So if I were an asshat in this life, my hell is that one or two generations remembers that I was an asshat? Oh, the pain!

Show me your papers please... ID's for going to the mall...
Royd replied to Fast's topic in Speakers Corner
If you've done nothing wrong... you've got nothing to worry about -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think that besides the rights of the public, the business owners have the most to lose in this situation. Those that will be affected most are non chain style shops that are owned locally and target a younger market. In general though, if I was the owner of a store in this mall I would be looking to get out with rules like the above. My concern is that they are not going to just be looking at ID's but rather taking record of the people going into the mall. This is something that would be easy because wisconsin drivers licenses are bar coded. I recently had to let them scan my license to buy cough medicine. I would have protested but I was sick. More and more we are seeing our personal freedoms and rights violated and people are allowing it to happen in the name of "public saftey." The problem that we are going to start to see is that eventually, they wont even bother drawing a line, they will just do whatever they feel is nessecary to protect us from us. (Not a new thing, I know, I just feel like complaining about it today) QuoteWe could post Border Patrols at every Walmart on weekends and take care of the illegal immigrant problem in no time. -
And why do humans have an appendix and a tailbone? EVOLUTION has the answer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How did the human, who is the slowest and weakest of the major predators, and late on the scene, by evolutionist's numbers, survive long enough for evolution to develop the brain to the point of superiority? We should have just been a late night snack for the big cats and wolves. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your question is based on mistaken assumptions and therefore cannot be answered as it is posed. So the whole" humans have only been around for a couple hundred thousand years" thing is a lie? Did we walk with dinosaurs? Did we come out of the same primordial soup at the same time i.e. created? Were we stronger, faster , and just a lot dumber, back in the day. That would be the only way that we could have survived the wrath of nature? Unless, of course, we've had the ability for reason and logic all along.

Repugs take another swipe and unions and workers

I thought Neo-conservatives were the evil ones. So which one is it? Neo-Con, Neo-Fascist, Neo- Nazi, or Neo-Socialist? -
No. Smacking your thumb with a hammer is what cures a headache. The harder you hit it, the longer the headache disappears.
-
Doesn't that fly in the face of the whole evolution thing?

They ought to spray them with pork blood at the factory. What a great way to keep those clowns in hiding.

Congress has voted to give themselves pay raises over the last nine years totaling over $30,000. Thats more than $15 an hour for a 40-hour week, 52 weeks a year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First, sitting on your ass, running your mouth isn't work, and second, I doubt if it's a 40 hr. wk. very often. It sure isn't 52 wks. a year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll be generous and give them$100,000 a year. They have to cover all expenses out of that money, rent, food, and travel, just like people in the real world. I would also put some serious restrictions on the retirement package that they receive unless they have been there for twenty years. They also have to pay social security and draw that at retirement age unless they are are willing to give the rest of us the opportunity at the same package that they have. After all, aren't they supposed to be servants of the people?

Hmmm. The press comes out with a new poll everyday. I'm sure they are loaded to get the results that are desired; there's not much" presenting the whole truth" anymore. People tend to believe the drivel.

Here's what I cooked the other night. 1 small onion- chopped 2 cloves of garlic -crushed hot peppers of choice and amount olive oil small amount of red wine Dried mushrooms- presoak. Save some liquid 1 rutabaga with a few leaves- Slice to cook in 5 minutes. 1 can of smoked oysters-with oil 6 medium sized shrimp proper amount of pasta of choice for 2-3 servings Sautee oinions, garlic, and peppers in oil. I use a cast iron wok. Add rutabaga with chopped leaves, and mushrooms. Stir for a minute and add oysters. Add wine, cover and simmer until rutabaga is done. Add shrimp and cook until done. Drain pasta, and add to mix. Salt and pepper, maybe a little soy sauce. Cover with a strong grated cheese. Bon Appetit

So what do you want done with your body after death?
Royd replied to gontleman's topic in The Bonfire
Hopefully, I'll be so old that everything will be worn slap out. Then, I want to be buried diagonally across my double plot. Plenty of room to stretch, you know. -
Are there not ceartain jobs that I would not have access to if I were not in a union? I'm sure that I couldn't just go to the dock and pick up a job, if I had the skills, without being subjected to a union's heavy handed rules. Why should I have to give anyone part of my money just to feed my family? It just has the smell of extortion. Kind of like the mafia or the cops demanding a payoff in order to business in their territory. A person should be free to do business without intimidation. The govt. does the same thing. In the name of worker's rights, they extort millions in worker's comp. insurance. You have to jump through a thousand hoops just to start a business. Don't get me wrong. I have a fully functioning wrist with no pain because of workman's comp., but it is a system that is abused on a regular basis. Amazing how the bad back disappears on the first hole on Sat. morning. BTW, don't union organizers always seem to be a bunch of fat cats. Maybe that's just a stereotype.

I have no doubt that ADD exists. Hell, my dog has it. I just wonder how much of it is caused by improper diet and lifestyle. There are any number of physical problems that are caused by chemical imbalances that can be remedied by a change in diet. There does seem to be a considerable rise in problems these days that simply didn't manifest themselves when I was a child. Asthma, diabetes, and any number of problems with the ability to concentrate; there seems to be a dysfunction of the month club. The only solution seems to come from companies such as Phizer and Merck. That makes you wonder about it. My point of view is that any manmade chemical will eventually become a poison. I believe this is proven by any number of drugs that are lauded as a cureall and a couple of years later are the cause of class action lawsuits.

Since I don't have time to read through every post to find a proper segway I will simply put forth my point. Admittedly, unions have brought up the wages a worker recieves, and possibly have increased job saftey, but at what cost to the truly free man? Unions tend to force people into situations which do not allow for personal advancement according to one's abilities and energy level. I can only use myself as an example. I was raised to believe that you give a day's work for a day's pay, regardless of the wage. At the end of the day I am better off than the slacker who intentionally did half as much work because he didn't feel like he was making enough money. I know that I am a rare case, but when I worked for someone else and finished up my assigned job at 2 p.m., and knew that starting something else was a waste of motion and time, I wouldn't find a hiding place until the end of the day.I would rather be home goofing off than doing it on the job. When the boss starts looking at the books and sees that profits and production are going downhill, which worker do you think is going to be the first one to the chopping block? The self motivated worker, or the intentional slacker. One of the best things that can happen to anyone is to become self employed. You would definitely approach work with a different perspective than someone who does just enough work to keep from getting fired. You learn how to think and approach a task as effeciently as possible. This also includes saftey issues, which I have a good knowledge of. If I neglect a power cord that could roll under my foot when I'm 20 ft. up on a scaffold, it could be all done with for me. If unions were about wages and saftey they wouldn't be a problem. They are about gouging what they perceive as the enemy, which is the company owner. The person, who, through self motivation and hard work has put away enough money to be considered successful by the world's standard. Maybe someone should form the Effecient, Hard Workers Union, then noone would be getting the short end of the stick.

what % of deaths in iraq are innocent civilians?
Royd replied to skinnyflyer's topic in Speakers Corner
Strange how we can count all of the dead, innocent civilians, but I've never seen an accurate account of of the deaths of opposing forces. What's up with that? -
I'm headed to Palatka. There doesn't seem to be any wind so it should nice on the ground.

>I mean, if I told you I had a gnome in my back yard would you really believe me? Was it a peaceful christian gnome or one of those killer nutso muslim gnomes? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Worse, the gnome was atheist. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and running for office -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd never vote for anything less than 3 feet tall. Don't tell the people in Bonfire that there is actually humor over here. -
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, that's what I call progressive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is progressive because it progresses past the modern ideal of punishing those who do things well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you consider yourself to be the underclass, or just the champion of the underclass?
-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, that's what I call progressive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is how it works with me since I am debt free and self employed. Once Uncle Sam decides that he wants a bigger part of my money, I simply shut down. In other words, when the govt decides that I've made enough money at $30 per hour, and now I should only bring home $20 per hour, I tell them to go screw themselves. How much more money would they get from me troughout the year if they didn't get greedy? I feel LUCKY just to be able to get space to post in this thread!
