You would be right, if you're comparing it to the opening you would get by doing nothing at all. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

*sniff* *sniff* Does any one smell a lawyer? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
When I pack my friends saber 2 I do nothing to the nose, I let it stay where it is hanging after I let go of it with my knees. I don't think the manual call for any rolling or stuffing. If you are taking the center try to stick to the plan. When I am shooting video and I take the center I ensure that I am pulling on time unless some one is on top of me. It is important that every one else is tracking, and that you give a good wave off, and that you ensure that no one is above you. However I think the 360 is over kill and if you end up pulling around the same level as every one because you wasted time you are reducing speration and putting the other jumpers at risk if some one has an off heading opening. Personal I think you should be tracking with every one else if it is a small jump and your not shooting video. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Is that a football style neckbrace? It looks like it shouldn't restrict your range of motion too much. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I don't find it hard to believe that you easily burnt up 1000+ feet before you took the center. Knowing other new jumpers, and how I was at 50 jumps am invisioning something like this: oh every on is tracking... (by this point 4k came and went) lets do a 360... (by this point 3.5k came and went) ok let me wave (hello 3k, good bye 3k) Then you pitch and get a 700 foot opening and wonder why you are so low. Since we don't know how you are packing it, it would be pretty tuff to determine if your packjobs are the problem, all over the internet. Are you pushing the nose deep into the pack job, pulling most the of the slider towards the nose, how many rolls on the tail? Winnnnner!!! Haaaa "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I think those were his exact words when I fell down and pretended to have passed out... "Get up I haven't killed any one yet..." I can't remember if he kicked me or not while I was down there. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I been one of the drunken participants in a 2 way. It was a face off to see who would let go first, but the plug was pulled, and we probably were to screwed up to let go anyway. Other then sore shoulders the next day I felt great, and it didn't kill the coked up old dude either, so it can't be that horible for you. Maybe I am just sick, but the best part is when you are holding up one end and the guy on the other end is some you you know. Reach accross and touch them when they aren't paying attention. Not this again. I will be right back, I am going to get my popcorn! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I am no rigger but 24 inch zp doesn't sound like it is big enough to be causing your problems, I have been jumping a 28' zp pilot chute with canopies sized from 170-132 with no problem for over 400 jumps. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I am interested to see if it is actually a 130 reserve. If it is a d3, which holds around a 190 main, then the container should be sized for a 170 reserve. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

What do you budget to attend a boogie?
DougH replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am going out to Eloy for the holiday boogie. Airline tickets were 330 dollars. I am hoping to find a ride over there from the airport. I will cover the gas but not having a taxi fee will be nice. I have a rv to crash in for some of the time so that will cut costs a lot. At least 50 jumps, but I figure some of them will be novelty jumps like a ballon ride so maybe 1500 dollars for jumps. 500 dollars incidentals. Shit I am going on a trip I can't afford. I had to turn to private borrowers to pay for my college degree and now I am about 50,000 dollars in the hole. Yipeeeee! I was just wondering if there was any one else on here that had any experince in consolidating their own private loans. Consolidating federal loans is a piece of cake but there is much less info on consolidating the private ones. A search on yahoo nets a bunch of questionable looking lenders who apear to be around to suck you into a high interest rate loan. My monthly payements right now are 600 dollars a month for a loan over 15 years. It would be nice to pay them off that soon, but right now I am giving away most of my paycheck and it isn't leaving me with much. When you land in a tree, off the dz, while on a night jump you tend to stay up there longer. Especially if it is a tall tree that requires climbing gear!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

What size pilot chute? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Sounds like the way a heatwave opens to me. They aren't known for being snivelly gentle canopies!! But they get worse when they are out of trim, the poster before me may be on to something with the question about the line trim! The one I jumped opened hard, and my own PISA Hornet opened hard too. I cured it by rolling the four outer nose cells on each side and then stuffing that into the nose. That and pulling the slider out a bit makes it snivel like a pilot. YMMV! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I love aerodyne gear, and I think the pilot is one of the best begginer and intermediate canopies available but I don't know if they have pilots that go up to a size that will be appropriate for your geared up weight. At 260 the have the solo, their student canopy, but no pilot that large that I know of. If you want more info I would suggest you contact aerodyne... their contact info is on their website: www.flyaerodyne.com . Make sure you talk with your instructors as well, they should know how your canopy skills are progressing and will have a better idea of what you are ready for, and what your are not ready for. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I think it depends on the canopy. When I first got my hornet 170 it had around 150? jumps or so. It was opening like a lightening bolt so the slider was flying down the lines at light speed. It is severly out of trim now with only 350 jumps. I measured it, scary out of trim. I think if it was packed to open more slowly it would have experinced a lot less shrink in the spectra lines. Just a hunch. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

2007 Collegiate National Skydiving Championships

Pickup teams are fine. All you need is a college transcript, and not hit all three out of three disqualification points. (age: 25?, jumps 1000, years in the sport 5?) "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
You will go through a bunch of linesets before the fabric finally quits. I know of one heatwave made with the same stuff that is well over 1500 jumps. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

The later year hornets had bigger sliders installed from the factory to cure the openings. It is also not uncommon to find earlier canopies with home made pocket sliders, etc. It is completely possible to get an earlier model to have great openings. Mine was whacking the shit out of me until I figured out the way that it packed best. Eventually the method evolved into rolling the four nose cells on either side of the center cell and stuffing them in. I could they fine tune it even more with slider placement. I have almost 200 jumps on it packed in this manner. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
