    Call me crazy, or wrong, but I thought that A license jumpers must initiate container openings by 3k feet. This isn't to say that I sometimes pitch **ever so slightly** lower than that, but it seems weird if I am exiting where I am supposed to be pitching.     Try working in a chain supermarket around the holidays, with brain washing music pumped in from the mothership. The day after halloween the X-mas music would start, really really bad x-mas music.     Is this accross the pond speak for a lunch break, because if it is I am totally using this around the office. Best of luck getting through your student status. I remember how hard it was to sit on the ground when others were jumping. Now I have so many opportunities to jump that I sit down and just enjoy the ground when the conditions suck.     i'm not sure what that means since i'm still new to this sport. does that mean that i owe you a bottle of crown? The custom is that you owe your rigger a bottle of his choice if you use your reserve and it functions properly and saves your life.     I bought my rig used, and went for price instead of looks, but the purple and green is growing on me.     See if you can try out the freefly handle before you decide to purchase one. I don't like the feel of them but I am not a freeflyer. On the other hand a lot of the freeflyers at the drop zones I jump at don't like them either, and feel that a hackey and a properly packed PC is perfectly safe.     Your right, less ground speed, which is part of the reason why we have to leave more time for proper seperation. That still supports the case that if the uppers call for 14 seconds people shouldn't be screaming at you for counting past eight. I am confident in my accuracy, so I have confidence landing off field. I fly belly in groups so I am some of the first out the door, I am not asking for the go around. You can't fault me for giving the proper delay determined by the staff and conditions. If I take too long in the door I can be corrected on the ground, if I take to little time in the door I might hit and kill some one or myself, and the learning would then cease. For the record I have yet to be told I am taking to long in the door. I don't think I am taking the wrong, or unsafe stance, but this thread definetly has a had a lot of great info in it!!!     It will never replace your instructors, but A Canopy and its Pilot is an excellent book about canopy flight. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
