Hmmm your branch of christianity sure seems to be lacking in so many of the christlike virtues.... like foregiveness...humility....etc. Go take the place of those two girls then you can dole out all the forgiveness you want! 9 months ago? It may be her first post, and it may be biased, but I doubt she saw this post coming in November 2007. I missed that. I just saw the one post and jumped to conclusions, I still stand by the rest of my post. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I'm an Oldie - Why I'm Disappointed

If only your tent didn't get bitch slapped by that thunder storm it could have been a perfect weekend. So when are you coming back to visit? =P "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -

I am very selective about who I bring my rig to, and now I pack it myself under supervision, so I wouldn't find myself in this situation. That being said if I dropped off my rig at some ones house who was supposed to be a rigger who then did their damndest to avoid proper communication with me and when I showed up to pick up the rig it was just lying around the house, I would likely suspect that the damadge resulted from a similar act of neglect. Me thinks thou doust protest too much. Of course I am sure your post isn't biased or motivated in anyway, considering you signed up on this site only to reply to this thread. I have replaced the batteries after the two events, but I haven't had a chance to test the backlight with the new batteries yet. That was once of my theories, I will report back if it fixes the issue. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I thought I would bring this post back up to the top... Twice I have stuck my VISO in my jumpsuit pocket in the past month. I would have stuck an inop sticker on it, but I was flat out of those. It has allways been on the sunset load, with the backlight turned on. During climb the unit gets stuck at around 550 feet and dances around 590 to 510 while we are actually well over that altitude. I can't remember if I turned the backlight on during the ground or during climb, but I think at least one time was on the ground. Maybe 50/50. I am going to contact L&B as they are great with customer service. Mads actually sent me this Viso at a large discount after my original one fell off in freefall. Unfortunately the original one never displayed this problem, despite liberal backlight usage. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

That might suck a little since I have moved from a trade that I perform with my hands, to one that is performed with my credentials and knowledge. I think I would adjust and even thrive, I would just need to figure out the right angle. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I doubt that he was claiming that JohnRich. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Please pay attention Skittles. We are not talking about tandem jumps that are used as a teaching method, we are talking about tandems that are conduct purely for entertainment purposes. The TI can not judge altitude awareness if the student has no altimeter and no RC. The TI can not judge response to signals if the students isn't taught any. Face it, the closest many tandems get to actual instruction is "bannana bannana". "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Are you fat asses going to pay a surcharge for all the extra fuel it is going to take to deliver that flying brick shit house to altitude? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Is Wingnut the dc area jumper with the big ears? If he is tell him the UConn Skydiving team alumni says happy birthday? If he isn't, which makes makes me wonder if each dz has their own Wingnut, wish him happy birthday for me any way. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

They aren't bad... unless you are the aircraft owner. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I object to this description of tandem skydiving. A lot of jumpers object to tandems being conducted in this manner. So where do you define where it cross the line of being a method of instruction, or a thrill ride. If the student gets minimal instruction before the jump, no altimeter, no ripcord to pull, doesn't get to fly the canopy or just gets to yank on the toggles a bit with little to no instruction about why, then I would say it is nothing more than a thrill ride. I think most tandems are just fine with this, but they often don't have any choice. I don't see the point in offering "student jumps", if you don't want to provide a service to what students grow into... skydivers; it is a farce. If you offer tandems, but not experinced jumps, then you are 100% offering a thrill ride and nothing more. Fair is fair I guess, Six Flags won't normally teach you how to run the roller coaster either. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Holy Gorillas!--Known World Population Nearly Doubled with Recent Discovery
DougH replied to PLFXpert's topic in The Bonfire
I know what you mean. I find it difficult to believe what some people do to their own species, no less ones unlike their own. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -

On the edge, and they will be pushed over it for the sake of making charcoal. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Maybe that is what skydiving is all about... for you. Every one has their own belief about what the sport is all about. I spent my first 200 jumps totally immersed in skydiving. I slept more on the dz couch or curled up by the embers of the bonfire than I did in my own apartment that first summer. If it wasn't for the community that I felt existed, the people, the atmosphere then I wouldn't have been as hooked as I was. Now two years later that first DZ has changed a lot, but I found another one with that same feel. Does this make my idea of what skydiving is any more valid than yours, no I guess not, but I sure hope more people agree with me.

Your just pissed because your girlfriend said we were that good, and then some. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

To each their own, but I think there is a lot more to skydiving than just falling out of a plane. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
I had a mother and daugher show up while I was manifesting at my club this weekend. The mother had a photo from when she landed her static lined round into that same exact field almost 30 years ago. She was the coolest tandem student on that drop zone, and despite her daughters blushing I made sure to tell her that. Of course having a cute redhead daughter never hurts in the cool department but I doubt I could have convinced many of those other tandems to skip the joyride to do a S/L, even if I lowered the price and bumped them to the front of the line. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Yes, your right. I should have said B qualified. I still am carrying around my applications for my C & D. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Pilot chute in tow or horseshoe mals - fix problem or cutaway ?
DougH replied to sky_rat's topic in Safety and Training
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! How many pilot chute in tows have resulted from properly mantained equipment (good condition kill line of proper length, burr free pin, proper sized and manf. pilot chute, proper closing loop length) combined with proper operation (cocked pilot chute and properly routed bridle). My rehersed plan is to try to manually clear it one time, then go straight to reserve. Cutaway isn't in my procedures because I am low and fast, and I already burnt time trying to clear it once. I can deal with a two out if that happens as a result. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
How many jumps do you have? The right anwser might be none, at least for the time being. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
