I made a bet with a friend on Facebook that there could be an intelligent technical discussion in this forum. He bet there could not be. I lose. I was "wrong" to think this forum could achieve something outside of pitching product, bitching and brandwars.

"person" would imply "one other" in your group. Method is going to vary for flocks, backflying, large groups, small groups, position in groups...ergo the concept of "one." Charley...there's your answer per another thread.

Another thought, GP.... With the tandem, you get to experience flying 5 way RW with others. As a student, you're quite a long ways from experiencing this...so you're getting to share your air-joy with your friends right now; instant gratification. We've talked about how you want whatever you want NOW!! Well..., tandems are providing you that opportunity. No stress, no mess, and you're having fun. Soloing isn't for everyone. There are a number of "professional tandem skydivers" and even a competitor out there...

Seems a shame that with rocket scientists, surgeons, computer programmers, and unemployed trailer trash, only Butters has the ability to actually answer. FWIW, I know what I do, I know what I teach for various scenarios, just curious about what others do or teach. Gerhard alluded to one method I teach up above. Take a specific if it helps? The person you're flying with is above and 50' forward.

Yes...they are. Three for us. Two of em' came sporting bright red suits. One of them had a brand new Stealth. None got on the planes, none stuck around long.

I promise not to hug my balls if you don't.

US Performance Competition - Acro Invitational (November 2011)

Tom, Please get here early. I may have trouble keeping Jarno away from the Hideaway bar, and don't have a stable to keep him and his drunk-ass pony in check. -
No reputation-ruining stories here, but she still owes me a spanking. She promised it over 3 years ago.

Of course you're right. I was caught up in the concept of wingsuits flying up. Fine....how about "how do you reduce your fall rate when you are below the group, with the goal of restoring your position in a formation?" Now that you've started the requisite thread drift, let the arguing about weights, exits, big suits, flying 180 to the formation, brand wars, fucking your friend's sister, ghey behavior, bent knees, float vs speed, slow flight, fast flocks, fat fuckers, tall thin asshats, and the price of rice in China commence.... meanwhile, I'm gonna climb relative to my mates. I wonder how you do it.

Curious who is doing what for archiving, if any at all?

How can you be "letting yourself down?" You're having a great time, you're part of the DZ culture, you know you're not going to be hurt, there is no pressure to perform, people want to jump with you as a tandem, youv'e got tandem instructors wanting to take you, you finish the jump safely, with a big smile and you giggle every time you talk about the jump. The TI's enjoy the jump too, because they're dealing with someone experienced at both ends of the spectrum, and the jump is somewhat out of the norm for them (5 way RW is really fun for them, too!) How on earth can that be a let down? It's great to see you bouncy after a tandem jump!!

Do you use your hips? Do you "hug the beach ball?" Other?

The rental rigs I had hurt like hell. I used oven mitts to mitigate the pain. Some of it is just your muscles not being familiar with this use. Some of it is that the straps are made to be tough. Purchased rigs are usually very different.

Yep. The issue as I see it is not the right of artists to use their artistic freedom to alter their own works or update them. They can do that if they want. What I find distasteful is the altering of a work because of political correctness. Would people prefer that "Huck Finn" be altered to remove the character Nigger Jim, or should we leave it as is so that future generations will be able to understand what things were like at that time in history? Should we re-write "Catcher in the Rye" to clean it up without all that sex, cussing, smoking and drinking? Should we leave Milton's "Paradise Lost" as is so that we can appreciate a 350-year-old classic poem, or should we update it for the 21st century and insert lots of dragons, magic crystals and kung-fu fighting? Give Mickey Mouse back his shotgun, and leave history alone. If the original author of "Paradise Lost," "Huckleberry Finn," etc want to change their books to reflect current times...great. But those books were social commentaries on society at the time. Mickey Mouse is a living, breathing entity and if his owners want to reflect current social attitudes...it's well within their right. As Paul said...someone at Disney decided that seeing Mickey with a broom is a lot more sellable to children today, than Mickey with a shotgun. Personally, I think we should allow kids to see the drawings of Pompeii in their original forms too. But these are banned already. So is this one. But historically, they're significant, and as entertaining as Mickey Mouse...

Ted constantly called me "Junior." When he asked me to shoot the Pioneers of Sport Parachuting jumps both in Utah and Elsinore, both times he made comments of "We'll take care of you, Junior." Ted taught a lot of people a lot of things, and although he was a very busy man, he always seemed to have the time to talk when it came to exchanging ideas and opinions. I'm sure there is no way of measuring the influence he's had on our sport and military systems. I want to remember Ted this way. There are some edited-out scenes, but it was wonderful to see him laugh so hard when this reserve popped out as he was showing me how the system check worked. He couldn't speak for a few minutes. I didn't know him nearly as well as many, but the few projects we worked on for him were amongst my favorites. My condolences to Marcie and family.

Capital One ad (Who is it and who took it?)
DSE replied to freefalljason's topic in Photography and Video
FWIW, I've had my photo on my credit card for a few years. When people ask for ID, I point out that it's me on the card. -
What formations have you been in which demonstrate greater forward performance than earlier formations in wingsuiting?
-
The adhesive mounts have provent to be the "standard" method. I've seen one guy with nylon screws holding the base to the helmet, and it was very well thought out, implemented, and sensible, IMO.
-
There is always eBay for the 100's and 110's...I've purchased several there.
-
Disagree. "Don't fucking jump that suit without proper training" would seem to be more important than giving advice about exits or flight path or leg straps to the hypothetical individual in the OP. Holy cow, John....that's at least three things we've agreed on! Hell is indeed freezing over.

I just want to blow this theory away so that people can understand not everything you say is accurate and is mostly an assumption, at least in regards to Wicked Wingsuits. Rentabilities.com is a company I originally worked with to develop a CRM solution for WW. It didn't really work out because they were aimed more at traditional rentals but hey wanted to work with us in the future. This is an extract from a letter from their CEO: "Wanted to reach out to you with an update. We are almost done closing our round of financing and we expect the software we talked about to be ready soon. I have a question for you. Do you have photos (and manufacturer and model numbers?) of the wingsuits you rent? I would like to list them in our rental marketplace and spread the word about wickedwingsuits. It's a really unique idea! If not, that's okay - I can use the information from your web site and link back to your site as well... I think you are the only wingsuit rental company around :-)". I can ASSURE you that if I was trying to get my website plastered all over the internet you would see it in more than just one place. Please stick to facts and drop the character assassination attempts. Edited for spelling. Simon, it's not character assasination. It's my mistake for believing that you'd do as you'd indicated you'd do, I shouldn't have believed your altruistic description. My mistake. I'm over it.

Nope. You have an "exclusive" Tonysuit ad straight under it all, that suggests that we're all exclusively Tonysuit. I don't care for that. I don't care what site it's hosted on. It doesn't need a WW header and an "exclusive Tonysuit" footer to be what you said it was going to be. You can play dumb all you want, but you're obviously using this list and DZ.com to advertise. "Barely any of your customers come by search engine?" Bull. You've hit up non-skydiving related locations to improve your SEO, you really expect people to suck up the "dumb" act? Didn't realize you'd graduated from Flock U school of marketing and wingsuit coaching. Got hot deals on AAD's, too?
-
A new wingsuit or a cup of coffee bets that we see advertising for the "independent" database on websites or magazines. All you have to do is remove the Tonysuit claim at the bottom of your site. This thread is full of your disclaimers that you're not using the page for advertising or bringing people to your business. It's pretty clear you are from my ground view. I submit it's for SEO. Apparently you didn't research your SEO well; you don't get to tag people that don't want to be tagged. Again...if you'll make your database as independent and non-WW related as you promise up-thread, I'm pleased to be on your list.
