What's the big deal about that? Good crew coordination...other than that, it's damn near the same as hovering. Granted, I don't fly twin rotor helo's(at least I haven't yet)...but it's not the first time I've seen something like that. I had an old Vietnam Huey pilot that taught me to fly helo's...he used to make me land with one skid on a concrete pad we had, the other off the side(with about a 2' drop to the ground) in the air....and keep it there while he fucked with me.. He was a crazy bastard, but I learned a hell of a lot from him. I learned early on not to ask him what NOE flying was like in the jungle....there were lots of trees nearby to demonstate.. Mike

HEY! who you calling a freeflyer! Trust me...I would never call YOU a freeflyer...hell, it's a stretch for me to call you a belly flyer.. Mike

What kind of rebreather? I, myself, like the YBOD.. Mike

Well, that must be your problem right there....you are apparently a wannabe French Canadian...those people are freaks.. Mike

It's the other way around. To go from mph to knots, take mph and DIVIDE by 1.15 - or you can multiply it by .87...same result. 100mph is 87knots. 100 knots is 115mph. Mike

I've been SCUBA diving since 1994, skydiving since 1996. My SCUBA certs include SSI Master Diver, TDI Advanced Trimix, NSS/CDS & NACD Full Cave. I have about 500 dives - 300 or so are cave, 150 or so are deeper than 200'. Deepest cave dive - 350'FFW. Deepest OW dive - 380'FSW. I do mostly cave and deep wrecks these days. Mike

I wonder how many people actually remember that.. That was a long time ago...well over 2 years.. Mike

Do you mean you hope to go to Florida or Texas next week? Skydive Spaceland is just south of Houston, TX, Skydive Space Center is in Titusville, FL. I used to jump at Titusville, but haven't been there in nearly 3 years. Some things occured that I wasn't too excited about...so I split. I've been thinking I need to go back and check the place out soon.. Mike

In what ways aren't Paras single or (LDAs) double action? He's actually right, when talking about the LDA's. They are not straight single action, because the hammer is drawn back as you pull the trigger - then it falls. They are not straight double action, because you cannot pull the trigger repeatedly and have the hammer draw back and drop unless the slide cycles between trigger pulls. If it's a TRUE double action, and you have an empty chamber, you can pull the trigger as many times as you want and the hammer will cycle every time. Of course, the original Para's are TRUE single action. Mike

But then there's the issue of over-penetration. That's one of the reasons I prefer .45 - because the round is significantly slower, so it won't over-penetrate as much if you miss your target and hit something else. It would suck to have a round go through a wall and kill somebody outside or in the next house/apartment.. Mike

Somebody posted that the RV slots are covered with the registration fee....is that true? Do they have many of 'em? I'm hoping there will be one left when I show up on Monday afternoon/evening....electric is all I'd really need. I'd hate to have to run a generator and make all that noise... Mike

Well...double action as much as the Glock line is. It's not 100% true double action since you have to rack the slide before the hammer moves when you pull the trigger. True DA would be where you pull the trigger repeatedly(with no round in it) and it brings the hammer back and drops it every time without the slide cycling. Of course, this would be pointless in an auto...since you have to rack the slide to get a round in the chamber. Mike

Most people that shoot that much load their own...when I was shooting several hundred rounds a week, the difference in 9mm and .45 was like $5-6 a week, at most. Like I said originally, though....most people don't shoot anywhere NEAR that much. That's VERY rare. Most gun owners shoot a couple times a year on average. Mike

Dude, I had a G17 for many years....and I went for almost 4 years without cleaning it, and put about 7500 rounds through it, with not a single malfunction. I finally had to clean it since I decided to sell it. Mike

.45ACP without a doubt. Don't worry about the "cost of ammo" as some people have stated...you're talking a couple bucks difference per 50 rounds. How much do you plan to shoot it? 500 rounds a month, you're gonna pay about 20-25 bucks a month more for ammo. Much less if you reload your own. Plus, how many gun owners actually put 500 rounds a month through their guns? Not many. You'll probably average more like 100, at the most. I carry a Para Ordnance C6.45LDA. It's a compact .45ACP, double action only, with a 6 round mag. You can get the C7.45LDA with a 7 round mag and a bit longer barrel - but all other features are the same. They are called the Para Carry(C6) and Para Companion(C7). They have several more similar models. Check out... Para-Ordnance I don't normally feel a need to carry a spare mag with me, but I do occasionally. Without it I have 7 rounds. With it I have 13. The guys that say they want to carry the guns with the largest magazine capacity are, IMO, incompetent shooters. If you are in combat or law enforcement, more ammo is a valid argument...but if you are a civilian, chances are you will never fire more than 2 rounds if there is ever a reason. I had reason to draw my weapon once, and I fired.....guess how many rounds? 2. That was all that was needed. Some people will tell you it's in case they get into a shootout with multiple people...well, with 7 rounds, I can take on 3 or 4 people if necessary. Don't waste ammo. The biggest thing is control your shots. I also have a Glock 30 that I used to carry(and occasionally still do depending on the most appropriate holster) . Awesome gun. If you like the Glock, it's a great carry gun - but for me, the Glock 30 is a bit larger than I wanted for carry. I got my Para for a bit under $700. For my Para, I have a Galco Ultra Deep Cover holster. For the Glock, I have many different holsters. I also have a Beretta 92FS, Glock 19, Glock 21, Glock 23, Para Ordnance P14.45...and a few more.. I prefer .45 over 9mm for carry hands down. I could be carrying a 9mm Glock with a 15 round mag that isn't much bigger - but I prefer the .45. For ammo...for .45 I use 230gr Hydra-shocks.. For 9mm, 147gr Hydra-shocks.. For the .40, 165gr Hydra-shocks. For target shooting, I use my own loads. Mike

Always. It has saved my life twice in a car. Once when I was a passenger in a head on collision(dead ass drunk and passed out, too), and another time when I was a passenger in a hotel van. We had left the airport, on the way to the hotel...and some schmuck clipped the front end after passing on a 2 lane road. Driver overcompensated, crossed into the dirt on the opposite side, and rolled. Several times. One of the Flight Attendents was not wearing a seatbelt - she broke both arms and her collarbone. Everybody else walked away with nothing worse than cuts and bruises - we were wearing seatbelts. Mike

Funny how the place selling it advertises 4,000fpm climb rate, but the company that does those mods advertises 2500fpm. Their performance charts show a 7 minute climb from SL to 15,000ft. About 6 minutes to 13,000. Fast? Definitely...but not 4,000fpm. You will probably get 4,000fpm when the airplane is empty, with light fuel...but not with a full load. Very disturbing that somebody would volunteer for that....but no suprise as to the results. I eat at McDonald's about once every 9-12 months....and after I eat there, I realize why I hadn't for the previous 9-12 months, and vow not to eat there again. I try to avoid fast food whenever possible, but when I am out on the road for work, sometimes it's that or nothing. I try to find a Wendys and grab some of their chili and a salad, or find a taco bell and get 2 crispy tacos. Quiznos, Subway, and Arbys are also on my "will eat" fast food list. Both make for fairly low cal, but high fat content, meals. The only fries I eat are at home....and cooked in the oven, not in the grease. I get sick to my stomach if I eat more than a few of those greasy fast food fries. Mike

You sick, sick girl.. Do you know Michael Jackson's "monkey" personally? Mike

Nice. Continuous lines, I see, like the Nitro and the Precision canopies. I had a Nitro a few years ago, loved it. What sizes are you gonna have for demo? Does it really perform well up to a 2.2 wing loading? What is the optimal wing loading for distance? You say very fast...how so compared to a Xaos? Mike

Who here all thinks Aviatrr is trying to fill up all of page one of talkback?

I don't think "sleep" is the appropriate word for what happened to me last night... OK, so who did I DD last night? My cell phone shows a bunch of numbers I don't recognize....was I just dialing randomly? One of the calls was 45 minutes, with somebody in the 310 area code...? Mike -
I think he meant a $350,000 house in the Keys....which is like a $100,000 house in San Diego.. Mike

This does not work everywhere. In the Orlando area, I asked some of the guys from the Orange County and Seminole County Sherrif's offices, as well as guys from Orlando PD....and they all said that they are not allowed to give any kind of info or recommendations like that. Supposedly one of them did so many years ago, and the review of a specific housing development was not favorable...and the builders sued them, and won(both the PD and the individual officer), for "defamation".. I know a few guys working in law enforcement in the area, so I asked them...and they asked the guys working those specific areas...off the record, of course. When I looked at the house I eventually bought, I saw an Orlando PD motorcycle officer pull into the garage in the house right behind me. Went over and talked to him...again, off the record...was satisfied, and bought the house. Mike

For those of you that are sick and tired of seeing those photoshopped pics of Sangiro with those happy faces covering his face...here's a real, 100% unedited picture of him from the holiday boogie, along with a few other dz.commers... Mike
