    Yes they paid in to the system. They also elected the past 40 years worth of officials that pilfered their contributions. You let the fox gaurd the hen house, you should be left with no hens.     I love my RRS setup. I am glad I didn't screw around with anything else and purchased it when I first started shooting stills. I should get a commision from them, a bunch of other camera fliers have moved on to RSS jaw clamps and L mounts after playing around with my helmet.

    Pretty amazing that the government of our country from when Regan was president, until Obama elected was totally free from the guiding hands of any official that wasn't a Republican? Or maybe we can be reasonable for a change and take note that both parties are taking part in selling the average citizen down the river. Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act was penned by Republicans, but who signed it in to law? Under whose administration have we had negative interest rates for the big banks, and the great QE2.     My local gunshop has a great sign. Dress code: please show some respect for yourself and remove all hoods and pull up your pants. I never knew why this was a fad.     I don't see the reason to walk away. Here and there I have some pretty meaningful exchanges with people that have completely opposite points of view. I have actually reconsidered some ideas from a different perspective from some stuff I read on here. Even if all the posts in a given day are total dogshit I can at least check out the people who can't get their point across without being deragatory.     Here's the issue . . . we don't know yet. According to a news report I found from July 11, before this all blew up on the internet, the man injured two of the officers. Then he really would have deserved his asswhooping. I don't think that is a good justification, but we will see when more information leaks out.     I agree personally, but I have long and short term disability insurance so I will get by if I get hurt. But what do you do when you are disabled by trying to help and you have nothing to fall back on. It is an interesting idea. Most accidents are someones fault. Now you don't have to jump in the mix save some one, but I think most of us would be driven to regardless of the risk to ourselves. You aren't driven to jump in to a burning car, if the driver drove straight home safely, instead of texting and driving. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

    True poverty is a terrible terrible thing. That is what we see in third world countries. You want to see poor, take a look at the looming famine in Somalia. Sometimes we get lucky, the rest of the time it looks like romper room in here with keyboards.     I am conflicted on this one... They saved her life, and sure they didn't have to do so, but their lives were changed in the process. They didn't save her with the premeditated motive of filing a law suit. They put their saftey aside to try to save her. When a fire fighter or police officer gets hurt on the job we don't cut them loose with no support. We don't tell them, well thats what you signed up for, tough shit. It is kind of a shit sandwich to tell these guys sorry you got hurt trying to save this woman, next time let her die and don't be a hero.     This explains the Congressmen and their wealthy backers. What it does not explain and what I've never understood are those people that make less than $100,000 per year that support them. Those people. to me, make absolutely no sense whatsoever since very, very little, if anything, the Republican Party currently does has any benefit to them. What difference does it make Quade? The republicans if left unchecked would cut taxes and lead us down the path of ruin. The democrats would spend their asses off, redistribute wealth from the rich and middle class to federal payrolls and welfare programs, and lead us down the path of ruin. Noticing a trend here? They are both a big shit sandwitch. At least one of them leaves me some more spending money before they stick me with high as hell future taxes to pay the bill.     No it isn't a straw man. It is relevant because 90% of Dream Dancers posts relate to taxing the rich as a solution to our problem. In a previous post I showed him with 2006 census data that a 100% tax on the top earners would not generate enough revenue to fix the deficit. I forget where the census started this bracket, but it was in the 100-200K range, and the mean of the population distribution was far from filthy rich. If a 100% tax can't generate enough tax revenue to fix the problem, then the more likely to be legislated tax rates won't do it either. If you don't reform medicare and social security we are doomed. No amount other mix of spending cuts and tax increases will make up for a failure to reform the other two. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Since the Federal government is made up of officials elected by legal voting age non felon citizens I think it is safe to say that the voting public pissed away the money. There are more possible voters that are poor and middle than rich ones, the number that actual vote is another story. The American people pissed away the money by letting this shit go on and if they didn't vote they are just as guilty. Do you really think the filthy rich broke in to the social secuirity lock box, snicker, and stole the loot? It was already gone, nothing to steal even if they tried.
