I know a lot of dealers talk about ranking manufacturers in upper and lower tiers. I was told for instance that Vectors and Jav's are in the upper teir. This seems to agree with pricing and options as well. Where is aerodyne in the shake down? I jump Icons right now and I love them, I love the pilot as well. It obviously is safe gear, but I haven't jumped enough gear to step back and compare it to the other makes. In my mind it is the tits compared to my student gear. I am in a college club and we didn't go crazy with a waiver, although I think there is some mention in the bylaws. Go ahead a sue me for all of my assets... *snicker*. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I bought a Altitrack the other day as well. I love it so far, but 5 jumps is far from a full evaluation. I lent it to some one for night jumps who said the back light was great, and being able to play back my jumps seems to impress every one else, even though I think it is less than usefull. It appears to read high on the ride to alt, but once at alt it is comparable to all the other altimeters zero'd at the same place. I don't like that it self zeros however. It is cool to see where the device thinks you finally stoped the FF. 3500 container opening, plus a pilot snivel master 188, puts me at

The canopy might already be at the end of its life. When I was looking at buying a rig with a pd190 I read a lot of posts, and called pd myself. I was told that a little bit of abuse, like packing in whet grass, could ruin the canopy in short order. The canopy I was looking at had 200 jumps on it, and they tried to steer me away from it. They knew I wasn't going to buy a new canopy from them so I took their advice to heart. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/safety/detail_page.cgi?ID=543 "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I wish I could fall that slow. LOL When I was in AFF I was averagin 130+ lol. Now I am down to an average of 120 if I don't start doing stuff like flips. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

It needs repeating 25 times, lol: but try to relax. Fast is slow, smooth is fast. The less tense you are the better your arch, they less your going to be imitating a flying piece of plywood. You will get it I promise!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Don't worry about it Corey. You will get it. Just relax!!! I had the worst time for my first couple of jumps in AFF because I wanted to do EVERYTHING perfectly. Don't be hard on yourself at all, you are going to hit a point where the relaxation and the feeling in the air is going to click. You aren't going to become a skygod over night, but once you reach that point you won't be fighting yourself with stress. All that matters is you land safely and you don't kill any one. All the stuff in between is gravy. If I can get licensed you can too. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I had to do one wicked fast downwinder. I happen to PLF and roll very well from years of being a practice dummy on various football teams. The only way I prepared for it was having the mindset that I don't mind to tumble. If don't feel like a landing is going well I would rather look like a fool, than feel like a fool and break a leg. I think it would be a good alternative to hire a pilot with his own plane, who maintains it himself. Obviously you have to make him a partner, and give him a cut of the profits, but you have less overhead, and less risk of being sol if the engine in the plane goes. Once you build a client base, and you are sure the business isn't going to fold you can invest capital in a plane of your own. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
If at all possible I would incorporate to shield yourself from liability. Better to just loose the investment in the business, than to loose everything you own. Don't mix money, the business accounts are just that. Don't pay anything from your accounts, once you do you blurr the lines as to what is yours and what is the companies. Hey Corey, yeah I remember meeting you. The rest of the Uconn crew is going to be up there on Sunday. I was going to head up for the whole weekend but I think I am going to be jumping on saturday @ Danielson, and sitting down for some instructions with our Jump Pilot to get signed off for my A. Are you any closer to that A license? Jump town is supposed to have night jumps on friday right? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
So in other words you will offer coverage to skydivers, but NOT skydiving accidents, which is something that the original posters is looking for. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

This thread makes me want to make a round jump once I have more time and experince in the sport. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I HOPPED- My shirt POPPED. is all good.
DougH replied to airtimebabe24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am suprised by, not critical of, the fact that they let you jump without a jump suit. At my DZ us students are required to wear full gear until we get an A license. There were some hot arsed hop and pops that I would have loved to not be wearing my jump suit!!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Beer for an AFF level one is a little extreme in my opinion. At that point it ceases being a teaching and policing tool, or am I wrong. Now if you do something dangerous or stupid on an AFF jump, buy your beer. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I have been to Jump Town three times now, but this monday (open because it was a holiday) I finally got to jump from their Otter. It is an awesome drop zone. Diane and Shiella do an awesome job running manifest, and they are extremely friendly!!! The facilities are absolutely amazing, and the landing area is to die for! I rented an alti II this weekend, but I normally jump a glow face alti III. The alti two did seem extra bulky, but it had a wrist strap instead of being straped on the back of my hand like I am used too. Personally I love the alti III's that I have been using. They fit perfectly on the back of my hand. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Bump to the top. I would buy a handful of these shirts!!!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I have had enough fun trying to get the pilot 168 into the used Icon I5 that I purchased, and the ZP isn't even new. Good luck. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Need to know if im getting a good deal...... PLEASE!
DougH replied to craig00025's topic in Gear and Rigging
4000 is too high. I just purchased a icon, pilot, smart, cypress two package used with 100 jumps, for 3500 and I might have been able to do better if I kept looking. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Which bonehead? I have a large unused boomerang that I haven't decided if I want to keep or not. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I jumped a hornet 210 all the way through AFF, loaded at just under 1:1. I love the canopy, it has soft but consistent openings, it opens on heading if you have good body position. It only had line twists once for me, but that was the result of a spin that I pulled in. The zp is easy to pack. It has a good flare. At my wing loading it was responsive but docile when given slow inputs down low. I jump a pilot 188 now, and I definetly don't mind when I have to take up the hornet 210, it really is a great canopy. Most fun you can have on a solo...
DougH replied to Yossarian's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
On my solo jumps that I am playing, and not strictly practicing tracking or some other skill, I play with different exits. Nothing makes me happier than tucking into a ball and just falling away in a tight tumble, or exiting back to earth and watching the plane fly away. It is ALL fun!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
I can't decide if every one was bored when I graduated AFF or if I hung around enough that they felt it was fitting, but I got a face full of "pie" on my graduating hop n' pop. Unfortunately the pie was shaving creme, and it was in my sinuses for about a week. http://funskydiving.com/videos/show_video.php?video=douggraduation.swf "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
