Your arguments are ridiculous. There is no evidence to support the argument of complexity being the result of a deity designer. Complex interactions self organize all the time without a deity. If there was some kind of omnipotent deity, its existence would be as obvious as gravity. But followers of deities always have the same problem: explaining away a shrinking god. Consider this: an omnipotent being who has the ability to will they universe into existence, over time is reduced to things like stains on tortilla shells that sort of look like an image of what a certain group of people think a proxy of this deity looked like. There is no evidence whatsoever that supports the argument that there was a first cause for the universe to come into existence. "God" does not exist. Never has, never will. A book of middle eastern dessert mythology is no substitute for a fully grounded education in ethics and reason. The ground is very hard and it affects believer and non believer alike. I support the ACLU and am a card carrying member. They do good work to protect the freedoms guaranteed in the constitution. They protect freedom of speech even when that speech is not popular. The protect the separation of church and state, despite the vast unpopularity of such a quest. They fight against the selling out of our government to the highest corporate bidder. At the DZs that I jump the exit order is always: RW groups, largest first, then smallest, Freeflyers, large to small, then tandems, the AFF. Although this seems to be the standard, I'd like to hear disscussion about why this exit order is established. I don't wish to change it, just understand the science behind it. Here's my .02 on the coach courses. (I am a USPA coach) The USPA course teaches about working at the most basic instructional levels. Those students that are off AFF but have not earned thier A's. The SDU course seems (at least from what I've been able to read and talk to Rob about) to include teaching skills that are beyond those required for an A. That being said, you must make a decision about what level you want to teach. If you intend to teach AFF, then the USPA rating is needed. (You must subsequently decide if you want the SDU rating as well) If you want to teach RW to more advanced jumpers, then the SDU rating will probably be better for you . Just a thought. Yep, the DZ down there is full of very cool people and the town is just far enough away that run to the grocery store only take about ten minutes. Also, the place is wide open for camping and stuff. I read with horror, but not surprise, the remarks of Fawell and Robertson. At this point the act of war perpetrated on last Tuesday appears to be the work of Islamic fundamentalist. Although there are many dimensions to this particular act, the overriding theme is religion. This is what happens when religion, any religion, is mixed with weapons. All religions have at least one thing in common: the belief that those who are within the faith group are "good" or "chosen" or the "people of god", or words to that effect, and those who are outside the faith group are "infidels" "cast outs" "mongrels" or something other than people. This basic tenant is what allows for fundamentalists of all stripes to commit such crimes against humanity. Until something is done about this basic issue, nothing will break the cycle of this senseless slaughter. When one group of people is able to cast another group as something other than human and, therefore, worthy of death, nothing good can come. This, despite the fact that many religions have morally positive and socially redeeming qualities, is what all religions allow the zealots among them to do. The result is strife that ranges on a scale from attacks at abortion clinics and sporting events, to attacks on subways and attacks on the scale of the New York and Washington events. The only way to break this cycle is to end the practice of religion. If there were no religious strife, there would be NOTHING to fight about. The differences in culture would be easily tolerated and more than that, celebrated. But as long as the seed of human hate is allowed to be sewn in the form of religion, there will be no end to the inhuman cruelty the world has witnessed in the last week. To be sure, this is the opening volley in this particular firefight and the worst is yet to come, this will not happen easily quickly or without great pain, but it must happen. There is no room for doctrine, of any kind, that allows for the justification for crimes against humanity. The sooner it begins, the better.
