Benefits to holding a USPA license?
DougH replied to matt1215's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Because you don't need to spend 25 dollars. You can get a stamped A license application that proves that you have the necessary training without ever needing to send it to the USPA. I never sent in for an A license number, but I still had an A license. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -

I thought it was a USPA rule that only coaches and ratings holders could jump with students? I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to finish up and get your license? If they already let you jump with people that aren't coaches simply get some one to videotape your swoop and docks, and your check dive. Do they let you jump with people at these drop zones that aren't a coach or an instructor? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
I understand why, but depending on where you jump that is pretty tough. 40 jumps on rentals after AFF can run you a tab of over a thousand dollars. I felt that for me the thousand dollars was better used on newer used gear. If I spent 40 jumps renting I wouldn't have been able to afford something that is freefly friendly, with a 2 year old AAD, and a nice main. My openings are sometimes offheading, more now then when I first started jumping it. I think there might be some connection with line trim. My brake lines have shrunk up a fair amount, it wouldn't surprise me if the canopy is starting to get a little out of trim. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

DirtyLowPull.com presents . . .

Looks cool, what music did you use? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Glad to see that he is flying a camera, when he can't even handle a simple controllability check. You mentioned he had 40 jumps at the time??? Brilliant!!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Did you put it on your credit card? I don't care how good the product is, after a while I file a dispute and let them deal with it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Is this photo from your friend who injured himself? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Is that a rhetorical question? Or are you just being argumentative?? A canopy doesn't normally triple its descent rate without having some sort of a structural problem!!! Look up at your canopy once you are out of a collision course with other jumpers!!! Do controllability check, they taught us that in the FJC for a reason!! The jumper described above had multiple broken lines!! He might have missed them visually, but a practice flare or two would have made the problem clear. A jumper doesn't need to know the exact rate that their canopy descends at, but they should know how their canopy feels when it flares and flies. For our pilots birthday we got him a small foam RC jump plane. It has a bombbay that drops three little round jumpers!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Yes, I'm always learning. Why do you ask? If you have some point you would like to make, just be out with it. (P.S. You could look at my profile info and find out immediately, without having to ask and await a reply.) Smart ass!!!! I was trying to ask Autoset the question, but apparently my posting skills are just slightly more evolved then a one armed retarded orangutan. Autoset my honest question is that you shouldn't be on here posting these questions. You are either a student or you have yet to skydive. If you don't have a starting point of information about skydiving then none of this information about obscure scenarios is going to help. Sit through a first jump course and listen to your instructors. It is the basic info that is going to keep you safe. Worry about the basics first, they are what keep you out of the preventable situation you describe above. Go ask your instructors!!!!! If you can't convince them that the level of risk is reasonable, get their lawyers to draft up a waiver releasing the university from any liability. Also tell them about collegiates and the fact that skydiving can be a varsity sport of sorts. That is what we did for UConn's club... www.uconnskydiving.edu "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I have one helmet, and FS is my normal jump, so I use what I got. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Mine has about 250 jumps on it now, and it is still a bitch to pack. But I love my pilot 168, it is well worth the packing effort.

LMAO... I loved that part of the B exam!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I own a Boomerang... I bought it "used" because of the price, but I am very happy with it. It had been sitting in this guys basement unused. I have never had a real need to flip the visor up, it has excellent visibility, and doesn't fog up much. I don't freefly much, just a handful of sitflying jumps, but it has been very secure on those jumps. The only time I have come close to losing it was when some one kicked me hard in the back of the head on a rw jump gone bad. How does that affect your track? It looks interesting. My tony suit has an inflatable inner bladder in each bootie. When I stick my legs out they fill with air. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

In collegiates we were: team incoherent... Not because of drugs or alcohol, but because I have this amazing ability to forget dive flows mid way through the jump. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Dirty low pullers? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Send him back... we have enough problems as it is!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

From above: "and with no pin on the end". Wouldn't a flexible supple line, instead of a stiff pin, seems like it would be less likely to be pushed out when it is pressed against an airplane bulkhead? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Exactly what is your point? Just like in skiing, bmx, and cycling; more speed, bigger engines, and bigger jumps mean bigger wrecks and bigger injuries. The fact that people get hurt regardless isn't an argument won against being conservative. Imagine what would have happened if that jumper was flying a smaller full elliptical instead of that navigator 200. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

You two are killing me. My girlfriend wants to know why I am laughing so hard!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
