  1. Speaking of...haven't seen my plane ticket yet...
  2. SEARCHis your friend.
  3. Actually, you LOSE resolution, depending on the length of the slow mo. If your NLE can't do good slo mo resampling, then I'd suggest using a tool like Twixtor. You do gain very smooth motion in-camera. You lose resolution. So...if your argument is one of resolution vs smooth...resolution loses.
  4. I've seen a GoPro on a Bonehead altimount; seemed to work well.
  5. HD can be saved on any digital device. USB stick, MSPD stick, SD card, DVD, HDD, whatever. T'is why I think the whole argument of "I don't want to sell HD because it might confuse SD customers" is a silly argument.
  6. I jump a Mirage and have for 12 years...you calling me a pussy? Ain't calling you a pussy....just sayin' that the ad can be interpreted as saying "Mirage is for pussies." Had one...happier with my Rigging Innovations Barry Gordy (Motown) once said "any publicity is good publicity, longs' they spell my name right." I agree. However...somewhat surprised a manufacturer could misspell/use incorrect grammar in a full page ad. But "than" again, Mirage sure got everyone's attention... The rest...I'm not happy about (in great part because it means that this particular month's Parachutist can't sit on the conversation table because of our customers). I'm not easily offended, but I'm also not one to rock the corporate boat when it comes to my client list.
  7. not a whole lot pisses me off more "then" an ad that is misspelled. "Than" again, Mirage kinda hits the mark well. Some people read "buy a Mirage, you'll get more pussy." Others (like me) read, "Mirage is for pussies."
  8. a forum search would answer this several times over, but... the Royal .2 is gonna vignette on any small cam that has a focal length of greater than 42mm (which the CX150 does). Not to mention it's a low resolution lens
  9. I agree the method wasnt the best. My reply was more so to all the people in this thread telling him "Thats just the way it is so deal with it like the rest of us." I personally dont believe in "That's just the way it is."
  10. "Thinking outside the box" is commendable. Vilifying a reputable manufacturer who may have made a mistake is not. Not everyone who has seen this thread will see whatever positive (or negative) result it incurs. They'll just read far enough to see "disappointed in XXXX."
  11. I wouldn't stay at anyone's 3 hour wedding let alone watch it. it falls into the same realm as 15 minute tandem videos.
  12. The card goes in the bottom of the camera instead of the side.
  13. My Altitrack rarely trips a flare as canopy deployment. It must be in SLO mode to function correctly. Before SLO mode, it tripped about 60% of the time. After putting in SLO mode, perhaps 3-4 false readings out of several hundred jumps.
  14. CX150 is a great camera, but remember that the bottom load isn't optimal for everyone. Kind of a PITA for some helmet systems.

    wdf?!?!?!?

This is a repost from a while back. Can't find the original thread ATM
  16. I've carried a lens cloth in my helmet since I graduated AFF. It's a great thing to have.
  17. We're talking a wedding video, not the gold master for Avatar. I see you haven't met Bridezilla yet?
  18. Earlier in this same thread, it's discussed. You actually have to do a little communicating. You can offer both. AFAIK, everyone that offers BD also offers SD. I can't for the life of me imagine offering HD but not SD. Someone actually has to open their mouth to speak to the student prior to the jump and ask "Do you have an HD player?" In all the SD and HD discs we've delivered, never once has someone purchased an HD disc but only had an SD player. And yes...there is a way to do a dual format disc. It's called a DVD10, and cannot be applied in a tandem operation. Unfortunately, it requires special equipment and a master. You can put both on a disc or thumbdrive as data, however. Some newer disc players have USB inputs.
  19. Even Apple's own product manager knows his product (and calls it like it is) sucks. Super upgrade from what it is, but they'd been better off keeping the Spruce team intact for compression. Espsecially if it's critical content. Cinemacraft, Adobe, Sony all have significantly better product. Compressor is getting better, and their ads are darn cool.

I'll let Justin speak for himself, but when he was going through his coach course, he commented that he was really excited and nervous about the WX experience, but wanted to try anyway. He seemed to *want* to wait til he had 202 jumps and was very proud to show me his properly managed log book before we went up.

Based on that video, I'd say Matt called it perfectly. What's up with the legs? Out of context, it would appear he's worrying more about the camera than deployment.
  22. Toss up between my Voodoo's and the Stunts Eclipse. Both incredibly comfortable. Voodoo with the dynamic cut is awesome; never know it's there. Packed with a PD Storm and Optimum reserve, lovin' it. Love the custom embroidery that RI did for me too. my Voodoo eye looks the same today as it did 500 jumps ago. CYPRES 2 in both of em'. Most important to me is how they feel on my back and how they pack up. Every rigger that has packed the Voodoo has commented on how nice it is.

Happy to introduce Jordan Hadfield. He came into skydiving with one goal; wingsuiting. He worked hard over a year to get in his 200 jumps. Today he put in three jumps on the Phantom 2. Welcome to the flock, Jordan! BTW, he's a pretty talented drummer who has played with some of the biggest names in the biz.

Leg wing looks open, right arm isn't really visible, so it's out of the way. A heavy hackey may be a contributor. Short bridles can (and often do) interfere with clean deployments.
