    Yom Kippur

If they're looking at DZ.com today, they're probably not observant of Yom Kippur. Just sayin....
  2. Please put a quarter in your DVD tray and press "send." Then "Print." BTW, Rev,..."Fu** you, asshole, I'm goin' when I want" is *not* considered "proper communication with the pilot."
  3. Thank you to those that helped develop it. I hope it helps newbies find direction once they're done with their First Flight Course. This is the same one submitted to the USPA back in February, but with a couple minor changes as suggested by members of this community.
  4. I was really disappointed at Couch Freaks. There were only 9 First Flight Courses between Friday night and Sunday afternoon. And of those, only 3 seemed to be addicts that couldn't stop jumping a WX.
  5. C'mon Glenn...It's Twi. You don't recognize the syntax? I've got a proto vx that'll be at S'nore if you wanna bitch about inlet placement, but the suit mentioned in in the OP is quite different (inlets and wingshape, and safety features). I'm sure someone will leak some photographs soon. See you at Chick's Rock?
  6. It's a fun boogie, great scenery, and lots to do in the area. I'll be there with the Phoenix-fly trailer and lots of demo wingsuits and tracking suits. If anyone is available to drive from Moab to Elsinore, I'm looking for a driving partner to help get my truck and trailer rig to Chicks Rock after MOAB. I'll buy a few jump tix as payment in both Moab and at Chicks Rock.
  7. Look in your IRM; info is in there. An evaluator is generally an Examiner in-training. To be an Examiner, it requires XX jumps as an Evaluator (depending on what rating you're chasing).
  8. Looking for someone who is going to Moab and Chicks Rock. My driving partner messed up his body and so I need help getting my truck/trailer rig from Moab to S'nore. I'll buy ya some jump tix on both ends/both events?
  9. Yep, read it. "Not accepting orders" means "grounded" in my lexicon.
  10. Having paid full-pop for (multiple) suits from Tony, Birdman, and Phoenix-fly... If the measurements are off, they're off. Worse, I believe the conversion from inches to centimeters is what messed up my Birdman. I used JShorbs measurements from my Mach 1 to order my Phantom, both of those fit perfectly. Getting it "perfect" isn't just a factory thing. And when all is said and done, there still can be mistakes. (Says the guy that just took in a vehicle trailer for a complete re-do of a repair job done wrong). One can only try. Do you ever smile, Rev. Glenn?
  11. Its active/fulltime OIS. Use at your own peril. otherwise, it's a decent little camera.

    3D curious

My personal and business self says bad 3D is here to stay. My personal self believes that once auto-stereo has a width of view greater than 4-5 inches...it'll be here in a big way. But that's years off, IMO
  13. I think it's obvious that there are more wingsuit sales today than a few years ago. Birdman's sales didn't decline and cause them to go out of business because the market is small; the market could (and has) support 3,4,5 whatever wingsuit manufacters there are/will be. Birdman went away because they had no designer and couldn't keep up with the various fast/large suits coupled with declining quality of customer service. YOU need to go out and sell people on buying wingsuits so that we have more people to jump with.
  14. Quote What's the criteria for taking a first flight course? For releasing a new wingsuiter to jump without supervision? How the hell would i know? I'm just another 100 jump wonder. Why don't all you old timers who seem to know it all get together and formulate an actual system of instruction and evaluation rather than continue to beat your heads against the same old wall? reply] If you were truly seeking the answer to this question, you'd rapdly find that there is a "standard" to a great degree. You'd learn that there is USPA BSR (not a recommendation, but a requirement) Both Birdman and Phoenix-fly have had 'actual systems' for a decade-plus. PF has recently changed theirs up to be more current with the times, bigger suits, and better instructional methods. But hey, you're just a 100 jump wonder! You'll be ready to go in another 100! Looking forward to seeing you streak ACROSS the sky instead of down through it.

What is your opinion, Paul? Is 3D here to stay this time, or a passing fad once again?
  16. Touchy, eh? I answered Bill on my BlackBerry. didn't see your post, only saw his. Feel better now? It says very clearly on the Vimeo page it was shot at 1/50. (from the vimeo page where you viewed this). Not sure what it's supposed to tell you. I had 10 minutes with the camera, no monitor, tripod, or wider lens (all of which I'd like to have had). An 85mm handheld with motion is not ideal. What more do you want to know? it's overexposed, handheld footage. The camera works, looks decent. The proto I used had older firmware, LCD wasn't trustworthy as a result, but it worked. It's ergonomically comfortable. It let me see what I was shooting live at an angle. The battery didn't die. it's fully manual with a Nikon lens on the front. it is easy to program. It's balanced well. I don't like the flip out screen. I wish it didn't feel quite so "consumer-ish" and wish it was a little more substantial. I prefer joystick to buttons. It shoots a lot of photos fast, but not as fast as the 7d. The images I shot side by side with my 7D were slightly different using similar lens, same settings, with a bit more of a blue caste. that's all I personally can think of at the moment.
  17. The imager is essentially the same, but the processor that receives thos images is supposedly different. For freefall however...it's essentially the same cam as the T2i. It does have some nicer processing features, but I'd like to see the final firmware, which wasn't on the model I had. CMOS and high shutterspeeds will be a rollingshutter issue for years to come, I think. Sony and other companies have "anti-jello" in their stabilization software, but it can only do so much. Shoot 1/50 or even 1/60 and avoid highspeed whip pans to avoid jello in *most* instances.
  18. You're older than it is...are YOU a valuable antique?!
  19. Funny thing, I made a statement at the Feb BOD meeting that Birdman wasn't any kind of a player anymore, that they only make jeans and underwear. It was promptly and loudly refuted because "Birdman is the biggest name in wingsuits." Maybe someone will revite the company with wingsuits that can compete in todays market vs being re-hashes of Robi's designs from 2004. It is a cool name, and I really like my BM beltbuckle. I guess sales were that abysmal in the past couple of years. For Jarno
  20. Birdman is flying no more BIRDMAN Oy has recently changed it’s ownership structure and is ceasing sales and operations until further notice. We will only proceed with orders that have been invoiced and paid for, and at the time being we will not take any new orders for wingsuits nor accessories.
  21. Looks like Gio has announced a super-light camera helmet from Tonfly. I have not seen it outside of photos. The description reads: "Fully equipped of a Sony videocamera HDR CX series , hypeye d pro, audible port and audible its total weight is only about 960 grams"
  22. Had a few minutes with the 60D at IBC. Coulda benefitted from some time with a grey card, but the short time with the cam was informative.
  23. It's BASE, not skydiving but a very nice read. nice job, guys
  24. I'm not entirely sure. Probably because exiting most aircraft on the left, looking to their left to find their stick ingrains a habit that when altered, it feels unfamiliar.
