Youtube has agreements with a few publishers. However, many are still pulling audio too. You can look at the list of partner/publishers on Youtube.

MULTIPLE RANCHES IN LAREDO, TX TAKEN OVER BY LOS ZETAS
DSE replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Local news reports "border violence", but I think it would have more information were it true that local ranches have been occupied. -
You might want to email Scotty Burns for his go-around vid. He was in a Tonysuit Super Mach 1 wingsuit at Elsinore when the plane did a go-around with Jim in the pilot's seat. Scotty stayed outside and shot the whole thing.

I'd disagree that 3 hours can be put on one DVD and look halfway decent. Compressor sucks, period. Sorenson or Adobe Media Encoder will get it 2/3 of the way there. Getting it compressed down to two DVDs or one DVD9 is easy as pie to put 3 hours down. Either way, drop the 1080p into a 720p sequence. IMO, converting to 24p (assuming no highspeed pans) would be the next best option, as that'll save 25% in size right off the bat, and weddings can look terrific with pulldown.

Editing HD tandem-footage on-the-spot, fast. Any ideas?
DSE replied to Mann's topic in Photography and Video
Perhaps customers in New Zealand aren't as technically quick as people in Australia, Africa, or the US? I'm not understanding your point. You seem to have it in your head that you can't deliver both (which is what many DZ's offer; BOTH) while charging more for HD. I'd really hate to think that's so, as Fiji and other locations are doing very well with HD/SD choice delivery. As well...why do you have to ship DVDs when you can hand em' over in less than 7 minutes, 10 minutes if you really take your time? -

Apparently you're not understanding... BD(blu-ray, not Blue ray) is a laser type. Nothing more. It allows for various layers of a specific type of disc to be read differently. However, the system also reads older type DVDs, the same DVDs we've been using for years. A DVD is merely a digital container. It can contain any number of different objects such as music, video, stills, data.... So a BD/Blu-ray player can read old/legacy files as well as new format files ie; AVCHD or high bitrate MPEG. In short, the only reason one needs BD is if they want to view HD. If they have a computer, then BD is not necessary either, not for the kind of work product we create in skydiving. -

Again...you're putting something out there that isn't remotely accurate. Shooting/ingesting/editing/Delivery of HD is not any different at all from doing SD. Same machines and burners to both. Now...if you're looking at attempting to offer "one size fits all" then you're right. you won't find it. Because some people want HD and they're willing to pay for it. Others aren't. As far as the DZ that "heavily invested 20K in Vegas.....I've thrice asked for their name. It is beyond rational imagination that any business would turn away from a PC multitask for Apple singular task that cost twice as much to boot. With out a name...I don't believe they exist. -

This is why at restaurants they have an offering called a "menu." You want a burger and fries=5.99. You want a steak and fries=19.99 Smart business offers people more than one choice. Your earlier post said that HD was harder than SD, and that HD can't be burned on a standard disc. I'm not sure which side of the coin you're debating. Give people a choice. Charge more for HD. If they ask for HD, this would generally mean they have a Blu-ray player or PS3 game console. If you're not sure...ask. -

No, you're not correct at all A-Burning hi-def DVD's isn't "a whole 'nother can of worms." It's straightforward as hell, no different than burning a regular DVD 5. B-You CAN burn HD on a DVD5, which you said can't be done. You CAN'T play that in a normal DVD player, it must be a BD player, computer, or PS3. However, what this DOES mean to a DZ is that they don't need to invest in BD burners, and can still burn HD on a standard DVD5, same thing they're burning SD DVDs on. A computer doesn't need to be a lot bigger/better/faster to edit HD and burn HD. HD is more compressed, requiring more CPU, but outside of that...it's all the same as SD video for the most part. -
It's been "being done" for over a decade. The data is there. What is being done with the data and the fear-mongering on the part of the USPA administration are two different discussions. I agree with a BSR coupled with a requirement to complete two levels (or even one) of a Proficiency Card. NO ONE is harmed by such a program, but certainly bones and perhaps lives will be saved by such a program.

I've been using an iPod for around 700 WX jumps. Monkey has it right. Tune your flying vs trying to find the right helmet. I have a CC1 from Tonfly; very quiet but still noisy. WX (if you're flying right) means you're using the wind to help guage your fall rate. A bit of wind in your ear is important. Seriously...worry about finding sweet spot speeds. I almost always fly either a Mindwarp or CC1 with a single earphone in. Never two.

Yeah, there is a guy at my DZ using this for tandem video. I have a G10 that I've used on occasion. bought as a point n' shoot, I found I was pretty happy with it. With the wide adapter, it's not a HUGE savings on weight.

Yes, that was shot against a greenscreen. We have a 16 x 24 screen in our studio.
-
if you're shooting digital, bluescreen will never work. Green is for digital.
-
it optimizes the image processing on the outer edges of the sensor. I believe it functions regardless of whether auto focus and/or steady shot are active. The only real way to know would be to shoot a rez chart while using the lens and bouncing it around in each mode.

Not a leader, but a trailer. The online version is longer than the one we use for the DVDs. http://vimeo.com/4991326

Were there a way to get there...I'd be there. Blue Skies, Ken. We had some fun chats and a couple of terrific jumps.

For 999.00 you can batch render on a costly machine. You still can't burn simultaneous burns, can't edit on simultaneous, unique projects, nor ingest multiple cards at one shot while doing all of the above. If you're really a die-hard Mac fan as opposed to choosing hammers for pounding nails and saws for cutting wood...it's a good way to go. As a user of both PC and Apple solutions, I don't see the attraction. $4k (about the cost of a single well-appointed Mac, but still doesn't include multiple burners or the server system) will get you two powerhouse, multicore PC systems with software and hardware to burn 6 DVDs at once while editing, ingesting, rendering, and uploading to YouTube all at the same time. All while editing natively (no file format conversion). All at a quality maintain vs a quality loss. Isn't the purpose of a computer to multitask without spending a fortune? -
People don't use the Canopy Proficiency card as it is, but as you point out, change will eventually take place anyway... Then again...people have always known that the recommended level for camera or wingsuit is 200 jumps.
-
Not likely going to happen the way you'd like it to. The distance between the glass and the sensor alone makes it a difficult build on the cheap and compact. The small format cameras work because they are so wide, and they still tweak/process the heck out of the image so the image quality isn't near what the scene actually looks like. That's before we get into discussions of compression, etc.

Arab guilty of rape after consensual sex with Jew
DSE replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
You could be right, if one comes from the perspective that everything you say about Israel is bad. How much time have _you_ spent in the Middle East as a working, observing, social person? My viewpoint is based on personal, intimate knowledge working in both primary cultures dominated by different religions (Islam and Judaism). -

DSE replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
First Arab is race and not a country so it would depend in what country you are talking about. It's fairly safe to say that the majority of Arabs live in countries governed by Muslim law. Sure, different countries have different laws. It's not about making Israel look good. IMO, the greater twist exists when you attempt to say that a Christian could dress up like a sheik and coerce an Arab woman into sex. Or dress as an imam and convince a girl to have sex. And then not be condemned to death for having done so in the greater world of Islam. Makes me doubt you've spent much time in the Middle East, or if you just have a hatred for Israel for whatever reason. Having spent a great deal of time in the Middle East, and having no Israeli ties myself...I have a tremendous respect for Israel. And zero respect for the majority of fundamental Islam. And I'm not even Christian. -
I believe a BSR based on jump numbers alone is a good start, but like everything else needs external input. There is empirical evidence that protecting jumpers from themselves via wingloading has worked in other countries. Jump numbers may/are not the only solution, but it's the best baseline existing that can somewhat blanket the sport. There will be the naysayers that point to someone pounding in with thousands of jumps, but those are the rarities vs the norm/average, and average seems to be where the BSR is pointed. How is it that experiencedpeople coupled with common sense can see these incidents coming long before they happen, yet we should not be allowed point to jump numbers as being relevant?

DSE replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
You ENTIRELY missed the point. Culture and religion aren't necessarily the same thing. I think I did miss the point. can you please elaborate? I can, but I think you'd once again bend the discussion to suit your whims and I'm not going to convince you of anything anyway. I gave up arguing with rocks long ago. skim this over... http://www.unhcr.org/refworld/country,,IRBC,,ISR,,42df61143e,0.html in context, that court ruling seems obvious I wonder what a christian would get for dressing like a sheik and smooth talking an arab women into sex Stoning to death? The real controversy is if the same would apply to an arab. and it probably wouldn't. but that's hypothetical. and this is practical. and practically speaking, it seems like the right ruling/plea. so the hypothetical shouldnt matter. -
