  1. You might want to ask any of those who showed any opposition to SH, if they could actually speak.
  2. Isn't it amazing that when you tell the kid to rake the yard or take out the trash, they can find a thousand other things to do, but give them a video game and they can sit still for hours. There are many things in the course of a day's work that I'm not particularly fond of, but they have to be done in order to move on to the next thing. It's called self discipline and concentration. There are also a lot of lazy parents who don't want to have to deal with an energetic child. The direction society has taken in the last few years doesn't help. Physical discipline is a crime and so is getting a paying job for anyone under 16yr. of age. Getting a summer job at the age of 12 was one of the best things that ever happened to me.
  3. Humans have been dealing with weather related crop failures and abundances since the first seed was planted. I remember hearing a story about something called the Dust Bowl. I love beets and have attempted to grow them for years, always with failure. This year I put most of my winter garden in on Sept.1st. Voila. Climate warming is not going to prevent the earth from tipping on its axis, which creates winter and summer. Different crops will simply be planted closer to the poles. Since Fl. orange groves are being turned into condos maybe Ga. will become the new citrus belt. Of course, the peaches will have to be moved farther north, or horticulturists will develop some that will deal with the heat.
  4. Hmm. So if people are forced to pay exhorbitant taxes, they will go elsewhere where the taxes are lower? Hmmm. Now, that's what I call progressive.
  5. How long has it been since you've gone to bed hungry because of govt. debt? You know, I just ain't feelin' the pain. All my bills are paid and I have money to jump with. If any Dem. gets in office I know I'll feel a little more pain on April 15th. She's her husband's wife. I've always known where I stood. She's the one who is trying to backpedal on her decision. But then, it depends upon which crowd she is playing to. You really can't please a radical anti-war crowd and a hawkish crowd. She's got to be lying to one of them. That would make her a liar.
  6. I've never been in a union, but I've been around quite a few former union men and have heard enough stories to know that they are filled with slackers and scammers. Whether they were that way going in or became that way later, who knows.
  7. In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "She looks like she wears dirty underwear." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would that be considered hard or soft money?
  8. So if you had a business, you would hire someone if his ablilities to perform his particular job were top notch, but because of his personality traits he causes strife and dissension amongst the rest of the crew? I remember a superintendent who had a book called" The National Book of Averages." Even though he didn't have the ability to do the work himself, he would tell you that you weren't digging the footer fast enough because the book said so. He was an asshole and never inspired anyone to perform at their best. He sucked up to the company owners so they liked him. It seems that you don't have a problem with dividers. Here's one for you. How does she have the qualifications to lead the armed forces? She has never served. Remember,GWB was only a pilot in the Air National Guard. She also despises the concept of military power.
  9. Much of what you have written here can be performed with the proper legal paperwork. I can leave my property and belongings to anyone I choose. I sure that if I were in the hospital, I could designate any person of my choosing to be my go between to the outside world, especially if no blood relatives were close enough to take care of business. As for adoption I would say no. Man and woman provide a balance for the child that simply cannot not be achieved by other situations. Children who are raised by a single parent quite often suffer phycological imbalance. Why would having two parents of the same sex improve that situation. I know that if I were a child, and had to listen to Rosie O'Donnell for 18 yrs. I would be looking for some kind of mental help. And she's the poster child for gay adoption.
  10. Remember in the Wizard of Oz how the witch would squint with one eye and look at you from the side?
  11. : >that's one million TONS of fuel oil, not gallons. So closer to 500 million dollars. It would be interesting to know how much above normal operating costs to run the military on a day to day basis the war has actually cost us.
  12. Your argument was that the right against self incrimination, currently afforded only to hetrosexual spouses should be afforded to homosexuals as well. Why stop there? Two good old boys who decide to knock over the 7-11 should be able to run out and get married in order to afford them the same privilege. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Absolutely, and thanks. Just using the absurd to point out the absurd. Marriage is what it is and always has been. The homosexual community simply want to corrupt its significance. If they want to take out life insurance policies on each other and put each other in their wills, noone is stopping them. The claim is that their rights are being restricted. If the act of "marriage" entitled someone to draw social security because he or she is someone's spouse, whether a legitmate hetrosexual marriage or a pretend homosexual marriage, why stop there?Hell, anybody should be able to say a few words, sign a piece of paper and have legal access to everything. My point is that once you start fudging the line, you might as well completly erase it.
  13. That's exactly what I was saying. Your argument was that the right against self incrimination, currently afforded only to hetrosexual spouses should be afforded to homosexuals as well. Why stop there? Two good old boys who decide to knock over the 7-11 should be able to run out and get married in order to afford them the same privilege.
  14. If a sound bite of her screeching voice can wake someone out of a dead sleep, I would definately have pause to vote for her on that alone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you never met someone, who, with very few words, you formed an adverse opinion about? A red flag, if you will. You said to yourself,"There's just something about him that bothers me." Well, I've watched Hillary long enough to recognize that she is a very underhanded person. She may have the ability to charm and bewitch some, but she doesn't have me fooled.
  15. I said pretty much the same thing in two lines in my post. As long as we have govt. trying to enact a nanny state,"It takes a village" we are going to have these problems. I would love to be the fly on the wall in that household.
  16. So you're willing to legislate righteousness when it comes to other people's money, but not when it comes to other people's mor I believe that if you are under conviction by what is written in Proverbs, you should reach into your pocket and help someone out.
  17. Not enough parental smackdowns, child labor laws, video games, boredom.
  18. So, what you are saying here is that two male thieves who want impunity from each other simply should have the ability to get married? By your thinking, they don't have to have a sexual attraction or even love one another. This type of nonsense is where the slippery slope of liberalism, excuse me, progressivism, takes us as a society. The closer we move to anarchy the better you like it.
  19. Are you saying that personality flaws like a seething anger problem, harboring resentment, and making efforts to destroy people's lives that cross you, in no way would affect her ability to make sound decisions in other areas? If a sound bite of her screeching voice can wake someone out of a dead sleep, I would definately have pause to vote for her on that alone.
  20. We need to call MythBusters on that one. I should have a harem.
  21. I've never seen a gay person who didn't have just as many rights as I do. They have the ability to get an education, jobs, housing, utilities, food, transportation, the right to vote, to bear arms, free speech, on and on. I do not need to telegraph my sexual preferences to get something that others do not have.
  22. The progressive always moves the line from what is tried and true for the sake of selfishness, i.e. laziness and greed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for my little story, if someone with a true progressive mind had been doing the work, I would not have been called to fix a major screw up that would have eventually caused serious damage, if left to run its course. This mind set is prevalent in today's society. Let's do just enough to squeak by, and grab as much as we can. Quality before quantity is a basic conservative mindset. It was your precious Democrat party that was a major roadblock to desegragation in the sixties, and today it's people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who hate for a free man to be free. As to abortion rights, I'm sure that if they had a voice, there are about 30 to 40 million souls who never got a chance to reach their full potential, who would argue against "progression." I've never seen a gay person who didn't have just as many rights as I do. Please provide a list. Here's another great example of progressive thinking. NAMBLA. Everyone should be free to experience life to the fullest.
  23. Zell Miller is a man with solid convictions, and stands head and shoulders above all of the finger wetters who are now in charge of the party. Progressives never met a peer pressure that they wouldn't bow down to.
  24. My ex wife had an expression about certain women. "She looks like she wears dirty underwear."
