Yeah. They also got that system's twin sister in another building. After I took it offline, I poked around for an hour or so and couldn't find a root kit. It could be a really good root kit, or it might just be script kiddies getting their rocks off. The old administrator got kicked to the curb a few months ago for letting shit like this slide, and we are still finding problems. Those Sun boxes were running Solaris 4.something and probably hadn't been patched since the 20th century. Right after he left, we found out that the reason backups on a lightly used database server took so long was because the system had been (surprise!) hacked through a known IIS vulnerability and we were also backing up 20 gig worth of warez every night.

Yep. Fortunately I get to split my time doing back end stuff, so it doesn't get too bad. Usually it's installing/upgrading software, or sometimes explaining the difference between the power button and the reset button. The stuff that end users don't see is way more interesting though. Ever log into a Solaris box to fix something and find a file called 'You-GeT-Owned'? I did today. That's bad.

I checked right after Chile posted, and it looks like Amazon yanked all of the reviews in the last week or two.
  4. I have a common first name and a common last name so lots of hits aren't surprising, but: Semen Sales From Brian Martin So, yeah. I think I posted a bunch of other, less gross, ones a while back.
  5. Ace Radiator in Waukegan, IL (hour north of Chicago) has "A great place to take a leak!" painted in huge letters on the side of the building.
  6. I'm not a J Lo fan, and Angelina Jolie was married to Billy Bob Thornton. So neither, I guess.
  7. The point is that you can switch over to any registrar that you want. There are tons of them, all offering varying levels of service and price. The price difference, especially for a business, typically isn't a big deal. I would read reviews of the various registrars and pick one that offers good, consistent service to a costumer. I would personally stay away from a company that sends me spam asking to switch. It has sleaze written all over it. I would also stay away from NetSol, but they seem to do a good enough job for lots of people.
  8. I'm in the same boat as Spy, I put my toggles on the velcro when I land, then set them when I pack.
  9. Radio Shack employees can put in a special order for anything in the catalog at no extra cost to you. It's a simple process, but some RS salespeople get pissy if they have to do work without getting a commission. If they balk about spending 30 seconds putting your info in the computer, ask to talk to their manager.
  10. Try this thread. I think there are a couple of older ones in the archives as well. Since I never answered any of those: Skymaster 230s and 290s, sky barges, 30 jumps or so. Sabre 2 170, new, nice, swoopy, 2 jumps. Sabre 170, couldn't read the warning label to check the DOM, dogged out, 2 jumps. Spectre 170 @ 1.1:1, orange, beautiful, mine all mine, jump 34 to present. I don't plan on downsizing anytime soon, but I may switch to a 9-cell next summer. We'll see.

  12. Fine. Jeez. I just finished the CS stuggle of my life. It was me, mano e Makefile. Seven hours. No holds barred. Just when it looked like the pointers had me beaten, I came out of nowhere with an unexpected dereference. From this day forward, lists, both single and doubly linked, are my bitch. Happy now?
  13. I still want to know where that 2002 inspection sticker came from. It's bugging me. Did he get the unit inspected and approved for use, or did he fake the sticker? Ich bin confused.
  14. I think they should just go ahead with the proposed duel.
  15. Yeah, the one where he couldn't remember "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" really made me laugh. They way he tried and came up short a couple of times before he just made something up gave me flashbacks to when I had to recite Shakespeare in high school english.
  16. The main label on the unit shows a DOM of 01/94, which matches the info on SSK's site. The inspection sticker is on the side of the unit, it reads "2002 Airtec Check/U"
  17. I'm sort of confused about all of this now. The seller added an update to the listing saying that he was selling the unit in the picture. The unit in the picture has a 2002 inspection sticker on it, but it's serial number is still on SSK's unairworthy list. Has anybody gotten ahold of SSK to make sure that the unit wasn't inspected and deemed airworthy since the last time that their list was updated? PS: Just a note for whoever was going to contact the FAA: The seller is in Canada, so there isn't much the FAA can do until it crosses the border.
  18. I sent the high bidder a message letting him know that this guy has tried to sell unairworthy Cypri before, along with links to the old auction, selected threads on this site, and the SSK missing/unairworthy list. I also urged him/her to cancel the bid and report the seller to eBay if the seller will not disclose the serial number of the Cypres that he is selling.
  19. Email him at info@extremefly.com, send him a private message here ("Messages" button at the top of the page), or check out Atair's contact info.
  20. Mr. T Ate My Balls!. (Plus other people who, for one reason or another, ate my balls.)
  21. "What does 'nubian' mean?" So it's not that funny out of context, but that whole scene is hilarious.
  22. I mean, not only is he a Libertarian, but he permanently turned himself blue preparing for Y2K.
  23. This Saturday I have to be at work in time to have a few racks of servers shut down for a planned power outage at 5 AM. Fun. Sunday I'll sleep. I can't really afford to jump this weekend anyway.
