  1. I was only planning on going Saturday. Now you have to go and remind me that I don't have anything better to do on Friday. My wallet can't take this abuse.
  2. Is Bruce Federici also known as Fruce? It looks like Fruce.com has turned into Marissa Partners' home page.
  3. Is a 230 ok? Somebody is selling one in the classifieds. Also, Cousin Dave (888-762-3702) is advertising Hornets. Note: I do not endorse or recommend any of the dealers that I am mentioning. Caveat emptor.
  4. The work for and around your Uni must have been very very different then the work for and around my university. We have shit jobs with shit pay and shit hours... I weaseled my way into a cushy computer job. $10 an hour to sit in a comfy chair, play with Active Directory, and write code in whatever language I felt was best. That and we had a 14 story vertical garbage chute that we would drop heavy stuff down. Never did get around to that bowling ball...
  5. Worse. I'm actively seeking shift work. Ugh. The main thing I miss about the university is my high paying, weekdays only student job. There just isn't anything around here.
  6. Have you called Ralph (503-630-JUMP)? New Hornets aren't being produced anymore, but he might still have some in stock.
  7. Well, there's your problem. Hell, my 8086 has 512k, and that thing is 21 years old. But seriously folks... No way to know for sure, but it sounds like a buggy driver somewhere. Did you try uninstalling your video driver and reinstalling the last known good version? Most likely your mouse (is it that sweet recharging Logitech that I want so much?) doesn't have anything to do with it.
  8. The courses can teach whatever they want, but if you want to get a riggers ticket from the FAA, you'll have to know how to do both. I would suspect that any good course will teach you both. Edit again: I didn't check your profile, so the above is US-centric. RiggerRob will no doubt have all of the information you need about rigging in Canada.
  9. At least it wasn't Avril Levigne.
  10. I think we were talking about the Aerodyne packing instructions.
  11. Mind if I ask what part of the pack job seems unusual to you?
  12. That's weird. I'm using 6.4 and it just automatically downloaded the codec and worked perfectly.
  13. I took it to mean that the cost of insurance on two cars is a little more than the cost of insurance on an RV. Edit: And it looks like I was wrong.
  14. I am no longer a maybe. I am a definite no-show. My free plane tickets fell through, so I can't afford to go.
  15. Spectre didn't post in 2002. I tried pointing this out, but everyone ignored me as usual.
  16. 1 geocache found:0:0 Mostly homework and sleeping. Registered for SDC's Winter Expo this weekend. I'll probably be down there all day Saturday, regardless of the weather.
  17. A couple of 182s built in the late 50s, early 60s.
  18. Hey, I didn't pick the MTA. I'm just making sure he doesn't do something stupid like setting up an open relay. Edit to fix spelling and add: I'm really a big fan of apt, but I have this annoying tendancy to do really weird and/or bleeding edge stuff that breaks apt. I just put RedHat on my box after using the same Deb install for two and a half years. For the last year, apt had been so broken that I couldn't install anything with it. I'm liking RH8 and I'll probably stick with it for a couple of months, but I might go back to Deb. Last time I checked, they were way behind the times, though. Plus I'm on a primarily Microsoft network here and RHs interoperability features are miles ahead of Debian.
  19. I'm sitting at home, helping a friend configure sendmail via Instant Messenger. Talk about a boring Saturday. But wait! I just knocked over a full can of Dr. Pepper. There's my excitement for the weekend. This is very cool. Read it if you are bored.
  20. Have you read Gary Peek's report? He did a bunch of jumps with an electronic barograph and made the results available. Many of the jumps have TAS readings, and they all have "SLAS," sea level airspeed, readings. You probably want to keep in mind that Gary is a big guy, so his speed on the solo jumps might be on the high side.
  21. Pack. I'm a student and only work part time, so jump money is tight. If I pack myself I can make 5 jumps in a day instead of 4.
  22. I call bullshit. I can believe an 8-way for a first jump. But bigway CReW (it's a kite, by the way) into a major city? No way.
  23. Dual boot back and forth between Win2k Pro and Redhat Linux 8. Up until about 5 days ago I had been a Debian user, but I helped a friend install Redhat 8 and was very impressed. Debian is just too far behind the times.
