When did you stop being nervous?

It never left. I was truly nervous and scared of dying on my first tandem jump. On that jump I was also scared of not getting everything right and having my TI disapprove. In AFF I was nervous that I wouldn't completely nail my TLO's, and I was nervous that I might prove to be a clueless sky diver. I wanted to be the star student and do exceptionally well. Now I sometimes get nervous that I will hose the dive, or I will forget my slot. I am sure it will never leave, but I wish I could pick something else to get nervous about, because it doesn't help with the mind lock at all. You forgot to add that the passengers were screaming and filled with absolute terror. F for execution, F for originality. I want to face something I could fight till the end. Getting caught in some type of disaster, getting stranded in some strange situation, maybe even going in. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I agree it is way easier to train some one to steal a tanker loaded with fertilizer and drive it into the Holland tunnel. There are a million better ways to protect us from attacks, but our government wouldn't let common sense get in the way of bureaucracy. I wish I could get that feeling back. The feeling of sitting cocked in the doorway of the 206 looking out wondering what the hell I was doing up there anyway. I have trouble describing it in words!!! I fully understand the world of pain, or the after life of pain, that I would be in with a uninstalled or partially installed slider!!! I will take your advice and try the slocks first though.

I have been interested in learning some sewing skills. I figure in this sport it could come in handy. Aside from a class at a local community college, or a apprenticeship under a rigger, what does a person need to start learning how to sew? What type of an investment is needed for a level of sewing machine that could sew jumpsuits, and other non critical items? What are the brand and models that some one should be looking for to start on something like a gear bag, or a jump suit. A sewing for dummies primer would be awesome!!! While amusing, chuckle chuckle, that doesn't answer his question: "does the canopy fly differently when wet?". I have gone through rainy conditions twice and I didn't notice any difference in stability, glide, or flare on landing even with the canopy considerably wet. I am curious about this answer also. I pack for myself 85% of the time any way, and when I use a packer I already set the brakes, uncollapse the slider, and restow the pilot chute. Or does it quarter in the packjob differently?
