  1. Well, since Memphis and Whiteville are different towns, I guess I am coming from out of town. In fact, since I do not know of any Whiteville jumpers, I guess everyone is coming from out of town. However, if we do a longest trip award, we'll let you count marakech. Keep your Old Testament hidden and don't get blown up over there. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  3. CK - thanks for a most entertaining DD. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  4. ChaosKitty graced me with a most entertaining phone message, also. Because it was a number I did not recognize, I checked it in the car while I was on my third date with this girl I do not know very well. She was a little suspicious at how hard I was laughing, but man, getting a witty DD kicks ass! Thanks, CK! ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  13. I do not know enough about the 300D specifically to answer these questions. I assume it has a sync port - if so, just use a regular sync cable. A 20D definitely has a sync port. As for cycle speed, that depends on lots of things, including what you consider "fast enough." Unless you jump with a car battery, no flash is going to cycle fast enough to have fill on every shot the digi rebel is capable of taking during a skydive. 14. unbelievable by EMF I have actually been to a wedding where that was the first dance song - apparently they liked the song and had never really listened to the lyrics. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  15. Given that it will be used for fill during the day, you could get away with a powerful manual flash - after all, you know the typical flash to subject distance, and if you are a little farther away, you will just get less fill, and if you are a little closer, you will just get more fill or a balanced exposure (or an overexposed subject, but this would only happen when you were REAL close). Get one capable of tilting and swiveling so that you can mount it at your convenience rather than having to have it fire straight ahead. 550EX suggested above is a great but expensive solution - its capabilities far exceed anything you will use in freefall. You do not really want an "auto flash" because it will be difficult to mount it so that the sensor can "see" your subject, although many auto flashes also have manual controls, and in any event, any auto flash is going to be cheaper than a 550EX. Just depends who comfortable you are using manual flash and what you want to do. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  16. >>if you just get your coach rating... you volunteer>When you have multiple thousands of jumps in said discipline and are at the top echelon of your given sport and are ready to coach professional competitors, then you start a school and offer the opportunity to learn from the best for a fee.
  17. >>I spent 150 dollars and 2 lift tickets to get my coach rating to me that's not a lot of money>Why gauge them even further?
  18. I spent a great deal of money and time to get a coach rating. I think I have had three lift tickets purchased by people whom I have coached. It may have been four, but it certainly has not been five. Explain to me how deep I am in the students' pockets. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  19. Those are nice shots, man, particularly the 2 second exposure. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
  20. There is another side to that coin - I know a couple of people who spent a lot more money than that due to their failure to cut away. Brent ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

  23. My bad also, then. SDC gets "credit" for the slider down low cutaway stunt in the rumors here (Memphis), too. >>before you start tossing out insults at a DZ and the jumpers there (esp my friends), get your facts in line>This is what the RW offer means to me - there have been senseless, avoidable deaths over the course of this season. This is not a one time event as we have people jumping that get in over their head and do not follow emergency procedures. This device MAY help you live if you end up in that spot. A lot of people choose not to get the skyhook due to cost - therefore it's free if you order a rig from RW. I see nothing wrong with this.
  24. >>You used the information you remembered from your class to clear the line twists, and then to control your descent into the trees, and then to PLF. Those are 3 high-pressure situations in a row, with no chance to change your mind and go do them again.
