I only have 6 tandems with paying customers under my belt. I like pulling between 6.5 and 6. So far I have found that my students have the same reaction to 20 seconds of freefall as they do 30 seconds, so there is nothing in it for my them to hum it down. On the other side I think they get a lot more out of the longer canopy ride. I have more time to let them practice some canopy flight, more time to reherse the landing again, more time to point out landmarks and play tour guide. The sensory overload is less under canopy, they can take it all in! Not to mention the extra time to deal with a malfunction is worth it weight in gold! I hope 100 to 200 jumps from now I have the same attitude. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I almost spit coffee out my nose! You want your vapor ware bubblematic house value back??? Guess what, it wasn't real!!! It was an inflated price that was driven up by people like you who probably shouldn't have been in the housing market to begin with, as evidenced by the 80/20 100% no money down financing that you used to buy your condo. I bought my current house a year and a half ago, and it has went down in value during that time period, partly because of foreclosures brought on by people like you who just walked away from their bad financial choices! Where is my TARP Shah? Shouldn't I be entitled for a dollar for dollar refund in my houses decrease in value. The american way, all of the upside and none of the downside! What's fair about responsible people who didn't default or didn't sell AAA rated crap having to pay to support bailouts for greedy bankers and liar-loantakers? Look I don't disagree, I don't think it is fair either. But what do you want, compensation? The banks have repaid TARP, and they are starting now to start going after institutions that were involved in the mess. The government could sue the banks into the ground and punish them I guess, but I think you can be honest enough to admit that they will hurt all of us, not just the banks. As a taxpayer in society you get to pay for a lot of things that are directly tied to some asshole's irresponsible actions, that are in direct contrast to your responsible ones. Such is life! I don't have multiple kids out of wedlock, with no income, and expect the government to pay for it. Do you think that means that I don't pay for people that don't follow suit? I have medical insurance and I am not a junky, but my girlfriend spends all night doing 1 to 1's with junkies with state insurance because they can't stay off drugs. Do you think that is fair, when many small business owners can't even afford to buy themselves insurance, all the while they are paying for the state to support peoples fuck ups? Getting back to your house, what exactly do you want done for you and your house? I bet you liked your home's value a lot better in 2005, but tough shit, because those values were smoke vapor puppies and love. Your house has now returned to what it is really worth, well probably less than it is worth for the moment, but when the housing market stabalizes and you sell you will get exactly what you allways would have gotten which is exactly what it is worth at that moment. If you rent you don't have to worry about it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I think you are stretching the facts... The first default were subprime mortgages, people that bought houses they could never afford, and when their crazy liar, interest only loans, and ARMS reset that is exactly what happened. These people should have never bought the houses that they did, the banks never should have lent them the money, the government never should have encouraged this type of lending either. So are the banks supposed to keep people in houses they can't afford? Foreclosures now are mostly resulting from the shit economy and people losing their jobs. It absolutely sucks, but if you have no job for a long period of time you are going to run out of means to pay your mortgage. Are banks supposed to keep people in houses that they can't pay the mortgage on? They never have in the past, this isn't a new thing. If you lost your job in the 70's, didn't pay the mortgage, you would have lost your house! Lots of banks and lots of people made bad choices. Now it is time to pay for it. Others are suffering because the economy sucks. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

If people with impeccable credit were taking out ARM's instead of traditional loans then they were absolutely incompetent in financial matters. People love trashing businesses, but hating looking themselves in the mirror. I wouldn't take an ARM over a traditional mortgage even if the initial interest rate was ZERO. This is by far one of the dumbest things I have ever seen posted on this website, you win by a long shot! Your right, the US or even Global economy doesn't need lending and access to credit to keep moving. Businesses big and small have no need for credit. Individuals don't need credit in their life either. Your just pissed off because you make a shitty financial choice, you made your bed, and now you have to lie down in it. PS... credit from China was part of the bubble during which you made your great financial blunder during. This has nothing to do with American banks, and everything to do with your choice to buy a home using an 80/20 loan during a bubble market, with no money down. A responsible homeowner with no debt gets the current market value for their house. You get what your house is worth, sounds like a fair deal to me. Short sales and foreclosures are pushing down values big time, and I think the downward correction overshot a little, but a decline was in the cards for a while. Home prices in the past decade were insane and unsustainable. How can home prices go up year after year when wages are not? We are returning back to normal. What should a homeowner get anyway? Do you want to be compensated because you lost the bubble value of your house? It wasn't real to begin with, sucks you didn't get out at the right time. The government needs to get out of the realestate and home lending market! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Care to address what I wrote, or are you going to continue attacking posters, and dismissing peoples arguments as stupid without actually considering them. You would think that an academik like yourself would display a little more integrity in the way they debated things. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

That isn't even close... criminal history, age, etc are all quantified and specific criteria. If you don't meet the specified criteria that is a no brainer. You are honestly telling me that you think losing your drivers license because of a DUI is the same as being arbitarily denied a driver license despite meeting all of the state's specified requirments, and having no disqualifying characteristics, just because that county only wants to issue drivers licenses to a select chosen few? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Nice dodge! I clearly stated that you would have a big problem if pilot certificates were being issued by the states on a county by county basis, and people in certain areas were being denied certificates despite meeting all of the requirements of apptitude, health, training, and background. So you would be OK this scenario playing out for you personally: you have a valid medical, you meet the flight currency requirements, have plenty of experince, but you can't fly you plane into CA's LA county because LA is restricting county pilot licenses on a basis that is not requirement based. All the while a select few can fly in LA because they are connected. I don't expect an honest anwser from you, so keep dancing and dodging. And here we get to the crux of the issue. The state law says do A B C & D to get your CCW,. You do everything to meet A B C & D, by the letter of the law you are qualified. They deny you because of Z, which have nothing to do with the requirements set forth by the state. Z happens to be the fact that the county sherif denies all applications regardless of A B C & D, for everyone except his political buddies, oh and some of the movie stars that live there. It is about equal treatment, if you say the requirments are A B C & D then everyone should have to meet A B C & D and you should be accepted or denied based on A B C & D. I can't quote a study, but I would have to guess that if you were set on killing yourself then not having a gun wouldn't be a huge impedement to pulling it off. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Fail. There is no right to a pilot's license. You have to earn one. Says you, I'll mark it down as a win. If "earning" a pilots license had an approval requirement that wasn't apptitude and fitness based, and instead required you to have connections you would squeel like a stuck pig. If the states issued pilot licenses and there was a CA county that was restricting licenses, just because they were anti GA, for otherwise qualified pilots it would be waterworks at the Prefessers residence. If you panic or can't control yourself, probably so. I don't see that "real combat training" is a necessity in these situations, though. 5-10 ft is still 5-10 ft and if you can't hit a target, moving or not, from 5-10 ft....sell the weapons to someone else. Are you and Kelp making excuses for the guy? Really? So, he had the balls to fire back. Good for him! That doesn't excuse the inability to hit a target 5-10 ft away! I'd be embarrassed to let anyone know I shot and missed from 5-10 ft? A platoon leader would have probably shot YOU in the back if he thought you couldn't do any better than that. I guess you have never seen footage of police gunfights where they fire multiple shots and none of them hit their target. But I won't argue with you since you are obviously posting with past gunfight experince, and are a respected instructor in the self defense field. Look out Massad Ayoob, here comes Popsjumper! Now your just being ignorant and refusing to read what I have already wrote. When a business pays a worker they take that as a deduction. So no, a corporation doesn't pay income tax on the amounts that they pay their workers. I really enjoy that you have taken basic accounting and tax concepts and turned them into some sort of a partisan issue. Go find some democrat CPA's they will be happy to explain that you are WRONG!
