Wait...you got Vigil to call you back on a holiday weekend Sunday? I'm impressed with that response on its own. I'd require the dealer to deal with it, complicated or not. That's why they're there, to take care of problems and represent the manufacturer whether it's "more complicated" or not.
-
Nicely done, Jhonny! You, Brian, TJ, and Mike kicked ass on that one! VERY impressive, no trim tabs on practices (based on your comment about the 3;1)

Chuck Blue. Outside of Florida on the east coast, he's the only one I'd trust with my mama and a wingsuit. He'll learn ya up right. Find him at Raeford.
-
The original wingsuits is my guess... The boy has a 1 track mind... DSE hasn't been around long enough to remember the popular ram-air canopies by that name. He's answering from watching "Gypsy Moths". Can't resist the chance to take a shot, can ya John? Nope...I never jumped a Batwing...but have shot a doc on the Batwing of early wingsuits. Even worn a couple but never jumped one. I kinda looked like Mothra. Have you jumped one, old timer?
-
The original wingsuits is my guess... The boy has a 1 track mind... Sorry, wingsuit pic on my wall above my desk flying a Batwing. One-track mind is right. I didn't know there was a canopy by that name.
-
Outstanding! Looking forward to flying with you in that one!

You "nailed it." I do tend to condescend to those that loudly and proudly steal and subsequently demand the moral high ground. It's one of my short comings. I'll work on that. It's why I avoid SC most of the time, but the whole "He Nailed It" when there is nothing to nail sorta caught my sleeve.

Read Pickering, Fujiyama, Leverette, or George H.W. Bush on the Middle East, how this current situation came about, how it was predicted early on by low-level analysts, and then read the CFR report that alludes to how a strong Christian Leadership in the White House will not only repeat the same mistakes made 30 years ago that gave birth to Haqquani and eventually the Taliban, and how a fundamental Christian leadership in the US will perpetuate the violence even as it reaches our own shores. Facts? None, because it's hard to posit facts for the future. Substance? Lots of history and current affairs to indicate the reality of what we have, and where we may be headed. Like I said earlier, I'm not SC material, so I'll gracelessly bow out of the conversation. Political conversations are fun when dealing with intelligence and ration on both sides. This one isn't fun. For the record, copying entire content may not be "perceived" as theft, it *is* theft. The story goes behind a paywall so WSJ gets paid for future readings. That right was stolen from them when it was copied here. But hell...what's a little theft amongst the Christian Right?
-
After the point was missed 3 times, it seems appropriate to question education, intelligence, etc. Disrespecting copyright laws that put this website in jeopardy as well... kinda shows disrespect from two different angles, no? And finally....I'm neither a conservative nor a liberal. I hate the asshats, particularly those of the Christian right, that intentionally try to put people into an "us" vs "them" position. That's what is ripping this country apart is this insipid, playground mentality that says you have to be one or the other. Steele is one of those, t'would appear you are too. It's a shame, because it leaves the common man lost in the middle with no voice, and forces the common man to try to seek the more moderate voice in the elections, even if it's not the right voice. This "my friend" is what has damaged our country so severely, so deeply, is the demand for polarization from morons like Steele, Limbaugh, Hannity, Palin, Romney, Kociinich, Swanson, Gore. Worse are the people that actually ascribe to the rantings of these highly-paid voices of corporate America.
-
There are a few around; I don't know any one actually flying one. Might be fun to build an ROL or spring-loaded PC to fly one of the old ones, provided the fabric is still good and the broomstick or aluminum ribs have been replaced with something that won't pierce the body in a bad landing. Is your guy in France still jumping his??
-
And yours don't? You can't read (or is it comprehension) almost the exact same words from a previous post. Therefore, I too look at "a plumber commenting on neurosurgery." If you think the country is fucked now...just wait'll you get Romney or Palin in there. -then- we are well and truly fucked. Forever. What's happening in the middle east will seem like a bad dream compared to what will come. Steele writes for the masses of asses on Wall Street. Fifth time that's been said. He writes what his people want to hear. This particular piece doesn't address any specific anything that Obama has or hasn't done. (third time written in this thread for those from Iowa. WAIT! I'm from Iowa too!) At least I've read some of his other writings to get an idea of his position and opinions. His rants are nothing more than crazy fixation on "this guy is a leftist who hates America." Zero facts. Zero substance. Zero reality. From my perspective he's the one who hates America; read his content and it's quite clear. Just a fantastical rant from a man who most likely needs to pay for a new Bose sound system in his BMW and this article gave him the means to do so. However, there will always be fanatics in search of the fantastic to support and enable their delusions.

I've already realized. I'm just not SC material, 'cause I can't pick one side and blindly cling to it. Comments made specifically about the article went unread, because the agenda is more important than the message. It's that kind of radicalism that gives racists the Christian Right Fruitcakes a bad name. I keep forgetting this kind of stupidity exists outside of Hollywood; it's not something I see in normal people. I gotta go clean my weapons, it's my night to protect the Planned Parenthood Clinic from nut jobs.

Duhh...I did respond to the content above. Read again? Was kinda specific in case you missed it. You suggested I didn't like Clarence Thomas; I explained I do like him. Believe it or not, there are actually people (honest to God, I swear) that function in this world thinking for themselves, not following some party line. Liberals (gasp) that own firearms and Conservatives (the horror) that believe in social responsibility. Hard to imagine, but true.

Opteka Platinum Series 37mm 0.2X Low-Profile "Ninja" Fisheye Lens?
DSE replied to Marc84's topic in Photography and Video
You got the idea. Funny you'd say "strap on..." Saw a guy GAFF TAPE a piece of convex glass on a lens the other day, and damned if it didn't work pretty well. Slight vignette, but it worked out fine. -
video shaking at high speed [tonfly cc1, sony cx-105]
DSE replied to outski's topic in Photography and Video
This could be stabilization, could be the way the mount is holding, could be the box itself, could be the helmet moving. Could also be the homemade lens. can you try another camera to see if it replicates? -
Nope, in fact I kinda like Clarence Thomas, met him when my elder brother was clerking for Justice Phillips. who was next in line had Thomas not been confirmed. Thomas hasn't made his living attacking other people for their lack of dedication to their color or culture. Steele does a good job of that. It's unfortunate that some folks are ign'ernt enuff to believe his rants. Then again, there are racialists (there's a cute word fer ya) that seem to think that if you don't like one person of color, you don't like any of em'.

Credits were given So steeling? Funny shit but the truth this hard to refute So Attack the source So I will tribute your post to being a drive by one Credits don't satisfy copyright law. Like stealing a candy bar but saying "I got this from 7-11." I've just spent the last 45 minutes reading various articles by Steele. An educated man, who likes taking to the white man as a black man. In this rant you posted, he doesn't say ANYTHING about what Obama has done or hasn't done. It's just a spew of "this guy is a leftist who hates America and I need to explain why." Not one word about accomplishment or specific failure. Just a redneck with a shingle, AFAIC. Just cuz it's in the Wall Street Journal (whose readers Obama had the audacity to criticize) doesn't make it any more credible.
-
Nope, I'm still too reading other writings by this guy that aren't stolen from another website. Seems he needs to be "other guy" for most everything, so to this point...his view is the one that sells the best to any opposition on any subject. I do find it amusing that the "right" voice of DZ.com deems it OK to steal. Or maybe you missed the copyright notice on the WSJ page.
-
Stolen from the WSJ. Ooops, forgot...it's copy "right" not "copy "left."

Try a forward loop while rotating onto your back. Simple, but fun. Keeping heading isn't so simple.

Personally I use the one hand per handle EP (hence no sweeping) and I think its a better method for wingsuits since reserve handles have been known to be slightly swallowed in some suits. I think it is a superior method at all but that's a different discussion. I can see a point in sweeping and teaching it to students, but what's the problem here? He pulled as far as he could and he had no midget arms. He felt the canopy leave. What would the sweeping get him? ~he didn't know if the canopy left or not. He just knew he was low. That said, there may come a time when a cable doesn't release, the canopy "feels" like it left, but the jumper is still connected to a single riser. Sweeping is just a good habit. One hand or two, you can sweep. I've jused both methods, I prefer one-handed (but have used two in one cutaway scenario). Both methods are viable, and I believe sweeping the release cables is a good practice. Additionally, this was a rental rig, so not knowing the system well....sweeping is a good idea. In the end, he saved his own life and it all came out good, so it's a discussion of future practices. TMMV.

best beginner school/instructor/dropzone in usa/world?
DSE replied to motoxbudd's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Skydive Elsinore is next to a world-class dirt track, 2 miles from an airpark for hang gliders and paragliders, and has a well-known AFF school. Camping on DZ or very nearby, either one. School is year-around. -
ONT and SNA are the closest. Long Beach isn't too far, Even San Diego isn't much farther than LAX, so lots of options, and getting rides shouldn't be too tough. Would love to see ya there, Brian!

Opteka Platinum Series 37mm 0.2X Low-Profile "Ninja" Fisheye Lens?
DSE replied to Marc84's topic in Photography and Video
Generally speaking, yes. However, due to the greater resolution of the camera (usually) the possiblity of CA/Chromatic Abberation is higher. Find out by shooting something Black/white. If you see color on the edges, the lens adapter has a high CA. -
is it wise to buy a Pilot 188 with 120 reserve?
DSE replied to CloudyHead's topic in Safety and Training
You have the basic idea down. You've already had a challenged jump; now you'll compound that excitement attempting to land something nearly half the size of the main you've been jumping. Add that you might be landing off or at least in an unfamiliary area of the DZ, potentially with a downwind landing, and while your reserve *may* have saved your life, the risk of broken legs, wrist, back, pelvis might make you wish you'd had a bigger reserve.
