I have seen Neptune's register wrong altitudes, randomly lose back light, and display some really weird shit. Turning off is not the common failure mode as far as I am concerned. You are right about the people that fail to maintain them though, I just don't get it??? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Come on!!! This shit is simpler than a reserve handle, I would hope that skydivers would be able to figure the backlight out!!! Unless your units is broken the backlight is a piece of cake to use, and works great. Tap the right access button and let it go, do not hold. This is on the side of the unit, the one closest to the finger mount velcro. The access led will then flash green, at this point you hold the right access button until the access light is a steady green (not just a blink) and release. Tt is now in a mode that will turn on or turn off the back light, a tap of the right access button turns it on, another tap turns it off. Does any one need instructions on how to read the dial face? SAS... and by sub 100 I mean as low as 65mph!! This was split between some otter jumps, and some 182 jumps. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Awesome video! Meeting them in the middle of the swamp/woods is the best part. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I was wondering if any one has experienced a certain problem with their Altitrack. For 78 jumps it has been rock solid, and I love the hell out of the thing. For the past four jumps a small glitch has appeared. When you check out the log entry for the past jump it shows an unattainable minimum speed. Sub 100, and way way slower than my track. My only guess is that it is recording the snivel as part of my freefall. What doesn't make sense to me is why it would do that four times in a row. The previous 78 jumps were done on the same canopy, same style opening, and same packing technique. Any ideas? I am going to try and send L&B an email to see what they think! Agreed. To the OP: Cut the apron strings and stop trying to convince your parents, or anyone else, of anything. You don't need their approval. Stop trying to explain. They will never understand. Ever. You want to jump? Shut up and jump. My guess is that the OP still derives a good deal of financial support from his parents. I don't know many 19yo's who are paying their own rent, and schooling, without their parents help. I could be wrong, but if his parents are paying for him to eat, and keeping a roof over his head, then I could see them not approving with his using his "discretionary" income for fun. If they aren't providing your support than grow up and jump!!! Otherwise tough noogies!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

What is it about drop zones, and stupid drunk human tricks. I think I electric star'd a tear into my rotator cuff, and a heart murmur to boot. Happy newyear everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Along the same school of thought I learned on a hornet, at a modest wingloading. It was the perfect starting point for when I transitioned to smaller pilots. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

How do I get over being afraid to jump my own pack job?
DougH replied to dweeb's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Shhhhh don't tell the FAA that, unless of course some one with riggers tickets was standing behind you. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
My parents place resembles a bad godfather sequel more and more every time I come home. It was great when I grew up. But now all the obnoxious people from NY have invaded... "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

This brings up a good point to consider. Just because you can't jump for a while doesn't mean you can just forget about skydiving. ...You will be much safer in the spring. I was thinking more about the learning curve, then I was saftey. Granted you fly with more students than I do since your an instructor, but as a jumper who was just recently a student, I think it is important to keep those first 25 or 50 jumps happening regularly. There is a big difference with some one who has 1000 jumps taking a three month break, compared to some one with 8 or 9. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

If you can't jump at your local DZ right now, what are you going to do once you complete AFF and have to head back home? Seems like a waste to spend all that money to do AFF now, and then be unable to jump for several months until your season starts back up. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
I think the best place for you to do AFF is the drop zone you plan on jumping at regularly for the next year or so, even if that means you are going to have to wait for the season to start. You are going to build your first relationships in the sport there, especially with the instructors and very experinced jumpers that you are going to rely on for advice and mentoring. I think there is more to the student progression than simply getting signed off. Otherwise, proximity to a tunnel would be very helpful. The age old question that must be answered.Why...

I make myself gag some times.... this question is flawed (or maybe my ass is flawed)!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -

Being told NOT to check the spot!
DougH replied to hjumper33's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We are adults, we don't need the USPA to do that, especially when a good healthy "F*** Off" gets the point across. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Well my rig barely fits my 168, when packed real tight into the DBag. I would definetly have to find an older container that was much bigger, because I think it would be pretty stupid for me to step down two sizes from the 168!!! Thanks for the responses. Better living through chemistry. I can have teeth pulled without novicane... But I realized that I am not winning any medals for being a tough guy so now I ask for the nitrous even for inspections. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

A quick newb question. Do CReW canopies pack larger then their other skydiving counter parts? I guess it depends on the extras that they are equiped with. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

A breed is only a scary as the training it receives, or hasn't received. My uncle has Bull Mastiffs were fine around his 6 month old son. They treated the baby like their own, no strangers near the baby!!! I have also seen people with a Golden retriever that I wouldn't get near without having a baseball bat. It is all in how you train the dog. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

All the ones I have seen did. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

It looks like they would have come in hard regardless of where her legs are? Could just be the way the video looks though. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

She totally eats shiet on landing!!! But I love the video... it looks like she was having an awesome time!!!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
