Buy a Wings and be done with it. Wings has a more secure main flap closure, costs less and has a much better delivery time. What's not to like? Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. I would seriously advise AGAINST posting drug and dosage information here due to patient privacy laws. If you feel you need to consult, ask the student directly for access to his/her provider. If permission is refused, then probe no further. You are not a health care professional. If you try to make a diagnosis or prognosis, you are practicing medicine without a license. The spring loaded pilot chute has been obsolete for a good while now. Very few still jump them. It's an obsolete device used to jetitison a malfunctioned main. There is no shortage of younger jumper who reject an RSL. Those who do, are, normally, very adamant about their position. Round reserves reserves are still in use at some DZ's on the student gear. I am a former competitive marathoner and triathlete. You are far more likely to become injured from running than skydiving. I have had one injury from skydiving that required serious medical attention (broken thumb that needed surgery), but have had three injuries related to running that have required surgery and long term rehab. The Gypsy Moths was the film that got me interested in skydiving. I was 8 years old and saw it on TV. (minus the bar scene) The banner jump in the opening scene just blew me away. I knew at that moment I was going to do that one day. Years later, when it came out on DVD, I bought a copy and watched it again. There is everything about skydiving in that film. The DZ culture, the fear of whuffos, the distrust of the local government and the pushing the envelope. Yeah, there are a lot of goofy things in it, but it still stands out as the only pop film to be about jumping rather than about something else with jumping as part of the story. The thing that tandems do for students who wish to progress is to acclaimate then to the environment. Freefall can be an overwhelming expirience. Those who do tandems first are better adjusted to the freefall environment. Those who do tandems first seem to have less of a tendency to freeze and brainlock. This makes for safer students.
