Long live Tony Levin and Robert Fripp. Bill Bruford was the best they had, IMO. Adrian Belew brought such a cool sound to KC. Most awesome modern guitar/electronics player ever IMO. Thx for sharing this one.

They did. In the past, HDD units were MPEG 2. Now pretty well everything is MPEG4/AVCHD

Perhaps you're thinking of a different camera? The SR11 is AVCHD. has the same encoder as the CX7, but has Exmor™ DSP, so it should be *slightly* better in low light and extreme light. SR11 also is slightly higher at up to 16Mbps, and is native 1920 x1080 vs 1440 x 080.
-
*Allegedly* the SR11/12 park the heads when the memstick is inserted. No difference in quality, same encode regardless of which storage is used. I've been promised an SR 12 for about a month now. I hope to test one soon, and that way we'll know for sure. Encoding wise, it's a very fine camcorder.

Are you telling us the state of UT has completely banned real beer? Millertime is posting from Z-hills, not Utah.

OIS is OIS. Either turn off stabilization, or deal with OIS. If you're freeflying, OIS isn't useful, even with Sony's cams. At least the lens parks on Sony cams, some other brands don't. EIS is your friend in that case, although EIS is becoming very rare.

Neither have I, and we've shot a few of them.

Huh? Wha? I was asleep when you said whatever you said. I'm in the room with everybody, and you're a prolific person in this venue, so I guess I agree with what you said, even though I may have been sleeping when you said it. But since I'm here, even though you're sometimes pretty offensive, I must by my sheer presence, agree with you.

You have two options: Tape-based camera Flash-memory-based camera Hard drive cameras don't work because they fail above 10K ASL. DVD camcorders don't work because they can't write in a violent environment Bullet cams attached to either tape or flash based recorders will work, but it's not practical nor affordable to get a good one. Nearly all of this is mentioned in the "Please Read Before Posting" sticky up top. Welcome to the Photo Forum!

Nice to see you making your way back, B. See you at NAB? I'd recommend starting bigger, as you're thinking, even if it means renting/borrowing from some place or something. It probably won't take you a lot of jumps to get back in the saddle to where you can jump the 150 again. Maybe a few on the 190 to make you confident, move to a 170, and so on. Glad you're OK after that crack-up!! Looking forward to you shooting Scarlet!

Sweet, Matt. Thanks for posting these. Makes me regret not being there regardless of work or weather.

lol. That reminds me of when I went to Best Buy to pick up a cordless phone. I asked the guy if this particular 2.8Ghz phone would interfere with my wireless network. He said "No. Absolutely not. A telephone is a receiver only; it doesn't transmit any signals so it can't interfere with your network" What a complete knob. Uh...I don't get it. You mean a cordless phone DOES Xmit?

For the most part, that cartoon *is* serious. I walked into a Best Buy yesterday, and was told by the salesperson that I should _easily_ be able to see the difference between a free HDMI cable and the 79.00 Monster brand cable. A sucker born every second.
-
Very impressive little light. Who knows? Maybe in the near future we could line the top of our helmets with these cool lil' burners?
-
A great explanation of what makes a 100.00 HDMI cable better than a 10.00 HDMI cable.

if you have a large head, and I do, the Bonehead FTP is easy to fit, but I also got pretty excited about the new Tonfly system, and bought one, as reviewed on the homepage of DZ.com. Incredible service, fast delivery, good communication. My Bonehead FTP will remain my primary helmet, but for everything else...Tonfly.

the Campos®™ shot is obviously a terrible Photoshop job. Suit looks nice though!

If you're using AVCHD and are on the PC platform, I'd appreciate it if you'd drop me a PM.

I went to iHop this morning; was grossed out by the sight of a stack of pancakes with Pepto-Bismol dribbled on it. Looked like this picture.

You can't divide PER SCREEN You can devide PER APPLICATION AFAIK, there is nothing that knows which screen has which app

In the case of Oz, I can speak to that... They are re-bundling the cameras. You'll see an AVCHD tour featuring New Magic Australia and Sony Electronics kicked off in Melbourne last week, then Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide. Hobart, Launceston. you should see CX7's back on the shelves shortly as a result. Damn, I sound like a Sony rep, huh??

Be sure camera is off before pluggin in the Cameye

I ended up the same way after I sheared off my button, but bought a HypEye after that, cuz I don't need the button -
Skype is the weird one in the mix, because it shares the Windows system. DVDs/video out can be sent separately, no problem. You can also turn off certain sounds. Here is a cheap way to sorta accomplish this without somethign like an M-Audio or Echo application:http://kevinchiu.org/blog/archives/windows-vista-volume-mixer-trick
