  1. I know next to nothing about Six Sigma wouldn't the defect rate for the "most stringent six sigma international production standads" be 3.4 per million? And isn't 6 out of 2,500 a rate of about .25% and not .1%? I do think UPT has extremely high quality and have always been happy with my rigs from them.
  2. Wow! The DZ or DZO actually made that video? They treat their customers like that? By mocking them? Hope you like your new DZ....sounds like a much nicer place than the original one.
  3. They probably read about the Red Bull guys on DZ.com

  5. Very true Dave and a good thing for a newer jumper to be aware of. Simon, on my 35'th or so jump the face of my analog altimeter moved counter clockwise about 90 degrees.....when I was at 2,500 feet it looked like 5,500 (I guess that is about 760 and 1,600 meters) and it was my second jump without an AAD (back in '91 right before Cypres was on the market). The ground looked big so I pulled.....when I got down I was horrified to look at my altimeter and see 3,000 feet on it. Never completely trust any device......trust your instincts!
  6. ...I like the mudflap suggestion. I have analog on mudflap (for wingsuiting) and use a digital on my wrist.
  7. Great show! Don't think i have missed many episodes. There are supposed to be 2 more seasons. They seem to start in the summer time for some reason.
  8. Would slots be available for people just wanting to pay for a couple of jumps? Would love to do the comp but can't ski due to a knee injury.
  9. Other than BPA's "Skydive the Mag" what other English language skydiving magazines can people recommend? I just downloaded the form for "Skydive" but as it is only 6 times a year I am looking for another one that can keep me satiated between it and Parachutist.
  10. Very nice. The bonus stabbing footage was A+! Is that dude still with us?
  11. Noooooooo! I was probably one of the few people who did a 10 year subscription and I was about to re-up it again. By far and away my favorite magazine that I always look forward to. Damn damn damn.
  12. Ditto that. It was great to get out of cold and snowy New England for a fun long weekend in FL. The flocks were fun and it was nice to meet some new birds. The sunset beach load was awesome....and it didn't end up like this: Not the best sunset load Welcome back to the sky Rick!
  13. Psycho, if you are reasonably fit I doubt you will find it grueling. If you suffer any type of altitude sickness though then it will be brutal. 3 days in Cuzco is a great plan. Drink plenty of water and don't drink a lot of alcohol (or any for that matter!) the night before you start the hike. Two other tips: If you want an excellent restaurant in Cuzco check out the restaurant in the Monestario hotel. It is amazing and worth the cost: http://www.monasterio.orient-express.com/web/ocus/ocus_dining_illariy.jsp After you do the Inca trail reward yourself with a night at the Inkaterra hotel which is right at the base of Macchu Picchu. The place is beautiful and has little bungalows built right into the mountainside. It is a great place to relax and have a after the long trek. http://www.inkaterra.com/en/machu-picchu
  14. Good job Scott! How did you notice that after only one issue?
  15. Simply activates the reserve with different thresholds (i.e. speed or altitude) than the "expert" model.
  16. $75 for a 3 Bed, 3 bath,1700 sf condo in Boston. Two Brazilian ladies, takes them about two and a half hours. They clean top to bottom....kitchen, bathrooms, vacuum, dust, mop hardwood floors, windows, etc... They come every week and are worth every penny.
  17. What's up with all the large banner ads of rrrrr and gggggggggggggggg ggggggggggggggg on DZ.com? It takes you to dddddddd.com. What is this site? They can't possibly be paying for these ads can they? Can't figure out WTF it is and why all of a sudden there are tons of them.
  18. Didga think that was really true? .....I guess there is an Onion competitor out there.
  19. Note to self: Don't land can canopy near 747!
  20. Porpoishead, yes I am and although I found the comment somewhat offensive it did not really bother me. I totally recognize that you did not intend to be mean spirited or offensive and know that you had stated in prior posts that you did not give a shit that someone was gay. But I just chose to call out the fact that referring to someone as a pillow biter would probably make them think you are really a homophobe. Not really the term you want to use to make people feel accepted.....
  21. nobody seems to give a shit one way or the other that you are a pillow biter.*** ...I gotta say that comment probably is the type of comment that makes Chicken feel unwelcome. Nothing wrong with saying "nobody seems to give a shit one way or the other that you are gay" but substituting gay for "pillow biter" was uncalled for and offensive. You may think it was a cool and supportive post (which for the most part it was as was your prior posts) but in reality it was mean spirited. Not saying it is a big deal or that you meant it that way but I would have to say that the vast majority of gay people who read that were probably offended. If you search for all the thousands of posts on DZ.com (actually 17,928) that have "gay" in them you will find many many of them are pretty offensive. That is the kind of stuff the OP was referring to that makes him feel uncomfortable at times. Just pointing it out so you know where he is coming from.
  22. I think if you outed yourself at the dropzone you would find other gay people and you would be able to be more open around others and not worried if they would "find out". This would lead to closer relationships and more of a feeling of being "part of the family". Fuck the few people who would not jump with you if you came out to them. I think skydivers are in general very tolerant of people from a variety of backgrounds and only really care that you are a jumper too. Sure, there are a lot of jokes as there are jokes about tons of other things as well......I would just ignore them and if people knew about you, you would probably hear a lot less of them because people would find a lot of other things to joke about around the fire at night. You didn't pick the wrong sport. It is the best sport to meet people, travel, and become part of a unique worldwide brotherhood. Perhaps there will be another Rainbow Boogie (held 2 years ago in Montreal) in the future and you can meet some other queers (I say that in a nice way ) I have met 50+ gay skydivers (many on dz.com).....so believe me you are not alone.
