can bum a ride out there! Miami

Anyone want to offer a ride to the dz to a vehicle-less jumper on the 18-19th of August? I'm going to be there for a couple weeks and was hoping to get some jumping in...I'll be staying at The Holmes on Eden (231 Eden Avenue) and would repay any help in frosty beverages! Miami

Going to be in Cincinnati 13-24 August for some training, but should be able to escape for some jumping on the weekend...which dz is the closest to the Cincinnati University Hospital Trauma Center or 231 Eden Avenue (the hotel I'm staying at)? Miami

AFF RATING is it easy to get!!!!!
Miami replied to skinnyshrek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Excellent post...mirrors exactly how I feel about the AFFCC. Miami -
I'll accept tips from tandem students but absolutely will not from AFF. I prefer they spend the money on more jumps or beer for the dz. Miami

I know what you mean...I won't get another car that's not a hatch if I can help it. Miami

About 4 or 5 years ago the wife and I were considering a Kia for a second vehicle. We happened to pull up next to one at the bank and asked them how they liked it...they said they hated it and that sure the warranty is great but since they have to take it in for service every week it kinda defeats the purpose. I've heard they're better now though... Miami
