  3. So, will you post this link for the rest of the interested ones? I don't know how to link to a thread. But anyway, the thread I was looking for is more than 100% reproduced above. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  5. I am. Just taking a break. Anyway, I found it myself. Some help you are. Are you and Chris going to Perris in January? ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  6. A while back someone (one of the post whore recidivsts, IIRC) posted a bunch of funny skydiving quotes. The thread was a great resource, and now I can't find it. If anyone remembers who posted it, I will search on their name for the thread. Thanks. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  9. www.bhphotovideo.com has good prices on the entire rebel line I go the ti because of its faster motordrive speed, which is still pretty slow. I am afraid that the g will disappoint you with its slow continuous shooting speed. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

Elgin is not too terribly far from Memphis. What is she doing for dinner? ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  11. I couldn't spend much time at the dz this weekend, so I only did 9 at the Mullins one ($11 per 14K ride, still a great deal). On Saturday night, I talked to people who had done 10-13 on Saturday alone. If they maintained that pace on Sunday, they got a hell of a deal. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  12. >>Well, now, hold on there a second. It's entirely possible that the electronics and mechanics in the Sigma lens aren't exactly the same as the electronics and mechanics in the Canon lens and that they wouldn't respond exactly the same way.
  13. Have any of you had problems with Canon Servo AI failing to autofocus on swooping jumpers? I am using a Reble Ti with Sigma 100-300 telephoto, and I have had good results with this lens and pictures of the plane. However, I have two rolls of people landing where all the shots are out of focus. I am using the Canon Sports Idiot mode. I am going to try using aperture priority to try to get more depth of focus in order to make it easier to get the subject in focus, but I had wanted to use sports mode with its larger aperture to try to blur the background more to emphasize the subject. Any tips? BTW, I really do not think it is the lens, as this lens has done a good job for me in other situations, such as taking pictures of the Mullins King Air at take-off. It is only the jumper pictures, particularly the ones with blue sky in the background, that are out of focus. Thanks. BMcD... ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  16. Why would I not want to miss something so obviously biased? Its creator is a wacko with an agenda, so I don't see why I need to listen to his drivel. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  17. >>The US is the only western industrialized country that does not have serious controls on firearms ownership. >The US has a far, far higher homicide rate than any other western industrialized country>Around 70% of US homicides involve firearms as the murder weapon. (Source - FBI). The fraction in other western nations is more like 7%. >In places where concealed carry laws are claimed to reduce crime, the crime rates are still no lower than in other western nations and the homicide rates are still way higher.
  18. Possibly, but what does that have to do with guns. I am willing to bet that there are more than 1.3 homicides per 100,000 population in Houston and Dallas that take place with no weapon at all (hands and teeth). The fact that we Americans have a culture devoid of morality does not necessarily mean that disarming the good people will make them safer. 20. >>It is your choice, provided that the courts grant you that choice. We both have an indirect say in that issue, by how we vote.
  21. >>I wonder why it is that England and the USA have almost identical rates of violent crime in all categories but one - homicide (Source, US DOJ). Only in homicide is the USA 400% ahead. How does that fit with your diversity theory? Once again, how does the homicide rate in Houston and Dallas compare with London's or Ottawa's? According to the CCW theory, London should be far more dangerous. I wonder why no-one will answer such a simple question
  22. >>There was no import duty here in the states
  23. >>does the murder rate in Houston or Dallas compare with that in London, Ottawa or Sydney? They are all large cities with an English speaking population that share a similar culture in most respects?
  24. Weimar Germany instituted registration. Nazis confiscated (the oft-heard "Hitler" quote is actually bogus - registration preceded the Nazi regime). Russians had registration. Stalin confiscated. Pol Pot did not really have registration - he just had guys go around and look through your house - if you were of an unpopular (by his definition) ethnicity and/or set of beliefs, you just got killed out behind the town with the rest of your ilk. Right here in the US, New York City had a local registration that was later used to confiscate firearms. BMcD... ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
